I would really like to get into masternodes, but find it intimidating. I don't understand how to technically set one up, don't have a dedicated computer for it and they have all gotten so expensive because of masternode popularity. Guess I'll just miss this opportunity, but there are many others, can't do everything.

Running Solaris (XLR) Masternode.. You will need 1000 coins (+/- 1200$) for it to run. Another option that is not active yet ZEn (Zencash). 42 coins needed . Around 900$

Look into DAS. Had my node up for a good while now. Also its pretty cheap right now to get in. But thats my best example at the moment.

If I recall, an exchange recently shut down, locking the ability to sell any accumulated coins.

For those new to masternodes (read: those deploying hard-earned capital), be sure that the coin is traded on multiple exchanges.

Do you guys recommend to use this site to monitor the return on investement of masternodes? https://masternodes.pro/
Or is there a better source to find out about all the different masternodes that exist ands their specs?

PRO does a good job.

The largest List of solid masternode coins with the most detail - click the coin name for advanced stats...

https://masternodes.online/

Many thanks!
What about the accuracy of masternodes.pro and masternodes.online? Are the stats mostly reliable?

I cannot believe how cheap some of the current MN coins used to be and how much they have pumped over the last few months.

There are alot of coins with masternode i suggest setting up a masternode in bitsend before the price goes up its masternode cost is around 2.5 btc or if you cant afford it you can use chaincoin instead which only cost 0.027 which is very cheap but it needs to be open 24/7 which you need a vps for it.

Any new coins with nodes ?

Nodes as in masternode or just normal node? If you are talking about masternode, there is a lot of upcoming masternode. Just like syscoin needs 100k to be a masternode but the mainnet is not yet release. So you have to wait for it. Similarly, etp, qtum and safex when moving to mainnet, there is possible to have nodes in mind.

Because Dash almost beat Bitcoin's number of nodes. Here are some list of altcoins with masternode:
NEM, PIVX, CRW, TX, EXCL, MUE, BLOCK and BTA.

 source : https://steemit.com

CRW is a very good coin with masternode. Servicenode is readying now ..... for just 500 CRWs. I recommend to look :-)

Yes CRW has some good ideas, I'm looking forward to running some system nodes when the software is ready.

But for low entry cost and good ROI, CRAVE is very good as well and quite undervalued right now.

I absolutely agree. CRW and Crave are very stable and interesting coins, the masternode works great. Masternode from Crave is currently very cheap.

If you haven't tried yet, I suggest you check VIVO Masternodes. You can set it once you have approximately 1000 VIVO coins or equal to 0.97113 BTC at the current rate to run its nodes. Aside from VIVO, some of the available masternodes you can try are PIVX, Bitcloud, Linda, Memetic, ExclusiveCoin, DASH, InsaneCoin, Crave, TerraCoin, and MarteXcoin.

Buying a new masternode with extremely high ROI is like catching a falling dagger.  More people will have MN then the divided MN earning will be less... then people started to fire sell and you are catching a falling dagger.

If so, then best for you is dash, extremely low ROI and high price. But stable

Right. Sometimes it is better not to knit and stick a little less costly than risk a large sum and lose everything. In this case you would have to start all over again. Be realistic when you think there is a good chance of winning.
