Not a complaint. Just an observation. If Halong continues this pool is more of a Halong pool as opposed to a collection of decentralized miners. One theory is Halong is hanging around to help cover the $5 late delivery they are now offering. Not a bad business move if they are. Doesn't help me but it is a smart move.

Funny that no one complained about luck for the block we hit at 30% of expected or the one at 1.5%  Roll Eyes
...Thank God I hopped off often and caught Slush on some 200% upswings after his bad luck runs or I would have been bust months ago...
And how's that working out for you:

We are obviously not celebrating per se but we're trying hard to remain optimistic. Your anger is misguided. Presumably the catalyst for your outbreak was the latest fall in bitcoin value and you've finally had enough of mining at this small pool. Anyone who mines at a small pool should be well aware of the risks of bad luck from mining there. It's always going to be a gamble and unfortunately we've been hit by a string of relatively bad luck - but that can change at any time, for better or worse. What is the point of your outburst apart from telling us why you are leaving? Do you see it as a public service to prevent other people from losing their money by mining here? Do you think I run this pool out of malice to make miners intentionally lose money? Your anger and frustration has been duly noted, but there is absolutely nothing we can do about it, and you are worsening the situation by making more people try and move away. This is precisely why it is so hard for a small or new pool to get off the ground, why decentralisation is increasingly difficult, and why people continue to flock to larger pools - because of the lesser variance the large pools provide, and in so doing further worsen the centralisation situation.

What is there to celebrate about?
I just did a reality check on the true stats we've enjoyed since I started mining here in Oct.
some of us are really getting hurt bad by being here... and have been taking an average of -20% beating for 9+months?
That is just on the block find luck variance.
Add the losses due to an insane diff increase and my ACTUAL rewards here are about 35% of expected..vs a 2-3% PPS pool with NO TX fees.

Thank God I hopped off often and caught Slush on some 200% upswings after his bad luck runs or I would have been bust months ago.
I made far FAR  more on BCH and alt's than BTC...Even after dumping most of my BTC during the Dec/17 High.
I was stupid to reinvest in more Sha-256 Asics with 30% failure rates, shit service, expensive RMA shipping and down time.

BTC by PPLNS is a black hole death spiral.

Now we must watch and suffer further as Halong pushes months worth of our shares completely out of the 5nd window.
I read earlier.."One block quickly can change our luck % pretty heavily." BULLSHIT if we hit 5x successive 1% blocks right now it would not come anywhere near close to making up for the losses already suffered.

I'm staring to feel the service which small PPLNS pools do to the Bitcoin community is to take idiots like me out of the game.
It worked.

Hydro Quebec did me an even greater favor refusing an upgrade.
Ciao fellas...

At least I won't be paying any taxes as I have not made a dime in profit. Not even close to ROI...

What is the mining pool sentiment of replacing stratum with this 'BetterHash' proposal by Matt Corallo?

If I understand it correctly, it will decouple pool selection and block construction.
I haven't chimed in on this publicly because I think people would be disappointed by my response and criticise me for being negative. It's a great idea, but will be a complete failure in the real world I'm afraid. Even if I write the reference client and server software to use the protocol, no mining hardware out there and virtually no pool will be using it, thanks to Bitmain's hardware and pool dominance. I've had this discussion with Matt but he's more hopeful than me; otherwise he wouldn't have gone to the effort of formalising his proposal. I'd be happy to be proven wrong on this...

All the news stories I've read are glowingly positive that this is a good idea, which I agree it is. However, nobody bothered to ask a miner/ pool operator.
And therein lies the problem... Since I wrote the reference mining software and many drivers, and wrote pool software and have administrated on 4 pools over the years... I'm a realist.

...To check how much you getting in the block.

You are just picky and pointing my errors claiming I am confusing things. I am not confused here, I've checked my projected earnings BEFORE block and then I posted here AFTER the block, because I was not included in the block. ...
I missed payout on last block, I was postponed. Now, I got payout! Yeah! ...
This, yet again, seems to be you saying something in one post and contradicting yourself in the next post.
All I can say is:
Huh?  Huh

As for "why I respond", the fact remains that your claims are self contradicting and thus confusing to not only those that do understand how this works, it reads in a way that can confuse new miners (an as such, needs to be corrected). It's not a "me vs you" personal "attack", it's simply that I find it frustrating that you confuse yourself, grab a keyboard, type some random words, and confuse newcomers as well.

For the record and clarification for future readers:
You saw that you'd get paid in the next block, we hit a block, and you got paid in that next block.

I am not confused here, I've checked my projected earnings BEFORE block and then I posted here AFTER the block, because I was not included in the block. Now I know that I need to check http://ckpool.org/#/work page everytime, so I know if I am on "payment" or "postponed" list, period.
Stop your personal attacks of me saying I would confuse fuel in the car, that's just pathetic. If you getting frustrated by exchanging posts with me just stop.

@crypto_curious
1) you seem to be confused, somehow, by the fact that 2 places you can get information.
does this confusion also apply when you go to fuel your vehicle and you have options as to where you can purchase your fuel?

2) The information on my page and the work page are the exact same information; when you go to my page, it literally gets the information from the work page (so, it can't be different from the work page).

3) You don't have to go to my page, ever; it's merely a work in progress that I started creating to maybe help some folks.

4) My frustration with you comes from the fact that you say 1 thing now and another thing later.
...Can someone clarify?
Did you copy that before we hit the block or at the time you posted?
At the time I posted.
...
There you, literally said you looked at the information after we found a block and we haven't found another block since then; however, now you're saying:
...before block, I've checked that and I thought I am gonna get something from next block. And bang, block happened...

I'm not sure what it is that you expect when you can't communicate what actually happened to/for/with you in a way that tells the same story twice....
