I was employed by an ecommerce using coinbase and I had so many terrible surprises from them and from their criminal-like support that I am not surprised by this problems.
Think about the problems that an ecommerce can have if it suddenly stop receveing notifications of users payments... yes, it happened, thanks coinbase and your modus operandi of "hide the problems under the carpet and no one will ever know"  Angry

Indeed I still think coinbase is trusted and good they maybe sometimes made mistakes but mostly they are also fixing this and are helping a lot of people.

I agree with you about this, I still think they are trusted enough and this little mistakes probably happen. As I know they sort their problems fast so maybe OP is just don't have patience. I understand him, cause for that money I would like things to happen fast, and every waiting would drive me crazy.

So I hope they will solve this problem, and that OP will inform us here about his situation. Its always good to be aware of things that happen on internet, with big and small services. That can help people when choose to whom to trust.

I have heard several complain from people in regard to Coinbase. Is there something brewing that we don't know?, how can they hold a persons fund without any explanation?. Another person complained that his account was closed because he withdrew funds from a gambling site to coinbase. is this really justified?. I think the writing is on the wall and those of us who are using coinbase wallet should read it. it's time we moved all our funds to another wallet, i can't wait for a disaster.

Blockchain is the safest and the best way to store bitcoins. i would suggest you to change your btc wallet. Moreover their new wallet looks uber cool and has three layer protection!
Having a desktop wallet beats all online wallets in terms of security. You should be trusted with your own money - don't let other companies control your funds.

True alltough sometimes it's good to have your bitcoins available without your wallet (if you can't afford a trezor f.e). Then coinbase and blockchain seems to be good alternatives.
With both of them i haven't encountered any problems like OP did.

How is this even legal? A company can just decide to hold my money for no reason at all? Or lie about it taking 10 business days? Do I have any recourse here?

Another one is Paypal. They recently had to pay an average of $10 to the customers accounts whom they held fiat funds for periods longer than anticipated. They can afford to do this, because they fine vs how much money they make on that money used is more than what the fine is.

Try the support again, I don't think Coinbase will want to compromise the reputation level of the service.

Coinbase was trusted for me also, I haven't used coinbase for buy bitcoin, but I used  only the wallet of coinbase to storing some of my btc there, and I never faced any issue their. I don't know what happened with OP, how he lost 10k usd, by the way I left coinbase while a ago, may be they are now started to scam users. if so then this is very bad thing.

Yes coinbase is trusted i use it really for many months and for that i dont really face any problem with it and still using it today i think it is some error happen there maybe try contact the support of coinbase maybe it can help, for this serious matters i dont think they well do scamming since many people use their wallet and this problem can ruin their wallet and it can give bad impression to wallet users,  so by that contact support and do legal things so they can fix it for you.

Op, have you consulted with your bank? My bank has been really helpful at times that I was in need. Even if they're unable to help directly by reversing the transaction, they four refer you to a suitable course of legal action.

A few bad experiences shouldn't be called the end of coinbase...

Yes, it sucks very hard, but I'm sure they will work it out if you stay patient and polite. You can provide proof through bank statements that you have actually send the fiat to their account, so there is no way for them to ignore that.

Remember, stay calm. By getting angry you only get resistance from them.

If there were a single company that could be labeled the most evil and destructive to what Bitcoin represents, it would be Coinbase.

i choose Mtgox.

Me too. Mt Gox has been worst.
Coinbase make buying Bitcoin easy for average Joe like me.

I was expecting such kind of news sooner and later when coinbase problem surfaced.

Thanks to God, I have transferred all my BTC from coinbase to another wallet. I feel coinbase is going to be closed soon and that will create a lot of problem in BTC market.

I have been going back and forth with coinbase for the last 2 weeks trying to buy more BTC. They claimed my orders were being blocked by my bank, which I dealt with and resolved. Anyway last week two separate charges of 5k each were pulled from my bank account with zero BTC give to me. So my bank wasn't the one blocking the charges and Coinbase just decided to take my money.

I received an automated response that I should get a refund within 3-4 days. After dealing with the extremely unhelpful customer service guy, Alex I was told today to check back in with him in 10 business days. What does that even mean? 10 business days from when? How can they just decide to hold on to $10,000 and leave me hanging? I am shocked a business can act this dishonest to a customer of several years. What can I do here? I can't afford to just lose $10,000

I`m sorry about your case. Many people say that the end of Coinbase is near and they will bankrupt.

I`ve deleted all my coinbase wallets before 5 months, because i had a login issue.

The coinbase customer support isn`t very helpful indeed.

seems the OPs issue has been resolved because he has just thrown over 5bitcoin at some shitcoin.
I sent 5.8 btc to the ICO and I only have 26837 waves. That seems less than I should have gotten. Is something up?
