I really hate asking for this, but I think I'm one of those 'inbetweeners" that got hosed by the new merit system. My activity broke over 480 in the last week or so... so I should have been upgraded to Hero. When I checked to see why that didn't happen, I noticed the Merit link in my profile. After reading a bit about, I understand why the merit system exists, but now I have to generate 250+ merit to get to Hero status.
I'm most active on the Altcoin miner subforums as I'm a miner (don't hold it against me!), and I love to pay any advice or tips forward. Here's some of my more recent decent posts if you want to peruse:

Yes, I have the same situation. It was my last week before I had to get a Full Member, but it was not so, because the merits came here ...
So, I raised 56 merits per last month, but it's not enough to get a new rank.
I'm a bounty hunter, I'm working with social media, including Facebook. And there are troubles with it last time. So I wrote the helpfull post for everyone who need it.

Correct your spelling mistakes, use chrome and it should highlight them for you.
Good post but try to go back and edit your post to be as readable as possible. The more digestable and readable you make a post, the more people will bother to stop and read not just skim and possibly give you merit for a point well made.
Just space out the sentences a little bit, a problem with online is that even a normal set of sentences can turn into a wall of text that is unwelcoming in a whole thread. Double space on a new sentence also, small things add up
This is advice I was given similarly when trying to pass my English writing coursework and so on, I have some teachers for relatives but normally English, comprehension etc is my worst subject so I have to be careful. I'm happy to give merit for anyone who put a bit of effort into their post and also says some worth reading.

My position on the forum is exactly the opposite of yours, I'm here solely because of the opportunity to earn money, and due to this I have to study different ICOs, to go deep into the study of various projects. Of my 120 posts there are hardly 5 useful constructive, 80% of my posts are reports of participation in various campaigns, but to improve my positions in the arena of crypto-money I need 10 merits that will take me to the desired rank of Member. The problem is that I'm not a writer, I'm a reader! And as a consequence of merit I do not have, but I need to move on. I think if you want you can and in my posts find what to evaluate, it would be a desire and 10 minutes of free time, there's even an anecdote somewhere there))). You can ask me a question about crypto currency, bitcoin, or I can just go to church and put a candle on your health (a joke).
