Should I be concerned if my hashrate on the webpage is off by a factor of 10?

Power to the people!
I would echo the thanks for looking out for your miners.  I moved my 1Gh/s on to the new url...a bit surprised that this modest hashrate puts me in the "above average" crowd.

I would certainly help test the new proxy/code when it is ready.  Again; thank you.

There is a bit of a manual selection involved in flagging miners for the private DNS.  It's based on a few factors, the first of which was pure hash speed.  Since then, more factors like account age, online time, and efficiency have been used to extend the private DNS to a larger number of miners.

Thats cool yea i got the new dns also i just recently switched full time to btcguild i get better payputs here then abc even tho they pay higher per share but btcguild my hash stays higher and peaks much higher then it ever did at abc and you guys dont charge anything to cashout like they do.

I'm getting ready to start testing the new pool code I've mentioned in the past.  This is a complete rewrite of the mining protocol, which will require time before it is introduced as the primary BTC Guild servers.  The purpose of the testing is to identify any weaknesses in the process, and also get an idea of just how painless it can be for current miners.

I am encouraging anybody interested in helping test the new protocol to send me a PM or email.  The first phase of testing is going to require the following:

1) Test users will need to download a special proxy.  This proxy will connect to the pool with the new protocol.
2) The users then point their miner to this special proxy, which will convert the new protocol (very low bandwidth/latency) into standard getwork protocol on the local network for their mining software to talk to.
3) Share submissions will be posted to a temporary website for testing purposes.  These shares will be paid out at 105% PPS rates.
4) 24 hour notice will be given on the website when testing is coming to an end.

If this test is successful, I will be making a public posting of the new protocol details for pools, and working with mining software developers to work on getting it implemented directly in mining software.  Assuming testing works, this new protocol will completely change the pool mining landscape.  We're looking at a inbound bandwidth of 1 KB/minute, regardless of miner speed (1 KH/s or 100 TH/s, it doesn't matter).  Outbound bandwidth will scale based on the share difficulty the pool (or user) has set.  After the new protocol goes live, BTC Guild will allow miners on the new software to set any difficulty they choose, with a calculator to provide users with an idea of what variance to expect given a specific hash rate and difficulty setting.

EDIT:  Testing will not begin until the first week of September.  Right now I am just trying to gather a list of people who are willing to help when testing is ready.

The text on https://www.btcguild.com/change_auto_payout_nmc.php still says:

Amounts must be multiples of 1 NMC.
Setting to 0.1 works, though.

Fixed this error, the text now shows the proper information.

I am 'hopping' around to find a home. Amazing how little invalids I get. Nice work. I will stick around Smiley.

Glad to hear you're having great performance!

What's this private server DNS? I just noticed it on my account. Can I use it for all my miners or just my fast dedicated miners.

Just a reminder to anybody who's reading this thread:  If your account has the message regarding the private DNS, please update your miners ASAP.  You will see even better performance than the normal servers, as well as having a good chance of mining uninterrupted if the pool is under attack.

Automatic NMC payouts can now be set for for amounts less than 1.  It follows the same rules as BTC automatic payouts: Payment thresholds must be multiples of 0.10.

great. updated my current pps rates thread

The people sending me emails probably don't check forums, but doing this anyways:

By now you're all probably aware that the market has turned into a roller coaster.  At the same time, the network has been pretty slow churning out blocks that actually have a decent # of transactions in it.  Right now there are many payouts unconfirmed.  They are all sent (if they have a link, it means the TX is on the network waiting for confirmations).

There is nothing that can be done to speed these up.  Right now there are THOUSANDS of unconfirmed transactions across the entire network because of the panic being caused by the current market movements.  If your payout has a link in Payout History, it has been sent and you have to wait for a block to come that includes it.  They include the standard satoshi client fees if needed already.

EDIT:  And if the delay wasn't bad enough, it looks like a good chunk of transactions got put into an orphaned block and haven't been accepted into any new blocks since.  Trying to force the ones I know of to re-broadcast over the network.

I know they have an API, but do they have the ability to execute trades through their API yet?

EDIT:  Okay, looks like btc-e actually has a full API now instead of just informational.  I'll look into offering the ability to run an NMC->BTC conversion.
The API's capabilities expanded to full trading within the past week or two Smiley The page even shows how many bots/users are using the API. Cheesy

They're working on notifications too... no email notifications yet, but judging from the labels in the options screen, it is coming.

And, Vircurex sends email notifications when your deposit hits, so, that's a plus for them also.

Would it be possible to add a button to exchange NMC for BTC ?

While a few pools do this, I'm not comfortable with it.  There is no namecoin exchange that offers an API to execute trades, so all I can do is poll the last prices whenever somebody wants to do an exchange, then pray that rate doesn't change to much by the time I sell them.  It could cost me money to do that with how many people mine at BTC Guild if the price swings too much between selling batches of NMC.  It may not happen *as* much these days, but that market can get very volatile when somebody decides to screw around with it.
BTC-e trades BTC/NMC and has an API

I believe Vircurex does as well.

bitparking uses temporary address so i recommend vircurex but it didnt' process my transaction, maybe price dropped right after i did it. dont see it on the orders page after days
bitparking took a few hours i think last time
Bitparking will be moving to permanent addresses soon. I tested the changes for this in the litecoin exchange I recently started and it seems to be working well enough to enable on the namecoin exchange.

well u just always give a little less than exchange price

Or just handle it yourself, here are a few exchanges.
https://exchange.bitparking.com (down and dirty)
https://vircurex.com (nicer interface)

Just setup a deposit address at the exchange and send them over directly from BTC Guild. No need to mess with a NMC wallet/client on your end at all. I have mine auto depositing to Vircurex and when it gets to like 300 or so I sell them off. It's simple and almost fully automated.
