I know they are working to make sure they can meet the huge demand that is going to happen as soon as they open sales.
You are right the wait though is rough.

My big problem is this delay.  I feel a lot like it is   a Beanie Baby type sales strategy

That could be cool for sure if the controller supports it.

I don't see how upgrading an S1 would be cost effective. I guess it depends on the chip cost and work required to replace the existing chips vs selling the S1.

you would not replace the chips - you would replace the two PCBs and keep the fan/frame/heatsink.

Its not viable until the S1 is worthless (another 2 months if you undervolt or have cheap power), but would save about $20 in raw materials ($7 fan, $13 aluminum), maybe $5 worth of assembly time, and about $40-60 on shipping. Overall it would be a savings for bitmain of about $60-80 and probably passed on to buyers as a $40-60 discount over an assembled S3.
IT would be cool it the upgrade was a new controller and two new s3 boards with the controller able to control all four boards. 2 x s1 boards undervolted and underclocked plus two s3 board. giving you around 600-700gh/s@approximately 600watts

but if you buy a kit and use a board on one s-1 and the second board on a second s-1 it may be a better move.


  the  2 underclocked pair of s-1s at 140 gh each and 180 gh watts .    = 280gh and 360 watts  1.28 watts a gh

 become     320gh   and 285 watts  each  .   or                                      640gh and 570 watts   .89 watts a gh


you only buy 1 kit not 2 kits  

  A  pretty good boost for   ? 500?  



I have 3 s-1's  running in a low cost   spot    if this works  it is cheaper then any option especially if I can sell the 2 pulled boards on ebay.



my spot is using 3 units at 420gh and 560 watts.

 the one  kit   would jump me to  780gh  and 750 watts. 

  I could do that   same sound not louder big hash boost to keep up. Waiting for a kit price.

Bitmain recently pushed out 4.8 ph/s to the network on AntPool.
I know many people are wondering if it is the testing phase for the S3 as I wonder as well.  I know I cannot wait to have some S3's running here.  The new chip looks awesome.  Do you all wonder about it.
I know the upgrade options are awesome too for S1 and S2 owners.  Bitmain is really pushing new ideas and paths.

that the miners will be at post and then skyhigh difficulty

also to mention almost the same in LTC difficulty
one month that I have bought my gridseeds was at 130gh today is about 370gh

KNC is delivering right now as I type this. BFL is offering cloudmining as compensation for late Monarchs. I started cloudmining with BFL on Monday or Tuesday.

That being said they flipped the switch on with a large portion of the 4.8 ph/s according to my source.  Then they added some private partners as well to the pool so some did come from other pools.
It is very interesting to see how it all works.  I enjoy watching it happen.

Its worth remembering that hash rate doesn't have to go from 0 to existence when it shows up somewhere new. Hash rate jumps all the time from unknown to identified, from pool to pool back to private to solo mining to pool to internal pool etc.

You enjoy watching the hashrate spike?!

 So  if we are at 120ph right now real pool numbers.   Not  the 96ph diff number.   


   There are 6 on the list that are do some of the 24ph.

  Diff will be 22 to 28 % jump  or more.  Hopefully  the entire 24ph   is a mix of the above 6 listed  since diff will go flatter if that is true.

I am assuming that some of the increase is definitely Bitmain.

Asicminer and Bitmain both have chips and both have products that are on the cusp of shipping out. Its quite likely that they are doing all sorts of pre-mining and burn-in testing

I know with so much hardware going to be shipped immanently we are going to see some shakeups that is for sure.
I hope that competition with so many ASIC manufacturers coming on board will get some costs down as well.
The S3s are nice beasts.  I have a feeling they are going to scale up very well. 
Shiny new toys are always fun that is for sure.  Especially when they make Bitcoins.  Grin

how much of the new ASIC devices do we think will add and how many would replace older ones. If you have cheap power, there is no real need to shut down he older ones so the hash rate and therefor diff would rise yes?
