I have that same corsair. The other thing is once you put the paperclip in the PSU fan will not run and it's hard to tell it's powered up. The fan will not kick on until the load gets high enough and really gets pretty warm before that happens. I have a small case fan running to keep it cooler.

Odd...I have six CX500s using the paperclip method (put a piece of electrical tape over the clip to prevent inadvertent electrical contact)...When I power the PSUs, the fans spin right away.

ok cheers !
thanks for patience with a noob like me.
now setting the 2nd PSU will be a piece of cake  Cool
First, congrats on your foray into mining... it's addictive.

Each S3 requires a minimum of 2 PCI-e connectors.  The RM1000 has 8, so you're good to go.  The PSU has 6 PCI-e connection points which are clearly labeled.  You'll also have 6 PCI-e cables, 2 of which will have a "double" end giving you the total of 8 available connections.  You plug the 8-pin end into the PSU, and the 6-pin end into your S3 (the 6-pin end is actually a 6+2 setup... pull the "2" away and plug the 6 into the S3).  Make sure you plug 1 PCI-e connector into each side of the S3... don't plug them both into the same side.

For the paper clip, go here: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/rm-series-rm1000-80-plus-gold-certified-power-supply and click on the "FAQ and Support" tab, then the "PSU Paper Clip Test".  Scroll down to see a picture of the ATX plug with the proper holes highlighted.  Shove your paper clip into those holes.

Yes. Wait I think you got the wrong pinin it?

why wrong ? I have 3 pins uncovered to the right? the paper clip goes into the 4th and 5th pin, shouldn't that be right ?

You've got it right.

You only need to connect the green pin to a black one.

Here are the connections you need:

2 pci-e connected from the psu (8 pin) to the miner (6 pin). Also make sure you don't put them both on the same board.

1 20pin cable (with a paperclip) plugged into the psu.

Then just plug the psu power cable into the wall outlet and when you flip the switch it should turn on.

ok, got the first part, 2 pcie (8 win) into the psu and 6 pin into the miner.

now on the 20+4 cable

I have put the paperclip like this, and have to connect the other part of the cable into the PSU, right ? the other end is 10 PIN + 14 PIN (24 PIN total). I have to put all pins into the PSU ?

Hello.I just bought a RM1000 PSU to power 2 antminers S3 but I have no ideea how to set it up.

1.I have many many cables coming with the PSU I don't know which ones to use ???which ones have to go into the PSU and which ones into the S3 ?
can someone give me some examples with screens??

2.In this tutorial https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/guide-dogies-comprehensive-bitmain-antminer-s3-setup-hd-702653 it says I need to insert a paper clip into the green and black wires, but all my wires are black, how am i supposed to know where to insert the paperclip Huh

I do not make any money from him
make an offer for some of them.  I purchased about 1 dozen from him.

I am anti-paper clip ! This cost more then a paperclip,   but for guys like you it is the correct item to buy.

With this PSU you will have to do some counting.  It has a sleek all black cable's.  So no colors, but if you look at picture or another psu you can count as all cables are black.

As always be careful with electiricity/psu.  Don't count wrong or from wrong side.

If paperclip is in right slots... you just plug it in and it turns on.  If you question if you did it right you can get a switch online.

I have put the paperclip in,now what ? where do i put the cable to start the PSU ?
Sorry for these extremely noob questions, never used a PSU before.
Setting up using 8pin hole from the psu with the 8pin pciexpress cable . The cable with one end of 8pin and the other end is 6pin pice.
