in this case, coingecko and coinmarketcap have different requirements to display the price and volume for a coin. but I also use both site for check price and volume coin. although I still use coinmarketc very often, but I also use coingecko quite often because there are some coins that are not listed on coinmarketcap. I am pretty sure that almost all crypto users do this.

Both are popular, but I usually visit coinmarketcap just to check to the prices of the altcoins. I think it is hard to list the coin in the coinmarketcap, maybe too many requirements in order to list there.

CMC and coingecko both very useful for us, i used to use both however i am confused why many coins and tokens not listing in CMC but listing in coingecko, not only coins and tokens but also many exchanges, is this because coingecko become more popular than CMC, or for something else.
CMC has stronger parameters in order to be listed on their website than coingecko and whether you like this or not will depend on your preferences, some may like to see a smaller number of coins and to see only the best coins that we have in the market.

Personally I prefer coingecko and its policy of listing most of the coins in the market, because at least it give us a more accurate view of how many coins we have in this market and how popular they really are.

Both are useful but i prefer CoinGecko. Because not all new tokens list in market always list in CoinMarketCap, but most of Token listed in exchange, there are listed in CoinGecko too.
Other reason, i always check token price in CoinGecko Telegram bot. This is more easy than visit website.

CMC has a big requirement for their listing, AFAIK, a coin to be listed in CMC has to be listed in 2 exchanges, I think that's the basic requirement and that is regardless of the trading volume now. Actually there's a lot of useful tools out their but it's good that coingecko is now getting popular and not just CMC is what people are looking as sometimes their data are not reliable.

Not sure that Coingecko is more popular than Coinmarketcap, in my opinion, why Coingecko is listing coins / tokens that are not listed on Coinmarketcap I think because Coingecko wants to get traffic from here and yes, this method is quite effective for them but still it looks like Coinmarketcap is still superior compared to Coingecko, btw I use both

Because to be registered with Coinmarketcap or CMC, there are several requirements that must be met first. Such as trading volume and also must be listed on several exchanges.

Coinmarketcap requires an asset to be listed in at least two exchanges and have liquidity before listing whereas Coingecko list any asset, regardless of this so that's why you'll find more assets on the latter and it is a valuable resource especially for newly released projects that don't yet have multiple exchange listings

In some cases of course CMC and Coingecko have their respective considerations and rules for including tokens or coins or exchanges in their lists. Although overall the two websites provide almost the same information, comparing prices and quality globally. I also often use both to check prices, because this is very efficient when we can see price comparisons from various exchanges in one click.
The price graph could differ though. It seems they are taking the price chart from different sources and there's a time when one of them encounters an error in their directories. I personally uses CMC more than coingecko just because it pleased my eyes by looking relatively clean.

CMC and coingecko both very useful for us, i used to use both however i am confused why many coins and tokens not listing in CMC but listing in coingecko, not only coins and tokens but also many exchanges, is this because coingecko become more popular than CMC, or for something else.
Very hard to list Binance and more hard to list coinbase. Coin or token is listing on exchange doesn't depends on popularity. Extremely clear that coinmarketcap is more popular than coingecko. Did you ever heard that any project so much excitement to get listed coingecko.
True, although coingecko works exactly the same as CMC popularity affects a lot. People already have the mindset of thinking that anything listed in CMC is legit while that's actually not true but however, being listed in CMC will give a good first impression to anyone who hears the coin.
We only can trust the data provided by this both website but it still cannot the legit of the projects. So use your common sense before judging anything in this both website. CMC and Coingecko is a good website to look some data about  the projects you want to join but you still cannot trust it blinded cause this day the projects can easily turn to scam even it has listed on CMC or Coingecko.

Both are good but in Coinmarketcap there is a condition for them to be there as I know at least listed on the 2 famous exchanges, have a good volume and many more that I do not know.
Different from Coingecko which is just as limited as purchase like their price reader blog before listing and there is any price they could have registered there. More to the giving of information to what project we check it.

There are many coin and exchanges being listed on coigecko than coinmarketcap (CMC) simple reason is because its easier for coin to meet the requirements of listing on coingecko than on coinmarketcap (CMC). The requirement for listing a coin  on Coinmarketcap (CMC) involves that the coin is being traded on Atleast two crypto exchanges which are also on Coinmarketcap and for a coin to be on CMC it has to meet a minimum daily  trading volume.  So coin getting listed on coingecko rather than on CMC its because od their inability to meet up with CMC strict requirements
Agree with this, it is tol hard for the coin to be listed in CMC, in order for them to list their coin, the coin needed to be listed in top exchanges or in the list of exchanges provided in the website of CMC, a coin needed enough budget to for them to be listed and also only those who have a potential are having a chance to part of it, they are very strict indeed  , but Ive seen a lot of coin in CMC are reallg a good coin and good for investment, I think they are choosing only the best one.

Both are useful for crypto users, investors and crypto community but CMC is more useful than coingecko and CMC is providing latest price of all altcoins that are listed in exchanges and very helpful to check the history of any coin but coingecko providing info about exchanges rating ICO and also about price but CMC is very useful.

In order to be listed on CMC a project needs to pay them or have decent volume on a popular exchange. There are a lot of good projects that don't want to waste their money on bribes and exchange listings so you find them on coingecko.

Both are useful tools but CMC is more popular than Coingecko! Coingecko has something unique features like Exchange trust score, ICO review and many more but CMC only has token price chart, trading view and exchange rankings which also have in Coingecko! But CMC has some strong rules to get listed there where any coin/token project easily can get listed in Coingecko, that's why it has more coins listed than CMC! To me, this lot of token listing is a drawback in Coingecko!
This is true, Coingecko provides you more information about cryptocurrencies and also on Coingecko you will find also more coins, that are not listed on Coinmarketcap.
But, I am used to use Coinmarketcap website, like most people here and that is why I use Coinmarketcap more often (everyday)  Cheesy.
I have used both sites for checking the daily turnover and volumes for the major altcoin pairs but the CMC information is more reliable. The requirements for listing the token in CMC are not simple and the $100k daily volume altcoins can apply for listing in this site. The Coingecko has more choices and the simple, smooth user interface attracts the traders too.

I am not very familiar with Coingecko but in the other hand, Coinmarketcap started here in bitcointalk with a thread. During its start I remember them receiving many advertisements from investment scams. They finally left bitcointalk when  they are receiving negative trusts but that time they were already very popular in the whole crypto space. At present I don't see scam advertisements anymore. Coinmarketcap is becoming big and rich and they are also careful with its reputation.
