Using the API created some new things to deal with (such as scientific notication, which didn't work with bc).
Tomorrow's update should work again
@n0nce: it'll be a few minutes later, I've added a delay between API-requests.

I got worried whether my script was down again, but this time the issue is on your side.
There seem to be some free APIs with hundreds of supported coins, such as https://coinlayer.com. But I can't vouch for any of those. Only ever used CoinGecko's API myself.

CoinMarketCap's API may work as well (but does also require an account):

BNB does work on CMC's API, apparently..

I've checked now, they have wrong explanation of how to find ID of a token. ID for BNB is binancecoin.
While searching there is a redirect with id= parameter. It can also be get with search API lower on the API page. I can list correct ID for the tokens don't work correctly if you name them.

Any idea why bnb isn't working in the API? It works on the site.
There are more coins that don't work in the API.

LoyceV, as long as the trend is good, we won't blame you if there is a small difference with the price.
Keep it simple for you.

You don't have to go that far though since this whole thing is done out of goodwill.

There's a small price difference though:
https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/monero shows $154.28
https://api.coingecko.com/api/v3/simple/price?ids=monero&vs_currencies=usd shows $154.65

They have free API with limitations of 10-30 calls/minute. It's not simultaneously, but 3-4 minutes difference is not a big deal I guess. Maybe if to talk to them they'll allow to use this option with the same IP for our contest?

I tried another server, and it worked again. But I can't keep getting new VPSses, and clearly they don't want me to download 82 pages anymore So unless someone has an idea how to get those pages, I'll have to end daily updates:
Admittedly, I downloaded those pages without delay, because I wanted the data to be as close to midnight as possible.

It looks like CoinGecko changed something, I'm getting a "403 Forbidden". With a slighly different configuration it works again, but not from that server. I guess they've blocked the IP. This is something for tomorrow to fix

Update:
I'm now using a different server to download the data from CoinGecko. Let's see how long this lasts.

@n0nce: I've removed the 2 lines with zeros from my cvs.txt (I use this one to create csv2.txt), this should fix your graph tomorrow. It just means we'll miss a few daily data points.
