Why are we talking about alts in this thread? WTF???

why are we asking for instructions on how to use asic after ordering 250k usd worth.is it known how to use these things to mine.. come on now.

This is a CoinTerra Bitcoin miner thread. It is about the CT units and I am asking how to operate it.

You are talking about alt coins. I hope you get banned.

Everyone please report this off topic stuff to mods.

do 5 min research stop asking to be spoonfed

think about what you actually asked. 91 pages in.months after ordering 10's of TH worth. "So, is it known how to use these things to mine?" what do you think? no..nobody know how to operate ASIC and nobody have any clue how to mine bitcoin, they are just using them as paperweights Roll Eyes..wasting space just as much as what you are complain about

the issue is the alt-coins, not the assistance in getting started with a cointerra product. one of those issues is off-topic and the other one 100% belongs in this thread

So, is it known how to use these things to mine?

Easy to set up?

Anyone know how to do this?

I would be new to ASICs.

Links would be awesome. Thanks

No instructions with mine, but it was pretty easy to get up and running - just SSH into the box once you see it appear in your dhcp leases - credentials are username:root password:cointerra - then you edit the cgminer.conf in /Angstrom/Cointerra and add your pool info.

You can do it via the web interface too, but I found editing the files to work more reliably.  Let me know if you need any help setting it up via PM.

Hmm...I just got an e-mail back saying that the December units will finish going out on Monday and only then will the January units be shipping which is pretty different than what goat was told.

yeah but i did not exactly trust what they told me. but then again i guess if you buy enough of them you get them sooner.
I dunno, I didn't spend a quarter million but still, I bought a low double digits number of units so it wasn't exactly chump change.
Don't feel bad.  I spent many times more than goat and still getting any information from them is like pulling teeth.

really, you spent $1,000,000 or so?   im going to call BS

anyway with a friend on the inside of the company and a nonstandard contract that gives us more rights it still takes about 5 days for me to get an email i dont really trust.

in the end if it comes to it my lawyer is ready but there is not need for that now.

The other day I found out I had some crazy six degrees of separation kinda connection to one of the executive assistants at Cointerra, apparently they used to be the secretary for a CEO who's a friend of a friend of a friend.  Of course this didn't get me anything, but I still found it pretty surprising.  I wonder what they offered to get a high end secretary to jump ship.

Butterfly Labs is facing a lawsuit for over $5 million that alleges that it was negligent in its business dealings, and even accuses the company of downright fraud.

Just caught this on Coindesk.  I'm confident that my units will arrive from CT.   But it's nice to know that people are starting to stand up to these multi-million dollar companies that don't follow through and I hope any new companies think twice about taking advantage of customers.

I built my own colo in PA.
Oh nice, that was my original plan but we hit a snag with power costs because my mining partner relocated from a place with 9 cent/kwh power to a place with 25 cent/kwh power, so in the meantime we're looking at just paying someone else to colo it someplace with cheap power.  I've been thinking about building a colo in Nevada since the power costs there are pretty cheap but the weather in the summer is gonna drive cooling costs through the roof.

Alaska good for cooling Smiley

Anyone know of any cheap colocation around NJ, PA, CT

There was a person who spent about $1M worth of BTCs on Cointerra hardware, it may have been him.

On a side note, these standalone mine an ALT coin and rip it to shreds.  I was decimating Battlecoin last night.  You need to tweak the queue size to get it to work without getting spammed with pool 0 not giving work fast enough.  Once you do it kills the SHA ALT coins.

Should you increase the difficulty of the work you are asking for to avoid the 'not fast enough' issue?

Hey, which colo do you use?  I'm in the NYC area as well and have been trying to figure out what the most affordable colo is since my power system really can't handle this new power requirement, so far I've been thinking about Utah and Texas since power costs are relatively low there, but if PA is an option I'd love to know.

Anyways, did CT send you a tracking number in advance?  Or do these units just show up randomly?

I built my own colo in PA.

You will get an email like "Your order is complete" with the UPS tracking number.

Word of advice to all you new miners.  Dont mine BTC.  Mine ALT coins and trade for BTC.  Much better returns.  I am not sure why people panic over BTC difficulty when the real returns are in trading, not mining.  If done correctly the mining just offsets any negative trades while your positive trades beat the returns off of just mining BTC directly.

Is there any info on the Terraminer II, like spec's? All I have found is for the Terraminer IV.

FWIW two cointerra rigs arrived today at my hosting facility and are now hashing away.  No tracking number, they just arrived.

Will

december batch?

Yes, early December batch.

for proof.  Got a few more expected over the next few days.

That's the pic I've been waiting to see. Thanks Will, I can now visualize my BFL mules living peacefully in the same pasture with my hopefully-soon-to-arrive CT stallion.
