Never tell me the odds!  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I'm going to speak with the Universe via Edgar Casey tonight and beg for a block..
I just arrived at my new home in Namur Que only to be told I must wait another two weeks for my 400 amps.
..

Someone just shoot me now please.

We’ve all gone through similar fun times... we feel your pain.

Thanks, I understand the stop light example. For the coin flip if I only have to get one heads I would rather have 5 coins flipping instead of 4. Hence the extreme PH drop just inherently seems (not saying in reality) has an adverse impact on our luck factor.
I appreciate the responses.

20% drop in hashrate means 20% longer to hit a block.

But in theory  the shares needed are still the same.

So with the coins it should be 50% heads and tails which is the luck.

But five coins flipping will find a heads faster then four..

So you got the idea.

Now quality of the gear hashing and whether it is really true to its luck rate very hard to know if it is good without endless testing of it with many pieces of gear. Same with a pool is the software good? Etc.

Since part of this world of BTC mining is based on luck. Does the variance of 3-5 PH reduction / increase nightly screw w our expectations to find blocks? Just seems when you have that many miner power cutting off to the degree they do this pool has a distorted luck expectation. Just honest thought not trying to stir the pot. Still getting up to speed on this.
Other than "expected" time, hash rate has no effect on any variance. Luck is the comparative factor that says: it takes 27.5-38.9 minutes to traverse downtown Memphis at noon on a Wednesday (it doesn't matter if you're in a dump-truck or you're in a Lotus); the only difference is if you hit 38 red lights or all 41.

Does flipping 5 coins vs 4 coins matter in terms of heads vs tails % no.

If I’m reading the payout correctly it states that the miner gets a reward who finds the block. Say exact reward amount varies upon several  factors... out of curiosity (if I’m even reading this correctly) what is the reward ROUGHLY. I believe it varies as I stated but would be it like 1btc, 0.1btc or 0.01btc? Was just curious and figured I would ask...

Ps there have been 1,000 payout related questions in the life of this thread and the members are always so extremely helpful in understanding it instead of saying “do a search” or “read page xx”
I think it’s very cool of you guys being so patient and helpful!!

do you mean this?

"Lucky rewards - since shares are weighted by the difficulty of the share found, if you are a small miner that has a handful of lucky high diff shares, you can earn significantly more, capped at current network difficulty.
Block finder rewards - as per lucky rewards, a large share weight is attached to block finds (but is applied to the next block reward since user rewards are included in the existing unsolved block reward.) The sooner the next block is found, the higher the block finder reward is."

good evening every one,

i have a antminer v9 when i connect it with the pool i got alot of hw.
when i connect it with a different pool i do not get any hw.

i tried the 2 different poorts the 443 get me less hw but still have it.

does some one know how i can put a start diff for the v9.

It's impossible for the pool to cause hardware errors in your device. Bitmain's drivers are garbage and they are probably just doing diff calculation wrong with a different value for diff than this pool provides and they are having to classify low diff shares as hardware errors. Just ignore them if the displayed hashrate is still okay.

Point your device to pool.ckpool.org:3333 and enter your bitcoin address. That's all you do. If you have a lot of HW errors from mining then your device is faulty.
Show us screenshots from mining here for at least one hour.
And screenshot from mining somewhere else for at least one hour, so we can compare.

The main thing you're missing is that we get paid spanning 5 times the network difficulty (5 blocks in theory, more like 3-4 with the current pool rate). That means that your calculated payout for the current block isn't the only payout you get (especially if you've yet to hit the 5N mark).

It's hard to understand, at first, so I'll use fairly rounded even numbers to try to explain....

At 30 PH, we should find a block ever 6.5 days.
So, if you start mining right after we find a block, you will see your complete 5N results at 33 days.
Assuming no new growth and you continue mining, the calculated reward that you have at 33 days is close to what you could expect to get out of every block.
At no point do any calculations include "everything you'll ever get", because 5N rewards don't work that way (in any pool).

For every block that the pool hits before that 33 day period, your reward will still be growing.

For every block that the pool hits after you stop mining, your reward will gradually decrease.

I use one bitcoin address with 5 workers...
http://www.yourcomputergenie.com/?address=3JBqoMHW7d94rt8iA6KNme9hdos8f51dso
does it means after 6 days my estimated balance is 32 usd?

yes and it will grow  each day until  about day 50 .

a nice thing now is coins are down so  if you stick around until day  50 and coins spike after that you can do what I mentioned a few posts earlier.
