Lets just hope it doesn't tie up and go to penalties as we all know england cant beat anyone at penalties....  Even cricket style penalties against austrailia we'd lose.

England won this match by 8 wickets in less than three days.

It was one of the great days of England’s Ashes cricket. After loosing second test players lifted themselves up and staged a daring counterattack to win this match.

Yep, 2-1 in the Series now. The next test is vitally important though, an England win would mean they would win The Ashes 3-1 (with one more test to play). If Australia win the next test though the series will be tied 2-2 & all be set up for an exciting finale in the 5th test. I'm not predicting anything else in this series now, it keeps swinging both ways, seems impossible to confidently predict the outcome of anything Grin

South Africa tour of Bangladesh, 2nd Test: Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat

Bangladesh 246/8 in 88.1 overs.

Due to heavy rain the match has been called off for the day. That makes it two days in a row without a ball bowled. Going into the fourth day, the first innings is still going on.

I think this match will end in draw.

England 76/2 as I type this. They need 43 runs to win so the match will be won by England today unless it rains really badly or something Grin. The difference between the two sides in this test has been England's great bowling, neither side has batted that well. Correct me if I'm wrong but not one player has got a century in this 3rd test.

Surely England will win this match.

Australia all out for 265, setting England 121 to win

England are 4-0 at lunch, they will be looking to finish the game in the next session without losing too many wickets.

The Aussies finished day two at 7/168 in their second innings with a lead of just 23 runs. Australia started well in its second innings, moving to 1/62 before Steve Smith played an awful pull shot and fell to Steven Finn. It started a collapse of 5/30 as Finn ripped through the middle order.

I also think match will finish in third day itself

Update at close of play on day 3 - England are massively in the driving seat now, Australia have 3 wickets left at the end of their 2nd innings & only a small lead. England should bowl them all out by lunch tomorrow & bat to victory by the end of day 4. I didn't expect this, world class bowling by England has been the difference in this test.

Actually, it was end of day 2 today.

And England will defeat them tomorrow easily which is day 3 and it's an amazing performance by them and they will lead the series by 2-1 with 2 games remaining.

Play is about to start in the next 15-20 minutes. England need to start well, ideally Root & Bairstow need to build up a partnership, maybe another 100 runs between them another wicket is taken.

They've got a real opportunity to push on here & create a decent lead. What England don't want is to lose 2-3 wickets quickly because the tail comes in then & they might not get a significant lead over Australia which is certainly possible atm. Never, ever rule an Australian team out though.

Australia are bowled out for 136 in first innings

England 133/3 - in first innings - Just an over after Bell's departure, play was stopped due to rain. If there is no rain disturbances then England got a good chance of winning this match or else it will be a draw match.

England has a score to settle and I think their head is far more in the game then Australia.  My gut is going with England and I usually go with what my gut tells me.  Australia corrected their course after a humiliating loss but I think that pendulum is ready to swing the other way now.

OMG I just checked the score, Australia are 110/8. What the hell has been going on? I look like a right idiot for my earlier predictions. Surely England can't mess this one up now, surely?

It appears Australia have lost 3 wickets for 38 runs. Rain has now stopped play though, bet England just want to get back out there with Australia playing like this. Maybe I was wrong & there is life in England yet Wink
They need the weather to improve though, Australia are wasting precious time.

Match going to begin in around 30 minutes.

Can England bounce back from Lord's?

Australians are truly the best cricketing team in the world right now. After the humiliating loss in the first test they came back in the 2nd test at Lords stronger than ever.

So the 3rd test in Birmingham is going to be the most important match of the series, whoever wins the test will take a lead in the series.

Not in my opinion no. I think Australia will begin to dominate this series. Aside from a 4-5 year spell Australia have destroyed England in every Ashes series for the last 10-15 years. I expect them to win this series 4-1 weather permitting. England's batsmen are mediocre. Australia can bat for 2 full days.
