Estimated 12% increase next difficulty jump. Unreal, I liked it going down 4% last week.
I've been wondering about this. It seems the bitcoin asics are at their limit for improvement. Even the latest 10nm
chips are barely better than the 16nm S9s. I've read that 7nm is being developed but that it won't help asics because
the heat involved in mining decreases the effectiveness of thinner wafers. Unless the price of bitcoin jumps up dramatically
before the next difficulty jump, it will not be profitable even with the lowest power rates available. However, if this happens
the global hashrate will decrease quickly thus decreasing the difficulty. Hopefully the profitability will stabilize again to about
where it is now. Next year's mantra will be "decrease power consumption". Look at the s9i that bitmain recently put out.
The design was solely to save energy and does not increase hashrate.
