B&H boards is not very popular with most altcoin shitposter and some bounty managers exclude this board as a target ad campaign space.
I don't think we need the bump feature, just create a bump post manually.

If you find old locked threads of another member and you want to update/add something, you can do so by making a new thread and according to the forum rules but still be careful with plagiarism. Read this thread for reference : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/is-it-possible-to-re-create-threads-without-permission-5225314

This should be in the Meta board
I really did not mean shit posts. Sorry if I offended anyone. I meant it more as the more helpful threads to the top! The more useful of ones! I acually did not know I could set preferences for topics! I am going to try and do that now!

OP can modify and set up search parameters, and make request to search for topics of interests in some boards.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search
At the section: Choose a board to search in, or search all.

By default, all boards will be targets of the forum search engine. Let's click at "Check all" at the bottom to uncheck all boards. After that, type "Beginners & Help", for example, to find where the board is listed in the list. Next, check at the checkbox of Beginners & Help board. Finally, click on "Search" to find what you want in the Beginners & Help board.

Alternatively, anyone can just go to the beginner's section, use the search bar and just type on the topics s/he looking at. It works pretty much the same without going through the hassle of checking boxes.

I'm not even sure why we're sharing this since I believe OP is aware of those information. I guess it's for the newbie readers but the topic has been transferred to Meta so......

OP just wants to read really useful informations and I understand why he's finding it difficult to search for technical topics in the beginner's section.

OP just wants to read really useful informations and I understand why he's finding it difficult to search for technical topics in the beginner's section. There are times when the first and second pages are overloaded with scam-fake giveaways-phishing warnings, merit giveaways, and rank up or close to ranking up stories. The section looks to have improved now though with more technical guides or discussion.

@OP if you want to look for a topic that you want to read, you can still use the forum search tab. Bookmark or save them for later reading.

I have really been reading up on alot of the Beginners and Help Section!

I believe it would be a great place to add the Bump feature! I added this to someone Suggestions thread but I am not sure if they have the option to have it added?

I just know that there is a lot of useful information there. You just have to really dig through some of the shitposts to find it!

Like building Secure Passwords! Uses of PGP Signature! How to create a PGP Signature and many more! Just a thought You can delete this if you want I wasn't sure where to "Officially" add it as a sugestion?
"The bump feature"?  Huh What do you call the bump feature? I don't know any bump feature of this kind on bitcointalk, if you ask for a new one, you should explain what you are talking about exactly...  Undecided

If you want to bump a certain post so that newbies get helped, you can simply post "Bump". If you are looking for the same as some other board has, I guess it's not necessary. That will eventually bury the latest thread because of not having enough bump.
Although there are some spam on going on this board too, the amount is not that much as well.

I guess the thread would get better response if you posted in meta. In fact, the thread must be posted in meta section.

Not your keys, not your coins!
I did not see your topic when I replied to your post in my topic, hence I quote my reply here.
I don't think the bump score algorithm will be applied in the Beginners & Help board.

Potential reasons to not apply the algorithm:
  • It is the board for beginners who surely can create simple and 'funny' questions. After creating funny questions, and get answers, they can ask another funny questions, repeatedly. I know there are 'fake' beginners who try to troll or ask stupid questions to promote their services, but let's keep the board for beginners as it has been.
  • Mostly, the board does not relate to financial incentives and very different than  Service Announcements, Announcements (Altcoins), Tokens (Altcoins), Bounties (Altcoins).

Sorry I a bit disagrees of your statement "shitposts" in Beginner & Help section. I think this sections is okay with shitposts, because it's Beginner & Help section. Newbie is free to ask about something they didn't know in this sections even though the question has been asked so many times. This is our role to answer their questions if we understand or more know than him.

I think B&H should be a place where anybody (including noobs) could ask any question, even if it's stupid, even if it's not about Bitcoin, even if it's been asked 300 times before, and get an answer or get redirected where appropriate. Short of egregious repetitive spamming there shouldn't be too many restrictions on which threads are allowed there, and I don't think it needs to be particularly tidy except for a few stickies maybe. No one really goes there to look for an in-depth discussion on some earth-shattering advances in cryptography. Splitting it into multiple boards would just make it more confusing and frustrating for the users it's supposed to help. Perhaps moving threads that fit elsewhere would be a better approach.

Inside each thread moderation should be reasonably strict to prevent from derailing and preemptive locking should be used as well, which appears to be happening. I see lots of reputable users hanging out there answering questions, which is great. All that's left to do is to convince The Pharmacist to unignore it and help newbies.

It would be great if one of the global moderators stick some of the useful topics, it will make it easier for anyone seeking information.

As other said, this suggestions is more good than request Bump feature in Beginner & Help sections.

It depends on what you mean by bump feature.

It seems like you're suggesting a recommendation feature which would suggest quality posts to users. This has been requested before (even by myself) and I've been made to see reasons against it.
It would disrupt the layout of the forum and could potentially lead to more discussions on the algorithm being used to select the best posts to recommend.

I do agree most of the posts there are not shit post. I was just using it as an example!  As was mentioned above maybe stick some of the more useful stuff at the top! Especially beginner rules, merit abuse, Trust feedback and PGP Signature I personally found the PGP information VERY useful!

Do not be offended as most were not shit post lol I just mainly mean the more valuable posts at the top!
