You can still use the original first bitcoin BTC without segwit if you really wanted to, but why would you. No one I know is using BSV, but then I don't know everyone.

Most of the popularity he gained throughout the years was directly the result of all the bad publicity.... for this scammer bad publicity is good publicity.The only way for him to lose popularity is to have people stop talking about him.
