Not sure about boundaries but it's true that these days they make dead flat pitches so that we can see high scoring matches and seems like this WC will not be a different.

By the way, we have a WC prediction pool. It's free to join however you can chose to contribute if you want which is totally up to you. If you are interested to join us and want to have fun with us then feel free to join the pool.
The boundaries are short buddy than we had in the past, if Viv Richards had these small boundaries i cannot imagine how he could kill every bowler out of the park, just take a look the matches post 2000 every miss hit is going over the boundary rope, earlier there is no way they could get away as it will land in the fielders hand.
Sure buddy i will be joining your prediction pool and glad to see many people in the cricket thread now a days.

I don't think commercialization is a bad thing for a sports.
India is the largest market for cricket. IPL has increased the earning of a player by ten folds. If sports is an entertainment, they should deliver what the crowd wants. BCCI devises laws that would increase the number of viewers and advertisers.
Cricket is no longer a gentlemen game. They are just entertainers doing their job.
If you think high scoring games are important rather than having a battle between bowlers and batsmen then your version is right, there was a time when i used to watch cricket as a battle between quality players and only quality players could perform consistently but now a days every rules favor batsman and i am sure the players who average 50 now will not average above 35 in the past and so is the reason i hate comparing players in different generation.

BCCI have been historically a money-minded organization which cared very little for the overall well being of the game of cricket. The BCCI, for most of the time was being headed by businessmen such as N Srinivasan or politicians such as Sharad Pawar, who never cared about cricket. The same happened to ICC, when these BCCI guys captured power in that organization.

India basically changed the concept of cricket everywhere, earlier it was hard to see these high scoring matches outside the sub continent,
~Edited~
India?? Bro, how come India Changed the concept of cricket-more precisely ODI?
They commercialized the entire game of cricket and hope you know why BCCI have a voice on everything when it comes to decision making in cricket and even ICC would listen to them, because BCCI is super rich and could dictate things and India has the most loyal fan base and where ever India is playing they could fill the stadium with ease and the broadcasters are ready to pay huge sum of amount, in short the concept of competitive cricket, which means the battle between bat and ball is gone and if you look now the boundaries are shorter now, pitches are flat and every rules favor batsmen.

Yes, Contracts are based on grades. but I was talking about over all fame-financial thingy, like fast bowlers put lots of efforts and they don't get much reward as compared to batsmen. considering the fact that Fast bowler career is very short.

Fast-bowling may be energy consuming. But then, nowadays most of the fast bowlers have a very short run-up. Gone are the days when bowlers such as Shoiab Akhtar and Brett Lee used to charge in from 50 yards. Now most of the bowlers have run-up length of anywhere from 15 to 25 yards... look at pacers like Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, and it is obvious. Also, the pay grades should be in sync with the revenues they bring. If I am not wrong, the batsmen have more fans (in general) when compared to the bowlers.

This is true that fast bowlers run are no more like Brett lee or some body like him who used to run a lot to deliver a ball. Yes but credit cannot be taken from the batsman who runs a lot even to take single or even if ball is going to boundary. They also have higher chances of injury as ball can hit them if they miss it.

There is reason Bowlers (Fast bowlers) are considered as a low paid labourer in Cricket. all glory belongs to Batsmen and hard work for fast Bowlers.

I think they get paid based on the performance. There are some grades and different grade has different pay scale if I am not wrong. Like grade for Dhoni, Kohli, Bumrah must be better than Pant and few other Pant category players?

It seems like English team almost white-washed Pakistan in this ODI series (used the word almost as one of the matches was abandoned due to bad weather). However, I'm sure that both the teams, English and Pakistani, must have got prepared for the big world cup after this series. This was a very nice warm-up for both!

Pakistan looks like they are in very bad shape. I won't be very surprised if they end up losing to teams such as Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Their performance against England was below par, and I never expected them to perform this badly. I hope that the thrashings that they receive will serve as a wake up call before the world cup.

In my opinion I can't see Pakistan making it out of the group stage with the way the team is currently performing. A lot will need to change if they are any chance at getting out of the group stage. I believe that Bangladesh is one team that can make it out of the group stage and even upset some of the top teams.

Agreed on everything else.

Looking at the pitches in England I can tell you that this will be a good option for bowling team. Why you spend extra money to bowlers when you leave nothing for them in the pitch. :-P

Good warm up or nice beating for bowlers from both team? it should send msz to all bowlers around the world that this World cup edition is not going to be easy for them. if this kind of competition becoming normal then in next 10-20 years bowlers will be replaced by bowling machine Cheesy

I doubt that Pakistan got any answers from this series. Pakistan bowling is their main weapon and we saw toothless attack so far. having said that, this can be blessing in disguise for Pakistan due to low expectation and we all know the Pak team is very unpredictable and they can upset any team in their day.
I am sure Pakistan will be looking forward to a way to gain some confidence. This series did not give them anything. In fact this new bowler Hasnain (I hope I got the spelling correct) got a bad experience although he picked few wickets.

For England .... no words! I am just wishing to get them over-confident lol so that they can mistake in World Cup.
India basically changed the concept of cricket everywhere, earlier it was hard to see these high scoring matches outside the sub continent, but now every pitch are dead ones and bowlers are not getting any aide from the pitch nor the rules are favoring them, earlier there was a contest between batsmen and the bowler, now bowlers are at the mercy of the batsmen, they can get the wicket only if they make any mistake and nothing else, the level of play has gone down.

Pakistan just lost their 2nd wicket (review has taken). They are chasing 351 runs. In England innings Tom Current did very good job at the end to get 351 for England.

EDIT:
Confirmed. Pakistan lost their 2nd wicket.

Ireland and England both the team win easily. After 3 consecutive matches, Pakistan score below 340, Pakistan is the only country who lost 3 matches at a row even after scroing 340+
The win of Ireland was unexpected. Batting first they were able to score only 210 runs but surprisingly they stopped Afghanistan resulting a low scoring match.

By the way, have you joined the WC prediction pool yet?

Edit:
Just checked and you have not yet :-)

Rainfall is quite high to the western (Ireland) and northern (Scotland) parts of the British Isles, and that's why they have rain almost every day there. Things should be better in England and Wales. I checked the forecast for last week of May and June, and everything seems to be fine. The matches may not get abandoned, but at least during the initial phase you might see a reduction in the number of overs.
I hope we won't see many match washed away for rain in the world cup.

By the way, there are two ODI match today is in progress.

Pakistan vs England and Ireland vs Afghanistan

Pakistan just lost their 2nd wicket (review has taken). They are chasing 351 runs. In England innings Tom Current did very good job at the end to get 351 for England.

In the other match, Afghanistan lost their 2nd wicket. They are chasing 210 runs. They should win it easily.
