Usually when events like this happen the stock markets are the first to react. And especially since the Dow Jones and SP500 were on a crazy rally recently it will leave many investors fearing for a possible recession so they are very trigger happy and generally sell.

The DOW 600 point loss is very small, something like a little over 2% which is nothing considering how much it has gained in the most recent weeks. I think this will all basically roll-over soon similar to how the SARS event which took place in 2002-2003, the markets quickly rebounded and not much was made of it.

This article is for all the world war 3 and Corona virus is good for bitcoin people. It might also not be good. World war 3 will bring an electricity shortage, similar to Corona virus might bring a mining crisis.

The Financial Times provoked the cryptocurrency community with the headline “Coronavirus is good for Bitcoin”

Source https://crypto.bi/tape/wuhan-corona/amp/

   Quote from the article:
-First and most important question : what keeps Bitcoin running? Basically, it boils down to three macro components:
1. Miners
2. Full nodes
3. Functional network connectivity
4. Human operators and sysadmins

Arguments in this article are weak. Miners can have a remote access to mining rigs. Nothing in article say how full nodes and functional network connectivity can suffer from some human virus. Everything in this world depends on human operators and sysadmins, not just crypto-currencies.
Virus hurt people, it's better for us people to use crypto-currencies because they can't transfer viruses, like cash can, handling cards to each other.
Crypto-currencies are a step ahead the virus!
I don't like to think how viruses and wars affect Bitcoin and entire crypto-market. It's a negative side of this world, I don't wish crypto-currencies
to make progress on some people misery, talking about it makes me feel bad.
It's better for us to hope that things will be alright soon and that some doctors will find a medicine for this virus. Crypto-currencies will make
progress, but not on other people misery!

The article is of course arguable, however, the important message here is that events similar to world war 3 or a World War Z zombie virus might not also have an optimistic effect on the price of bitcoin.

Sometimes I shake my head on why we can be so blind.

But I don't get why it should be good for bitcoin, especially when a lot of businesses and corporates are China related, and also conferences and events for crypto are all there. Shouldn't price be going down because of bad news in China?

The OP's question is about whether it'll have an impact, not whether it's good.

I don't think it will. If you think it has any type of relationship with stock markets, and I don't myself, then you might believe it's possible. Stock markets certainly will feel an effect if the problems grow.

That's indeed shows how coronavirus fears hit everyone in the financial market include that oil king ...

Shares... stocks market etc are now hot shaking.
It won't last long , it's just a temporary fear and everything would reflected to normal where it should belong.
These fundamentals rumours more to a bullshit that what trader needed in order to get some profits from the bad weeks .

I get how coronavirus fears hit stocks especially those companies that really rely on travel and on imports from China, etc.

But I don't get why it should be good for bitcoin, especially when a lot of businesses and corporates are China related, and also conferences and events for crypto are all there. Shouldn't price be going down because of bad news in China?

because bitcoin is considered an asset that would retain it's value in catastrophic situations, like gold for example, in case of a war happening, gold its a safe way to preserve your patrimony, same for btc.

i dont really understand why people talking about bitcoin price after the corona virus to china, please bro there is no connection between the virus & bitcoin price, because there is no reason to bitcoin dump because of this virus , even china miners selling their bitcoin because of this virus, there is still more investor who willing to take their bitcoin for long term investment.

so lets stop talking about afillated between corona virus with bitcoin price

Well, it is a global virus now and it may not affect directly to bitcoin’s price but somehow it will. Coronavirus is spreading so fast that it infected a lot of countries now and they said that it can be bigger than SARS, with the threat of the virus to other countries it can effect the countries economy and if the economy collapses then it will indirectly impact the price of bitcoin. Anyhow, lets just pray this virus will be taken cared of as soon as possible for everyones safety.

Perhaps it may have some passive influence on Bitcoin's price and Bitcoin itself. As the OP said people die from the virus and who knows, maybe some of them own some big amount of coins which is going to be lost like forever with the owner's death. So, the number of coins for operations will be shorter and that will up the demand on the remaining ones.
That's my suppose, I do not see how else the virus can affect the price.

Depends on whether you're a believer in any way of stock market correlations. I'm not. You might be.

It's not the illness itself of course, it's the potential economic effects. Plenty of airlines have suspended flights to China now. If it became more serious there might be a concerted attempt to contain it that'll be worldwide that would restrict movement further. That would be felt in the regular markets.

The Wuhan did not affect $BTC prices directly, but I am pretty sure that it did affect the global stock market.

Ergo as The Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.9%, I assumed that most traders thought about moving to a safe haven which is either #cryptocurrency or #gold - that might be a slight factor of the upward price.

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
Will give impact with corona virus make bitcoin down because the investor from China are not think about bitcoin and altcoin right now and keep focus with their situation healthy from Corona virus, maybe we hope this situation could be fix soon and many investor back for investing with bitcoin to raise with higher price.

You're overestimating the virus and the panic it causes.

There's still no big panic because the virus isn't very deadly. It kills only very weak or old people and there's still not that many cases. It's even speculated that the government can have someting to do with it. A virus killing old and unproductive part of the society can be an easy way to fight overpopulation Wink
actually, it kills many people, moreover it's a virus that hasn't had a vaccine to date. even now their money is useless and they are prepared to exchange their money for their health. You know the reason why this virus has a lot of news, it's because this virus is dangerous and can spread quickly. however, it can affect the price of bitcoin when they sell their assets for their health.

Hasn't have vaccine but glad they found the source of the virus and hopefully next they can find the cure so that the virus will not spread out since if this continue to rise up then it threaten the Chinese economy and the crypto economy since we all know the Chinese players are big in both industry, that's why we need to pray up that this unfortunate event will stop so that no threat for growths will occur these days.

Knowing the source doesn't mean they will be able to vaccinate people or even stop the spread. Check out some other known viruses like ebole, swine flu... They know where they come from but are still only able to treat the symptoms. Once you catch it it's still a big deal and you have 50% chance of dying from it.

There is no correlation at all. A sudden rise in price is not always related to what media deemed to publicize. Always remember, correlation does not mean causation.
But people are really fan on making things connect to each other and its no surprise that this one will really be considered out but if we do really think carefully on how this Corona Virus would impact BTC's price?

We do even see that the current price is soaring above 9k instead, rather seeing some slump if there would be possible connections to it but this one doesnt really have any correlation at all.

Not probably, unless a countries economy collapse because of the virus then their could be an effect financially but indirectly to Bitcoins price.

As of the moment Bitcoin is a virus that continuously growing globally, and we love this virus 😁.
That matters once the countries economy being hitted and heavily affected by this virus, but for now it isn't so there's no any effects that
we seen from the market. Though this virus are being reported from time to time and there are lots of affected countries, but inside crypto
market investors still actively participating.

Around 50 people have died so far,in country with a population over 1.3 billion. Can this be considered "many people"?
^ this guy gets it

oh and in the same ~10 days.. 7000+ people died in china due to road collisions.. so should people abandon roads and are road accidents going to affect the btc price.......... um no

56=corona
7000=car

no one is fearing the car
Some people looks like overthinking about this Corona virus could be the factor causing end of this world after seeing some dramatic videos highlighting how the situation really similar to a zombie movie where the extinction of mankind is near lol.

We've been through similar case where a virus called MERS hit the world 10 to 15 years ago , and the virus has not been seen yet again now. Stop overthinking and correlates everything with the price of bitcoin itself.

The Saudi energy minister made a statement about the crisis, which makes it show that he's taking the corona virus very seriously. "Muh oil prices".

Corona is car or virus, looking the history of car maybe any one remember with Corona car label but why today called with virus, just my joke but I think bitcoin could raise up because impact with Corona virus where many people look care with their healthy and left investment with bitcoin and altcoin for several days later.

Haha I like that! Bitcoin as a virus. Anyway, I am not seeing that the virus crisis has significant impact in bitcoin's price. But in the past hours, bitcoin is gaining a lot. Really good to see that bitcoin is increasing. If this virus crisis has some influence, it is not that vital but maybe a lil bit of contribution. We all know that the bitcoin's price is the combination of too many factors and no one can really pinpoint the major factors in play.
