Question 1. Why would you rely on that service to tell you the price of your coin?

Question 2. Dont you know what exchange site your coin is trading at?

They all have telegram channels now so they could update you into where they would be listed. It is a good thing for them too so I bet they will be putting it in pinned messages.

Doubt. Such actions require too long hands, and this service does not have such opportunities. So my answer is no.

CMC is using the average pricing method to show the prices. So in this one they will take the prices from all the exchangers where that particular coin is listed and thus they will show you very different price than the current market. Now, why the prices are different on the different exchangers ? Well the prices are completely dependent upon the 24 hour volume that is being traded on that particular exchangers and most of the time it only differs by few % change and more than 3% or something. Otherwise that would become unreal to trade same coin on single exchangers. But yeah this is the real reason as to why we see different prices everywhere with little difference in them.

Yes, as far as I know, on coinmarketcap sometimes there are price manipulations for the purpose of collapse or Pampa of a certain cryptocurrency.

No. Coinmarketcap is just a monitoring that reflects the current situation on the exchanges. If there are manipulations with the price of a certain cryptocurrency, then these manipulations occur on the exchanges. You should always look at the daily trading volume of the cryptocurrency of interest. Sometimes the situation is that the cryptocurrency shows an increase of 100% per day, and the trading volume was only $2000. That is, it was dispersed by several speculators.

Different exchanges, for example in Africa, bitcoin can now cost $ 10,000 and in Europe 7,000 . Therefore, it happens on the coinmarket, the cryptocurrency market is very interesting for arbitration .

Maybe I do not think in manipulation but because a little maintenance errors.
When Coinmarketcap connects the application to the Exchange website it may take a few seconds to connect.

If only the Exchange website is interrupted then the signal sent to the Coinmarketcap was hampered, so later will be seen the price is not the same.

Hello,

sometimes I see coins on coinmarketcap which shows extreme gains,
but when I look at the exchanges, the price is much lower.

For example 6 $ on Coinmarketcap and 2 $ on an exchange.

How is that possible? Is this a bug or manipulation?
I'm thinking that there are some time needed in order to update the information about coin price, probably you have spotted the time when it was not synchronised with the exchange price.

It is a matter of updating real time data from all exchanges which is listing the coin, if I guess that the difference is in big gap perhaps exchange price was dump heavily and not yet updated on coinmarketcap. So you see exchange price is $2 while on coinmarketcap is still $6.

I guess that coinmarketcap cannot update the price of the market in every hour. There will be a time limit specifying the coinmarketcap required to update the price of the crypto market. I think is two hours updated once

It can be a manipulation but not by CMC as everything is automated on their side. If a coin is listed only on 1-2 exchanges
and there is no liquidity on the market  the price can  easily be manipulated  with unreal under/overpriced orders. For example
Anybody can make  some artificial buy/sell orders and the CMC will show that price .Where  the interest is  to do it ? Usually we can see such manipulations at some shitcoins price when the team behind (usually the DEV) makes these orders to cheat investors that there is higher demand for the coin than it is for real.
Sometimes some traders does it also to confuse the market to go to his favour as there is no other price reference than CMC, but this is doable
only with small trading volume coins like $ 1k -2k.

Coin market cap is only a directory of a coin.. But i do not agree that cmc is manipulated the price of all the coin.. Thats why they have a different kind of exchanger.

CoinMarketCap does not have time to update its data in the case of sharp price movements on the exchange, which is probably why there is such a difference in price. What kind of coins do you see?

Not a manipulation thing which had been mentioned earlier that price do shows on average total on all exchangers on where a coin is being traded on. Sometimes pumps do affect this one where coinmarketcap doesnt able to update recently when you checked it out which you can presume or do tell why the price is like that but sure thing that it isnt a manipulation thing. Price would vary on each exchange.

No it's not manipulated. Every hour CMC updated their site to Update all the coins. I think read more about CMC for you to know if it's manipulated or not Smiley

There are hundreds of coins on coinmarketcap and the APIs don't always work. It takes a long time to get support when an error is noticed to when they have time to correct it. Also, you have to ignore pump and dump groups that cause price anomalies

I never seen the big different price like that so far, i think that just little bit problem in their API. Sometimes the price of crypto in exchange and in the coinmarketcap little bit different, this is because low liquidity of price crypto and low in trading volume.

Originally I did not know exactly, I do not want to be someone who has bad prejudices without any evidence.

But I have a reason, that each exchange will have a different volume. So sometimes exchange one with other exchange will have different price and market.

The possibility of coinmarketcap collecting data from all the exchange, so the sum of each volume will occur.

It's not coinmarketcap's manipulation. Coinmarketcap's API not too fast like Price up down. And sometimes, Exchanges have the same mistake. About three days ago, I traded in IDEX with an altcoin. Coinmarketcap showed me 0.12$ Per Coin, But I sold on IDEX at 0.45$ Per coin! Such a huge gap! So, It's not manipulation. Actually, Coinmarketcap adds price a little bit lately.
