Do you know how he managed to do that? (I assume it wasn’t through a BTC donation). I figure it’s an exceptional petition that was granted. I believe a saw a similar case of change of name at some point over the last couple of months, but I did not give it much though. Aight. One of the main reasons I changed usernames is to somewhat prevent confusion with my previous username, as mjglqw could easily be used on this site and other sites with miglqw, you get the point. Just to be really extra sure to prevent issues. That's just one of the reasons though.
With that said, if you're decently reputable here on Bitcointalk(or just not a fairly new account that just spams) and if you really have a valid reason/excuse of getting your username changed, there's a good chance that Theymos might consider. That's what I think at least.
Or maybe Theymos was just in the mood. Idunno. 🤷

Correct. There's no point in continuously scraping 2.7 million usernames to find at most a few name changes per month. 
Sorry, I did not remember that list made by your data scraping, not from theymos' data dump.

I know that using forum search function with formerly usernames do give results with new usernames (when I did my thread for donators and VIP members).

Do you need my help, LoyceV? I can merge files and see which users have inconsistent usernames between weeks, if you need help.
I don't think you can help: if a username doesn't exist in my list of usernames, I have to search for members. That's not much of a problem, other than that my Trust list viewer update isn't done yet when I wake up, and needs manual intervention.I've bumped Request @theymos: Can you show userIDs instead of user names in trust.txt.xz?, hoping for a fix from theymos

Probably not many in the overall, but at least we know that some petitions are being attended to without the donation requirement.

By the way, LoyceV, yesterday, when I update my thread: I found that there are errors for the case of Cobra (total earned merits are 268, https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.53518845).
Thanks! I've had that problem before since moving servers: it works fine from a terminal, but from a cronjob something is different (environment variables?), which causes certain usernames to be treated as binary instead of ascii. I'm testing a fix now (but not from a cronjob), so if the problem is still there next week, let me know.
