New Zealand are fighting back strongly in this test match, they bowled well to keep Pakistan under 250 runs. If New Zealand bat well and get a 250+ run lead then that gives them a high chance of winning this test match. Day 3 is a vital day for both teams to see which team can get the upper hand.

250+ run lead? IMO, even a 175+ run lead should be able to make New Zealand the winner. Pakistani batting usually collapses in the last inning and anything above 175 runs will look like a big total for them.

Overall, at this point, Pakistan looks in trouble to me.

Pakistan could not capitalize by bowling so well and getting NZ all out at 153 but their batting collapsed and just got a lead of 74 and now NZ trail by 18 runs and 9 wickets in hand. Even if NZ has 200 - 250 on board it will be difficult for Pakistan to chase in fourth innings.

@Raja_MBZ Don't rule em out just yet. One good session from Yasir could turn the game their way, but yeah anything above 200 will require some chasing to do. Especially when the ball is turning. That's why I said it will be a thriller. But If you ask me, Pakistan made a mistake for not playing Fakhar, Someone like him could have helped their cause. Especially in the situation, they are in now. I will never be able to understand what goes on in Pakistan's Selectors mind. They surprise me...

Australia were once again no match for SA in the one off T20 match, Australia bowled well to restrict SA to just 108 runs but Australia couldn't even get close being bowled out for 87 runs. Now Australia's main focus is on the upcoming test match series against India.

In women world cup, today we have India vs OZ women match happening and India won the toss and elected to bat. Mithali Raj and Mansi has being rested for today match. This is very big decision as Mithali has being in superb form. Will need to see how this team can play against such a strong OZ side.

This will be a thriller... New Zealand is only 18 runs behind and they are just 1 wicket down. If New Zealand can take the target towards 250-ish mark it will be a good total to defend on day 4 and day 5 pitch. 250 alone can be a winning a score iyam. They didn't allow Pakistan to get away. I believe if they bat out the first season tomorrow, They will easily get a lead of 250. Tomorrow's Morning season will decide the fate of this match.

Pakistan are really making the UAE a very hard place for touring teams to win as they won against Australia not long ago and now they are also dominating New Zealand which has a very good test team. That was a great bowling performance by Pakistan and they deserve to take the first day honours, lets see if they can now make a big total and at least get a 200+ run lead which I think will be very tough for New Zealand. This test match could end in 3 days depending on how well Pakistan bat tomorrow.

I'll agree Pakistan have made UAE like a strong fortress, each visiting team has struggled there and lot of credit goes to their bowlers for neutralising the opposite side batting line up. While so far Pakistan has been the dominant team, let's not forget their batting department has been poor, and I wouldn't be surprised if it starts to crumble again. I feel Pakistan needs to made at least 300 - 350 runs on board to put pressure on the kiwis, anything less than that will give Kiwis a chance to bounce back.
Today Boult and Grandhomme done very good job for New Zealand and restrict Pakistan for 227 which is not good enough as they are short of nearly 100 runs as I post already if they controlled this unpredictable batting then this test could be very interesting and they done lets see how New Zealand's battling lineup done in second inning because they need some patience if they tough 275 to 300 this could be two way race as in fourth inning doing our 200 never been easy for any team.

New Zealand is really struggling, in both the departments. The absence of Brendon McCullum is being felt. And it doesn't help that Ross Taylor is not in the best of form right now (when was the last time that he scored a century?).

Yeah, Good bowling from Pakistan. I mean dismantling New Zealand on day 1 isn't bad. They should try to bat the next 2 days out. Try to get to 350-400 on the board and bury new zealand from there. This will give them ample time to bowl New Zealand out.

NZ all out at 153 is unbelievable and what a bowling by Pakistan to get all the top batsman form the team with such a low score. Pakistan needs to take at least 200 lead so that they can win this match easily if they can repeat the same performance in NZ second innings as well.

The first test match of the series between Pakistan and New Zealand will begin today in Abu Dhabi. IMO, the Pakistani team selectors made a good decision by dropping Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Amir (once again) for the series.

Shaheen Shah Afridi will probably be playing his first ever international test match tomorrow; let's see if his magic comes into action again.

NZ won the toss and elected to bat . NZ are 111/4 and Williamson was playing a captain's innings and batting at 57. First 2 wickets fell off quickly and NZ were 35/2 and just now 4th wicket has fallen. Pakistan is coming back strongly in this match and they would like to wrap up NZ below 250 so that they have advantage right in the first innings.

New Zealand all out very cheaply score on board just 153 all bowlers done good job now Pakistani batsmen on but not good start as both openers back with just 27 runs this is going to be good and interesting match as we can say these Kiwis can done good job against Pakistan's unpredictable battling line up.

@vella85 Yeah I still remember his knock against Eng (2014) when he single-handedly won the match for Aus, when they were 9 down. I doubt that will see any young player getting test cap in upcoming series (specially fast bowler) that's a reason, a good number of players back into the shield squads before a test series. ( here I am hoping that Indian Test squad will play 1-2 warm-up match too before test series)

Aus struggling with their batting ( bowling not much) let's hope that we can see some fine innings from Khwaja and Marsh in a test match. if Khwaja is fit and ready to play then he can produce good runs for Aussie camp. Any new batsman's name popping in your mind? Finch can only play in top order but I have my doubt that he can effectively face Bumrah/ Shami in red ball cricket be it New or old ball. Mitchell Marsh is good but he's struggling in Red ball cricket with both bat and bowl.

There is one player that has a chance of coming into the Australian team for the test series against India and that is Matthew Renshaw who is the forgotten Australian opening batsman. I still think Finch needs to prove himself as a test player so its going to be interesting to see what team the Australian board select for the first test match. I think the bowling line up is okay to take on India on home soil its just the batting line up that could see some changes. We will know more once a few more Shield games are complete. Yes I agree that India should at least have a couple warm up matches in Australia which I think they will like the last tour of Australia.

Okay so if Matthew Renshaw manages to get in the Test squad then that's means finch is out? Because i don't see him playing in middle order because it doesn't suit his gameplay. Tbh both teams struggling with their batting combination right now but for entirely different reasons.

According to me, Aus's bench strength doesn't look very strong atm and not to mention haunting memories of Sandpaper gate. On another hand, Indian bench strength is good, but still, we are struggling to find right batting combination in Test. In our top order, Murli Vijay and KL Rahul both struggling with their form. Prithvi Shaw is a new but very promising talent ( i am excited to see Prithvi Shaw and Rishab Pant). Ajinkya Rahane is not performing as well despite being a solid Batsman.

I think the Indian team will ask for at least one practice match because right now Ind A is playing 3 test series with NZ A in New Zealand.

Just checked South African's schedule and surprisingly they even played a practice match before ODI and T-20. And there is no mention of any practice match in Indian team's schedule right now. Roll Eyes

Faulkner was one of the best all-rounders in the world when he was at his peak fitness, then injuries have set him back and since then he has never been able to get back into the Australian team. Maybe they feel they can't trust his body anymore, I'm not really sure why they don't consider him. I really think its time to inject some more young talent which we could see happen in the upcoming test series against India.

Faulkner is just 28 years old. There is a lot of international cricket left in him. Recently he had a few good games for Lancashire in the English county cricket championships. But I don't know whether he is 100% fit or not.
The Faulkner is going 100% of Fight to opposite team with all rounder performance in batting, bowling and fielding but I also do not know about is fitness status, I think he will be back with his strong preference in coming matches if he is available.

SL got a 46 run lead against the England in first inning of 2nd test match between SL and England. ARS Silva played a very vital inning to make 85 and helped SL to take the lead. At one point it was the situation where they could not reach the England total. But lower order did contribute form the bat to help the SL take precious lead.
