I picked Tether because in 2022 betting against altcoins turned out to be a good call.
I've added Monero because it's a privacy coin, and one of the few altcoins which I believe to have a long-term future.

After thinking about it for a while, I added Doge, because the damn thing bubbles up once in a while. Who knows, it might do it again.
I've added TryHards just because it sounds cool. And because it's seriously far down the list. Obviously I don't have very high hopes for this one, so don't take this as investment advice.

To dig a little deeper:


1 - Cheqd offers an attractive ssi (self sovereign identity) solution and its market cap is...so ridiculous. And for what it's worth, many qnt og's animate cheqd's community.

2 - I was finally able to enter Aleph Zero in this contest, since it was not possible last year. Having invested from the presale, i strongly believe in this layer 1. (And i'm seeing  i'm not the only one to have spotted it, here  )

3 - Giga : My 2022 nugget. Offered to the community without any vc behind, created by a dev already recognized and respected (minimal risk of rugpull), this multichain otc swap service is revolutionary in more ways than one.

4 - Casper : I hesitated to keep Casper (with Icp): team delivers slowly but the promise is great. Targeted sector is professionals. Probably results wont show before long enough, But I chose to keep it.


If I had to choose other alts, my choice would then have been towards: $Icp (which for me is largely underrated), $Phonon, $Morpheus Network, $Agoric, $Umee, $XXnetwork, $Ubix , $Taraxa...well I'll stop there

I also wish to contribute to this contest by adding a side prize: I will send to the winner the sum in usdt equivalent on December 31, 2023 to: 100 $Cspr + 10 $Azero + 100$Cheqd + 50000 $Gigagswap: this represents today only a little less than 20 dollars but who knows what it will be worth in a year?

Hi there,

For the last years, I've been organizing this little contest. 2022 was the annus horribilis. Will 2023 be the annus mirabilis? I don't know, I hope we don't go any lower.
The idea is to make a small fictitious portfolio on January 1st 2023 and to see on December 31 2023 who has performed the best.
Suppose that you have 1000$ and you want to make a small portfolio with 4 altcoins. Which ones do you choose and in what proportion ?

Restrictions :
You can not take BTC (or wrapped BTC etc...).
You are not allowed to put more than 50% of your portfolio in one altcoin.
You must put at least 5% of your portfolio in each altcoin.
You can only take one stable coin (or none).
Take at least one altcoin beyond the 100th position on Coingecko.
Warning : before choosing an alt, check that on Coingecko, there is a tab Historical data (ex : Bitcoin). If on 01/01/2023, there is no price for your token, it is like playing with 3 Alts.

Explanation :
As the reference "buy" price, I will take the opening price reported by Coingecko in the historical data of 01/01/2023.
And the closing price of 31/12/2023 will be used as reference "sale" price.
The one who will see his or her fictitious portfolio progress the most in terms of value will be declared the big winner.
Whoever bets on the best performing altcoin at the end of 2023 will receive a 100$ bonus on the value of his final portfolio.
Whoever bets on the lowest performing altcoin at the end of 2023 will receive a 100$ penalty on the value of his final portfolio.

Who can participate ?
Anyone as long as you have reached the Member rank (I may lower this limit a little later if there isn't enough participants. Check this post a few days before registration ends if you are a Jr. Member).
You must have received 5 merits between the last 120 days and just before this post.
You must not have any legitimate negative feedback from a DT member (I will decide whether or not a feedback is legitimate).
No multi-accounts, thank you.
Registration end date: 30/12/2022 11:59pm (Paris time).
