I am surprised alts didnt rebound more after the BTG fork.  Im just hanging tight and investing more in BTC
The whole Bitcoin Gold situation is not over yet. The distribution isn't completed yet so we have a little bit more time to see if there will be an altcoin pump.

I don't think we're nearing a bubble, unless in 2018 there will be no project that goes truly mainstream. Something that brings crypto into the spotlight unlike the backstages we've been on until now. If we don't get something that the average Joe can truly understand is revolutionary and easy to use, I could entertain the possibility that there might be a bubble about to pop. But I have high hopes for 2018

I dont know. The growth to this point has seemed pretty organic. I think if we were to see a bubble form, we'd have to witness prices several times the average price of the year and a very sharp increase towards the end. The $ increase to this point has been pretty steady.

We may still be in the early stages of a bubble.

Nope. Bitcoin is spreading worldwide like a disease. We are very far to any end of trend.

It will depend on how segwit2x fork comes out, whether there will be a brutal fight and long lasting damage and confusion to the cryptomarket. If the battle finished quickly, no matter who wins, we might see confidence back in the market and another bubble coming up.

I agree with you OP, crypto world has slowed down. ICO mania as we know it is done, people realised $40m for 7 lines of code is nonsense. On the other hand, all these pointless BTC forks where they print money out of thin air are making people loose faith in BTC and crypto in general.

This might be a good thing in a long run; ICOs will have to lower their caps to normal levels, only the good ones are gonna get their chance and ETH could take over BTC in marketcap and officialy become number one cryptocurrency.
They're making money out of thin air but remember that they have value just because people give value to them

Not even close. This year will be nothing compared to 2018. Everything is going to keep going up. Crypto is still just a little baby.

Did you study the trend?   The only crash we gotten was the MTGox and that had to do with tons of bitcoins going missing.  IF you study the trend where that has not happen you will see bit get a mass increase, then has rollercoaster price fluctuation,  I say it can go to 4500 before it get to the next milestone, has been the same trend and if you think long term, its going to just go up,  if you dont worry about the temp dumps.

In fact, I have been here since the beginning. First generation altcoins had their run and later they fell and consolidated: Litecoin, Dash... This year, these first coins together all the new altcoins like Ethereum, Waves, Monero, etc. ran again even harder. It's a cycle and I'm sure it will happen again as soon as Bitcoin top its current bubble like it happen in the past run from $100 to $1200

Remember, I'm not saying this is over, I really believe there will be a lot of coming runs, but always with its dips between them. Don't forget that Bitocin was almost died since it fell to $200 from $1200 along almost 3 years until it started to hype again.

I think the altcoins market nowadays suffers from useless coins that are being released day by day , thing that caused its temporary weakness , but you should also note that this market is still youthful , so it's too early to talk about altcoins market end .

My oppinion is that we're just near the origins of a new future where cryptocurrencies will totaly replace fiat. You see that people start to pay more and more attention to crypto world. Some desperate believers even sell everything they have to buy BTC hoping to multiply there saving in some years. Those who are sceptic about BTC and ALTs will regret in near future. So the bubble has just started to grow and I don't see any reason for FUD.

I do not think that this will happen so soon, but I think that such a scenario is inevitable
Also, I am inclined to such an opinion and I think it will be but somewhere in 1-2 years

Cryptocoin market has always had its cycles like the stock market. 2017 was a terrific year with tons of runs and it has been very easy to make money, but I think it could be near its end. Market will fall and consolidate for 2-3 years and then another bubble.

What do you think?

no Because normal bank system and real money have power to supervisor next 50 years

In my opinion we're still far away from the masses picking it up. Yeah, it gets featured on news and even TV ads yet, but now is the beginning. As long as there is no critical flaw found in the bitcoin network there won't be a crash. Not yet. Something has to happen for this to become reality.
