When it comes to Dogecoin i think those celebrities do more harm than good for crypto. We saw what happened 2 months ago with useless dog tokens which almost ended up with crypto winter.
On the other side, clubs starting their own fan tokens is a big plus and a healthy promotion, especially when its associated to global mega stars like Messi. There are a lot of people, who will trusts celebrities more than politicians.

I support the spread of blockchain applications in all areas of life. However, in reality, not many projects are exploiting this field.
Although sports stars are becoming more and more interested in crypto right now, to me they are just KOLs and lack knowledge of this market. So positive crypto spillover, but don't let these leaders mislead you.

A network effect will play its parts, I believe. It's surely in terms of awareness public/sports figures will give an exposure to the masses about cryptocurrencies in general. I do iterate that I always saying about the network effect toward this space from a public figure, it because I believe it surely has an effect. What more to come to emphasize is how the adoptions also bring the masses to aware about the financial sovereignty, not just following what's trending in the world.

In short, I do hope the adoptions come with the curiosity about what is possible in terms of sovereignty. Therefore, the decentralization essence of cryptocurrencies is still preserved.

A number of sports stars were also interested in Crypto lately, such as Tennis Star Naomi Osaka openly interested in Dogecoin. The famous soccer player, Lionel Messi also received a part of his salary in the form of Crypto, namely the PSG Fansclub token. Previously, the NFL star Russel Okung also chose to receive half his salary at Bitcoin.

What do you think ?
If those sports stars can bring positive things to crypto, they can invite their fan to follow their way to start investing in crypto.
They can start learning about crypto together and educate each other, boosting crypto adoption in many countries as their fan will come from many countries.
If many more sports stars can follow the same thing, it will give more time for a crypto to reach more people and maybe that will not take too long to see the crypto will be more popular.

Something like this news.
Owner Of NBA’s Kings To Offer To Pay Players In Bitcoin
It's not new but somehow I like it more when they are using Bitcoin instead of Dogecoin. It's just the hype made by EM and I don't think it should be trustworthy enough with a volatile market.
Bitcoin on the other hand does have a higher trust rating and there is no one at the helm to control it.
Sure there will always be manipulation for there will be rich people who will use their resources to gain the upper hand but they should still be wary about giving it up for chances of a sudden spike could come making them lose more than profits.
Yes, this isn't new.

But we might see this to happen most often very soon when most of the athletes in different are going to be offered their salary with a portion of cryptocurrency.

And even be asked if they're good for whole contract paid in full crypto.

I see this huge popularity around crypto, so there is nothing surprising that celebrities get involved in it as well. I know many examples how different sportsmen, singers and actors use NFTs to tokenize some of their achievements and then see them. So it is a new a space for creative people. And it shows us once again that crypto really worth attention.

At least they have been giving free advertisement to the crypto. i don't care anymore if that was getting paid to promote or something else. i just think if crypto must need to attract more and more people with big names. These people can easily spread the words of crypto to the all of their fans. The only problem the new joines must have dealt with the volatility. As long as that was a good thing and that's not a problem at all.
There must be more and more club to adopt crypto as a way to give an alternative payment system or become a bridge for its fan to bought something from the club like jersey or ticket.
This will be giving a lot of benefits for us. We need to show crypto to the more audience to attract them all to adopt cryptocurrency

There’s a two scenario here, first they are being paid to make such statements and second they are really interested to invest or they own already, we really don’t know but one thing is for sure the adoption is growing and sooner or later many companies will start to adopt as well not just the celebrities.

Though, I still don’t see this one as my basis on buying crypto because they are not that big to move this market its better if we hear bigger companies to adopt, the market will pump for sure.

Then that's good.

They have the influence and they will educate people to know more about crypto. I just hope that they won't use their fame to shill unusual projects and likely to be a scam.

That's what happened a few years ago when famous people were used by scam projects.

There are a lot of sport personalities into crypto as of late, maybe because of the hype. I still remember Bucks Giannis, when someone ask him where he get his money, he said, "Bitcoin".

I think it's good though, nothing wrong with them getting their salary on crypto or investing some part of their money on it. For sure they have realised that crypto is the best investment, although there are big risk, but it's a win-win situation for them. Maybe in the next 5 years we will see majority of athletes asking their salary to be paid in crypto.

Since Bitcoin and Dogecoin don't have a central authority or are being handled by a group of individuals or acting as a business, we can fairly say that there's no such thing as they are doing some hype on that certain coin.

Not familiar with the sports stars you have mentioned but if they are promoting a crypto-company, then we can look at the reason why they are into crypto.

But generally, it's not even surprising that a famous individual will use crypto. It's common already nowadays that there are people on that status lurking in crypto.

Just like any other individual, those sports stars wanted to invest their money, they have some extra cash to begin with so why not crypto?

The thing is that it sounds like they are shilling for it, if I'm in their shoes, I will just be quiet and not let the public know that I'm into crypto. Much better that way so that they won't see you as someone shilling or promoting for a certain coin because it could have a bad effect on their reputation or image.

This adoption was a common thing. Adoption of crypto by celebrities and sport clubs didn't give massive impact to te crypto. As predicted by so many people if this gonna be a short term adoption for sure.
There are lots of people have been talking about this in the past but with the goes of time they were starting to talk back about NFT and DEFI. People realized that the beneift of sport club adoption didn't so big as they have predicted before. It's only for its club and it didn't give advantage for the ecosystem around crypto. When the hype will end and this adoption will be gone.

From these sports figures, the one with Messi is that I don't openly support. They are trying to sell you this token, and what better way to advertise it than to have one of your star players receive it as a 'salary'? The rest of the athletes that you mentioned are genuinely interested and are already getting their feet wet in buying and receiving actual cryptocurrencies, and that's great since the more people adopt cryptocurrencies, the closer we are into getting society adopt it as well. An economy run by crypto, that seems to be nice.

I will support the comments above. This is all done only for personal benefit and only for the media to talk about them. I am sure that they are not interested in the crypto industry, but only need profit for themselves. There will be many more such statements from the stars, they are more designed for people not related to cryptocurrencies.

Rather than players we can see more and more number of league organizers interested on receiving sponsorship. Last Sunday watched an UHC match in which it is possible to see Stake and Draft Kings advertisement. Even on the television the odds for the game was broadcasted. This way there is more connectivity with sports platform and gambling sites than cryptocurrency and sports stars.

i like the idea that celebrities and top super stars are embracing crypto. since government and traditional financial bodies are against crypto.the more these forces embrace crypto, the more people get to know more about it. the more publicity. the more crypto adoption increases. the more other people considers it and gives it a trial. recently, snoop dog a music legend declared his interest in NFT and a proud owner of an NFT platform. i think it is not too late.

Their fame is getting used by the big whales to promote the projects so that they can dump when market starts to become bullish. By the way sports persons are also humans so there is no surprise at all even if they genuinely started to invest on cryptos.
