It can be for manipulations or by default. Basically coinmarketcap Updates coin's price in delay but if someone put a buy order with a high price in any exchanges then coinmarketcap will show higher price too. It is very easy to manipulate coinmarketcap. About 3 days ago, Ubex added on Fatbtc exchanges, One UBEX price was 0.037 USD in other exchanges but in fatbtc Price went to 0.78 USD because of someone's buy order at 0.78! So, all the time you can't say it is for manipulation or by default.

Hello,

sometimes I see coins on coinmarketcap which shows extreme gains,
but when I look at the exchanges, the price is much lower.

For example 6 $ on Coinmarketcap and 2 $ on an exchange.

How is that possible? Is this a bug or manipulation?

according to my experience how this really happens is because most likely coinmarketcap only takes the price depending on the last order history. and besides that there are also those who take the value from the sell order

I think no bugs in here. Coinmarketcap collects informations from all the exchanges. So your price number which you see on coinmarketcap is average of all exchanges. Stay calm and be ready.
it's probably the right way to respond to an issue, don't panic and always be careful with false information.
I still believe cmc provides the right and reliable information.
so far I use it.

Probably not. It's the same-aggregator of different exchanges, and this site displays different prices on the pages of specific currencies depending on the exchanges where they are traded. Coinmarketcap should be looked at to understand the big picture.

I think its not a manipulation because sometimes the coinmarket is not updated that's why if you look to exchange they have different price. I think much better to follow what's on the market because they updated it soon. Because when coin is got listed in a different exchanges they have different price too so much better to look in coinmarket.

I don't think. I believe that this is just a duck, which was launched in order to spoil the reputation of this resource.
I agree with you on this. In my opinion, I don't think this has been a market manipulation because there would be too many factors to consider and would be difficultly achieved by a member.

It's not a manipulation possibly a bug on exchange sometimes if the exchange is on maintenance and CMC will get the buying for that time.
Yep and sometimes its just a delay on the side of coinmarketcap. Also coinmarket cap is just a place where you can see the value of coins and it will not affect much the price since you will still focus on the actual price of your coin in an exchange, so technically there is no manipulation on this.

I think coinmarketcap updates slowly. And it collects some infomations of many exchanges. Sometimes i don't care about the price of altcoins. I only care about the vision of project because i'm investor.
Yes sometimes it can be updated slowly on which we could not be affected because we should believe on the coins project not on its price on which can help it to pump its price in the future and can help to encourage many people to invest and hold it for a long-term.

my opinion of how CMC work:
for XXX coin that trade on several exchanges
exchange1-@ trading price is 50sat
exchange2-@ trading price is 51sat
exchange3-@ trading price is 60sat
exchange4-@ trading price is 55sat
for this XXX coin CMC will show you the average price (50+51+60+55)/4=54sat

It wouldn't matter if coinmarketcap.com is manipulated, for me I think it is more like
a bug because there's no use manipulating coinmarketcap.com, coinmarketcap.com is
an overview of the cryptocurrency market and not an exchange platform.

Judging by many discussions in the network and the real facts, the errors (or special actions) of the Coinmarketcap team led to panic in the market more than once. Manipulation is, but it is difficult to say whether it is intentional or not.

Yes manipulation does effect the price and that's why prices are varying among different exchanges but I haven't seen  this much big difference in prices among exchanges as you are stating i.e 2$ and 6$. It would probably a bug if there is 3x difference in price.
Can you elaborate that about which coin are you talking about? and what was the exact values you have noticed?

That's correct mate it's big difference gap value, did you think that's is true or its only self analysis from the op of this topic, since i start to monitor the price value of altcoins in the market between exchange i can't encounter this scenario.

Will in thats situation I thinks thats there is different between the coin market caps and the exchanges trading site's interms of preference of price and value, because in coin market the true rate value is there but the exchanges site's needs more profit especialy those who works more processing fee instead the markets price its $ 6 they turn its into $ 2 in order to gain more profit, therefore the reason is bussiness.

Nah, I also don't think this was a price/market manipulation. In fact it was all to do with one bad news and that's what stroke down the healthy recovery of the BTC market we enjoyed for about 2 weeks. Though, its crazy how volatile the market is.

Maybe delay? or manipulation of exchanges? all possible. but be careful as sometimes there's a maintenance on going so the law of supply and demand there is different but the trade is still in working.
