i notice that only basketball and soccer are mainly affected with the virus problem but why not other sports like swimming , tennin ,volleyball or others  ? maybe because nba and soccer are the most popular in which many people are going to attend it than on other sports  .

this is okay that they cancell the event rather than risking thier selves and become injured or worster thing can happen to them , not only to the players but also the fans and audience also  .
All sports are affected. But obviously, football, basketball, tennis, motorsport get most attention because it's most popular sports. But there is lot of voleyball, handball, snooker, swimming, winter sports, MMA and other fight sports competitions is getting stopped, they just get less attention from media

Basically, almost every major competition are getting stopped.

Not good enough, thought by now all major football tournament will be stopped since it's more of a contact sport filled with audience in their thousands creating a more favourable environment for the Corona virus to be distributed to as much individuals as possible but I'm not impressed. Seems like the governing body of this leagues are more interested in the profit to be made then the health of the fans, players and employees of the stadium this matches are been played in.

I know "the show must go on" but when human health are at risk, the number one priority of any body overseeing any gathering or event should be to keep we (humans) safe from harm. Irrespective of how negative such decision will have to their business our life's is more important.

NHL announces the suspension of the hockey season in north america from today on.

“In light of ongoing developments resulting from the coronavirus, and after consulting with medical experts and convening a conference call of the Board of Governors, the National Hockey League is announcing today that it will pause the 2019-20 season beginning with tonight’s games,” Commissioner Gary Bettman said in a statement on Thursday afternoon.

Turkish authorities has just announced, starting from today to en of April, all sport competition will play without spectators.
Although it has been announced that the matches will continue to be played for now, I think there will be re-evaluations.

Esports events should, IMO, be appended on this thread as well. Lots of money/bets would have went to those events had it not been for the spread of the virus in Europe and fear of getting it over to North America.

ESL One Los Angeles for DOTA 2 is cancelled.
Several League of Legends events, too, were postponed indefinitely.
Apex legends tournaments were also cancelled, and the list goes on..

I think the list isn't necessary but well then, if OP is really dedicated to listing all sports events, then it's free to do so and I appreciate the effort.

Just want to share some on our locals:

PH's biggest and top professional basketball league also cancel games for the whole conference and all its activities indefinitely - link

Sen. Manny Pacquaio's owned basketball league MPBL also follows the same. link

Thanks for adding  Smiley
To be honest this thread may be a dead duck anyway. I’m watching a bit of the sports news now and I reckon within 24-48 hrs every sporting event is gonna be cancelled or at the very least postponed !

I think this list is pretty good as it's getting updated live and the proofs of the info are added there: https://www.cbssports.com/general/news/coronavirus-live-updates-big-ten-sec-big-12-and-more-cancel-conference-tournaments/live/. And there's also a BBC article which can be useful: https://www.bbc.com/sport/51605235. I think we'll have to wait for a few days to see the real impact, as many countries might not have decided what they're going to do or some sporting events have not updated their info yet in accordance with the new regulations... I think that soon all of the big sports events will be postponed until April at least, so the impact will be big.

Great thread, but you should format it a bit and/or put some tables in and divide between countries or sports to make it more clear. I have lost of track of what is cancelled until now and for how long etc. In the end I would think that everything gets cancelled until further notice, but even then, we would at least have a table, where we could put the dates in when certain leagues/sports are expected to resume again - if ever Wink
Yep the thread definitely needs a better format ! I was a bit rushed this afternoon and limited time for the rest of the day . I’ll see if I can have a proper go at it tomorrow when I’ve got a lot more time .

There are so many events that has been cancelled because of this virus,
But it was for the best because it is for the safety of everyone they should prioritize the health of everyone since those event could always continue once the virus is cured,
But the life of those who would be lost because of the virus could never come back.

There is more:

ATP tour was recently suspended for six weeks. (Source: https://www.foxsports.com.my/tennis/atp-tour/152101/breaking-news-atp-tour-suspended-for-six-weeks-due-to-coronavirus/)

I think there are also reports of Segunda Division (Spain) being suspended along with LaLiga. BTW I am glad to see atleast Spain getting serious with dealing with Coronavirus and take precautionary measures.
