CMC and coingecko both very useful for us, i used to use both however i am confused why many coins and tokens not listing in CMC but listing in coingecko, not only coins and tokens but also many exchanges, is this because coingecko become more popular than CMC, or for something else.

I heard to be listed on coinmarketcap they must meet several requirements and one of the requirements is they must pay to be listed there. so maybe because of this many altcoins and exchanges cannot be found there. and coingecko are different, they don't seem to have any requirements, because lots of coins that have just finished IEO can already be found there. so maybe this is what distinguishes it.

With regards to their interface, popularity and utility. All I can say is that, they are both addressing the needs of the people. They are helping us to know what are the coins fluctuating in a real time. I believe that they are just both equal in terms of giving services to the people yet CMC is the first one that made this and there are coins only found in CMC and vice versa.
If I will choose between them, I will choose them both because more options lead to more specifical data in finding good coin.

I am still using CMC most of the time for my regular peeks at the market movements and price actions but Coingecko is way more thorough and is featuring very obscure tokens as well, the ones that are not listed on CMC and the ones that are trading only on tiny exchanges or are not trading at all, so yes, there is a strong usability for both platforms.
Honestly more traders use CMC for monitoring price , but in terms of exchange real volume and stats coingecko is the best . You can see the difference from wash trading and real trading volume of every exchange.

Coinmarketcap is much more popular. It is the oldest crypto related source that is being used already a bunch of years. Coingecko is a pretty new one, but provides a much brighter view on existing crypto currencies.

for those who want to find information about prices, exchanges, and other things for new projects Coingecko is the most appropriate choice. at coinmarketcap sometimes we can't find information like that. but both are also good, both websites help me so that I don't always login in exchanges just to see the latest prices.
Coingecko helps to keep track of the prices for shitcoins that have not yet had the opportunity to lists on the coinmarketcap. to get listed on the coinmarketcap you need certain achievements

CMC is very strict and not all coins qualified for that. If the project really wants to get a good exposure then considering CMC is a good choice for them. Coingecko is more on reviews quiet different to CMC but yeah they are good and useful to us. If a coin is not listed on CMC, I’ll probably skip that coin and look for something else.
I can see your point but sometimes because of everyone so keen on being on CMC lead to all sort of thing (scam coin willing to pay money to meet CMC's requirement). This is why Coingecko exist.

I'm not comparing the two sites. Because both of them are very useful, cmc and coingecko have their own special features. For me as long as they make it free for users to access cryptocurrencies information, independent and not manipulate, I am grateful. About The listing standards issue is their authority, I have no problem with it.

Because this two site have their own requirements need to follow before allowing to list on their site like need to certain volume good exchange site etc. But CMC is more popular compare to coingecko impact I'm not using coingecko I must prefer the cmc after all.

I used to visit coinmarketcap because at that time there was only one place where information could be trusted (about rising prices and markets).
for now I prefer to go to Coingecko because in my opinion it is more complete and there is information about market reputation and the advantage is that it supports the information feature of converting BTC to any coin (just for calculating, very helpful).
Both are very useful.

I like Coingeko more than Coinamarketcap because of usability
There is also a good site - coincodex, low-liquid tokens are shown there, there are those that are not displayed on other sites

I Agree that both CMC and CoinGecko are very useful in terms of data gathering and insights, But i think those issue's and accusation that surfaced about CMC that it was promoting scam projects, for the right price should put into consideration, that's why don't just rely those data that supplied by those platforms just compare it to other sources to make it more appropriate and secure.

The CMC website displays complete statistical data about prices and cryptoqurrency listings, but I personally always use both of these sites to find out information about prices, coins and market charts. the two sites are almost the same but different, it is important that these two sites help us especially cryptoqurrency traders.

True both can be relied on, especially Coinamarketcap, in my opinion the data is accurate compared to Coingecko, but not much different, Coinmarketcap is widely used because it has been popular for a long time so people will go to Coinmarketcap to check prices and see market capitalists.

In my opinion, Coingecko is not as popular as CMC but Coingecko shows its quality. As far as I know there are a lot of projects that spend money to be listed on CMC even though those projects are quite bad. Coingecko is limited to that, so I think it is better than CMC.

Am as confused as you. Although both seem useful, but I always think CMC is the best because CMC often have up to date information about a particular coin or token or exchange.

coingecko is popular but cmc is more popular if were to ask because i think cmc exist first and cmc are being advertise anywhere before  . when it comes to listing both can be different because they are not owned by the same source  .  others said that coingecko is better because it shows legit results while i heard alot of complaints from cmc saying that its being manipulative  .  for me my choice would still be cmc over coingecko because i find it easier to navigate   .
Both coinmarketcap and coingecko are the sources mostly followed by users for the market changes and growth happening with time. There will be variations in the market on each website which is particularly based on the sample taken by both the service renders. Some find coinmarketcap to be the better data provider while some prefer coingecko. My preference is coinmarketcap.

both are indeed a reference that is widely used by people even though both have differences in the list of coins but the usefulness that is owned is not much different. I used to use a coinmarketcap instead of coingecko, because I was used to checking with it
