We have continued with good meetings in the taskforce, also called Town Council. Things are falling into places. XMR started a sudden rise only minutes after my announcement that it would, and has shown remarkable resilience staying much higher than where we started, and given me some work.

We are proud to announce that the negotiations concerning the addition of CKG to a major crypto exchange have been successful, and trading will commence when the new version is released. CKG Announcement thread. To corner enough supply, just buy the gold as you have done so far. Prior to the trading commences in the major crypto exchange in the faraway land, you will have a chance to transfer all or part of your gold from the game to the trading system there, and later after successful speculation, repatriate it to the game.

Clothes

The reason we need clothes is that we can have a fancy background color in the trollbox. The trollbox will start operating only in 1600 in the Economy era, and there has not been any production of clothes for almost 100 years. All existing clothes will be converted to Most Ancient items, which may possibly be worn in some later version of the game.

The Prince of North Face has served the King faithfully over decades, and shown remarkable scientific progress. The Prince has found (upon spending of enough SCI points) indigenous methods for production of certain dyes that used to be very expensive and could only be imported. In the Economy era, the Prince will have an edge in fine clothes production.

The Economy era clothes are a major cost item and do not last long (well, several years, that's what they last - a year is 12 real-days)

Luxury level producing Ancient Items

All Ancient buildings that have 40% or higher Luxury rating, will yield an Ancient Item Credit (AIC) as follows:

year = building_year; credit_amount = sqm*(lux-30%)

We do not have Items management just yet, nor in 2 months. The Items will be implemented from the credit later, so that more expensive items during the conversion will be naturally more scarce, and likely command a higher value in the aftermarket as well.

Other Ways to Gain AIC

If you thought Culture was useless, think again. You will get AIC from all the Culture you have accumulated. It is still not too late to get some Smiley Culture points are given for writing in the thread, chatting in the IRC and inviting and helping new players, for instance. Or by having Special institutions.

Every character will get a small amount of personal AIC based on the year they came to the town, and based on every subsequent promotion.

The Town gave CUL dividends some years ago. How nice! Smiley They went in the proportion of gold owned, since gold is the share of the Town. Another round is coming most likely, so one more reason to load up on gold.

Lots - Buildings - Rooms

Be it announced that we will not have the buildings implemented to the Room detail level in the DB yet. Administering that manually is too much work. A building can be divided to separate parts that may have different lux%, desire%, repair% etc. It is unlikely that renting is enabled yet, because it would require Room-level implementation.

New building projects

There will not be a new Building Cost Calculator for the remaining Ancient era. The update costs are more than the benefits. Instead, the old one is used with the following modifications:
- Both Labor and Services go to Special Services Pool.
- the Imports-Windows(3 cells) go to the Town as default. You have to note how much this sum is and manually transfer it from Town to RWWC.
- the Labor Cost is set to 100% for all projects and it cannot go lower, and may go higher only in extraordinary circumstances. The buildings are ridiculously cheap right now as they are Ancient, unaffected by the Earthquake, their lux stakes items, etc. (It is possible that the next revision of the Cost Calc is adjusted upwards.)

All building projects must be submitted to BI latest 1598. All buildings that require Architect design must be submitted by 1595, which is only 5 days away. Contact Roopatra.

Farewell, my loving people.

The final ancient years: 1587

I am 221 years old, my reign is 187 years, and the town was founded 157 years ago. Does not feel like that old, but the records kept in the Royal Palace and in the Town Registry in the Town Hall Annex are uninfringeable.

Great changes are coming, which were prophesied by the very ancient wise men, and are written in the scrolls (see OP for details). I start this series of frequent updates in the thread, which will continue as long as the thread is used. That will not be for very long any more.

We have strengthened the Town Council with SirJacket and MarquessRiccardo to be a task force for the transition to the new game platform. The time for developing it, long as it has been, has been used to implement capabilities and functionalities far in excess of the original specification for the first playable version. What we are now doing, is transitioning directly to Economy, both in scope and in the platform. This was always scheduled to happen at the close of the Ancient era, which means we are on schedule.

For internal use of the task force, we have a project flowchart currently consisting of 10 items.
Releases
Buildings
DB structure
DB contents
CKG listing
Marketing Outreach
Marketing to ancients
Organization / finances
Gameplay
Admins/tutorial

Each item is mapped for its contents and the relations are easily shown. We will tackle the challenges with the existing professionals, and contract new resources if necessary. I will bring some things to your attention:

Releases. We expect that the next release is Version 4: Online , which will be available for play after i) the ancient era has ended + ii) the data has been ported. The critical path goes through me currently, as I will need to make the scoping of the version while still having a lot to do with the administration of this one. This may pose a delay but it should not be long, considering that I made the game initially in 10 days.

Buildings. The time now is very good for building. If you have any plans for ancient buildings, no matter how vague, they can be built. We will soon tell a deadline after which no new architecture commissions are taken anymore.

CKG listing. In our opinion, it benefits our new game and marketing reach greatly, if gold CKG can be listed in some exchange that already trades with crypto, preferably XMR, and has an existing customer base that can venture to this asset easily. Such negotiations are ongoing. Gold has recently made a new all-time-high (in XMR terms, in BTC and USD it's still way behind) and HM coinshop is diligently operating to buy/sell 3,000 gold at a time, and adjust the price afterwards for the next lot.

Gameplay. We expect to not make big changes to the googleDB game anymore. Everything that can be done now, will be useful in the future, even if there is no instant gratification.

Promotions.

My heart melts when seeing all the brave nobles and aspiring commoners listed in the Char DB. Until now, the difference between being an Earl or Marquess, for example, has mainly been that of status. When we get the Online running and Countryside is implemented, the difference will suddenly become much greater. The fiefs that will be given to the nobles, free of charge, from where they can press tax income in the form of essential food resources, will scale exponentially with the player level. Whereas a Baron is not entitled to a fief at all, the fief of an Earl is 1 unit, and that of a Duke is about 15 units.

We still have a NPC promotion round left, and I strongly suggest to contract an Army now in hopes of some promotions there, which ensure that there is enough tax-collecting capacity. Even peasants are not scared of rookies (the rookies are peasants with an ill-fitting uniform).

I would like to give a whole lot of promotions at the close of the age, but the rules must be followed. In short, if you believe you are next in line for a promotion, check the following:
- Have I played the game actively, trolled in the chat, helped new players, brought in new ones?
- Have I donated to important causes such as the University, Army, Church and Monero House?
- Have I constructed public utility buildings, or Science / Culture buildings?
- What is my Culture rating, relative to others seeking a promotion? (Culture is the one single thing that collects all of the above things)

Brute forcing (buying a heckload of everything) does raise the level, but I don't want to assign stingy people to rule over the peasants. Every Marquess or above is known of their good works, I know them even if you don't.

The St. Peter Church

Speaking of good works, HG The Bishop has been totally consummated with out-game activities related to XMR, so I will have to help him in the fundraising. Simply put, a 24-q lot is donated by the Town at the centre of the 5th Borough. If you didn't know, the place is geographically closer to the Old Town than anything. A really massive church is being built, for which a certain amount of money and stone is needed.

In the old days, the lots at 2-C sold out instantly at 50/q, so the land the town gave is worth 1,200 mil easily. We don't have even a tentative calculation of the costs of the building, but University is same size and cost 2,000 mil.

As the King, I am also a great supporter of the true Christian faith and have promised to match 50% to every donation. It would be a true landmark to have it built during the ancient era, for which I count on your support. Sorry for brevity, the other 9 items in the Online transition project flowchart press me  Cheesy

Farewell, my loving people.

The town would like to welcome a new visitor to the Crypto-Kingdom - bytemuma.

He has arrived and is weary from his travels, but will soon be taking up residence in the house located at 2-W-L5 once he has settled and his moneritos arrive.

Thank you for the welcome. Smiley

One of the novel concepts of Crypto Kingdom is gold. Admittedly, every virtual world game has gold, but Crypto Kingdom gold is very special.

- Only a limited, rule-bound quantity of 1,000,000 gold exists, and even that number will only soon be fully mined. Once it is reached, new gold will be generated only very slowly, $0.025 worth per hour of playtime, to all players on equal terms. Unless the game hits thousands of players, the amount of new gold generated is insignificant. (If it does, the existing gold will nevertheless be very valuable, as you will soon see ->)

- The ingame currency is not gold, we use monereto instead (1,000,000 m = 1 XMR). Gold is rather a store of wealth, currently accounting for 50%+ of all the wealth in the game. What makes gold valuable...

- ... is not only the fact that there is a strictly limited amount of it, but also the fact that it is income-generating. Owning gold earns you money. This is possible because...

- ... actually gold is a share. A limited-liability share of the Town, even of the whole game, even of the whole gaming company. Indeed, there exists no external company that is developing the game and requires profits from it. The game is governed in-game, by the town council, and the town council is selected by the owners of gold, and all profits that the Town = the game = the (nonexisting) "company" makes, are distributed back to the game, to the players, in proportion of the gold they own.

- Of course it can be used ingame for decorative purposes etc., but even then, it still carries the full voting and staking rights, and is indestructible in applications.

- So when you evaluate how gold has been doing over the time the game has been played, please remember also that the typical weekly dividend has been about 1-1.5% on the market price, and that until recently, gold also had an additional dividend of stone. Gold bought in the very beginning staked up to 1,000 stone, and if all of it were sold at the going price upon staking, an additional dividend stream of 150,000 m per gold was obtainable. That alone has earned back most of the price paid.

The industrious people in Crypto Kingdom have built wonderful structures from the stone that originally was brought to the town by the peasants as "gold staking". Later it was bought from the peasants for money, which they in turn squandered in the nascent town's services establishments. Starting from the 1520s, the most daring industrialists among the players, have engaged in quarrying the stone.

In addition to stone, the building requires a plan, a graphic representation of the room arrangements, and the facade. Also, a sum of money goes to the laborers, depending on the detail involved. Finally, until very recently, all windows have needed to be imported, as well as a part of the Luxuries that make the building special, adding to the monetary cost.

The total cost of construction is a function of all the design decisions, and it may be as low as 200,000 moneretos per sqm, but in the most magnificent buildings even a million is not enough. Therefore, the cheapest single family homes are for sale for 25 million including land, while the landmark buildings carry a price tag of up to 2,000 million (not including land), and are not for sale.

The cornerstone of the Town was laid in 1430, only 15 days after the idea of the game was first conceived. The initial building project was the Old City Walls, framing the area now known as the Old Town Centre and King's Park. These are still the most prestigious and most expensive chapelries in the town, with hardly any land for sale at any price. The second project was the Obelisk, which was later gilded with gold donated by the people. The Obelisk and the Royal Palace are the only two Most Esteemed buildings in existence.

Later on, the pace of building has only increased, so that at present, 84,174 sqm of floor area is serving the various needs of the 88 PC/corporate characters and the 1,599 NPC servants and workers employed by them.

Most of this glory has not yet been visible to anyone except the architects of these beautiful buildings. But it will change soon as the Online game will be released.

In total, 40,406 million moneretos (40,406 XMR) has been expended in the construction of these buildings. It is estimated that designing them has taken 640 hours of virtual architect labor.

The chart shows the increase of the land area over time. 1430 = 2014-10-25.

Crypto Kingdom goes startup

CryptoKingdom the game is now on the cusp of its most important and crucial time. The final touches to the Online version are being made, and also the year 1600 is soon approaching, with its changes to the gameplay. The environment has been challenging, and the very latest times have shown a clear decline in the game activity. It seems that most everyone is waiting for the changes to happen.

Let me tell you: The changes do not happen without our active participation. This has been a new type of game development process with its ingame crowdfunding and organic feature development. That must continue, but in addition, now we need some determined and goal-oriented action to complete the transition. In other words: work

Work is no play, and therefore the royal gold vault as well as the Town development fund of 15,000 XMR are now opened to contract deals related to design, development, data conversion, tutorial writing, bugtesting, etc. If you are eager to see our game blossom, and have time and some skill in your hands, now is an unprecedented opportunity to actually profit. Contact me Smiley

I am proud to present to you the following information:

Marquess Riccardo has been appointed to General Project Manager ("CEO" of the "game company" - we don't have a company though). I will continue to be the Lead Designer, the Gamemaster (lead admin), the King and Mayor. The change will release some of my time for these duties, and provide a better integration of the google game with the online game. The Marquess is already in charge of the online version technical development. The Marquess has been appointed Councillor.

Dame Roopatra has been appointed to General Administrator. Her new responsibilities include working as my right-hand woman in all the matters related to the administration of the economic/DB side of the game. She may have time to do her previous duties of BI & Architect as well, but it's likely that she will have to raise the prices. The Countess is promoted AOK-C and gifted a mahogany staff overlaid with 500 gold.

Prince Jacket has been promoted AOK-S, and gifted the chain and bracelet weighing 250 gold. The Prince has been appointed Councillor.

We are looking for a Marketing Coordinator, an approximately half-time job for planning and executing the marketing strategy. We are considering both existing players and professionals in the field. Contact Marquess Riccardo (fluffypony).

We have a tentative understanding concerning the next steps with the game. We are putting on hold some of the economy side developments. We are reverting to the original schema of 1 Ancients - first online version, 2 Sandbox - more playable stuff in the online, 3 Economy - all the stuff we now have in the google version, by focusing on the 1/2 for mass appeal, and implement 3 when the playercount is already on the rise. Instead of a sandbox relying on players to develop content, we will jumpstart using our API to add tipbots and dicegames by ourselves.

The Ancient era will be played to its conclusion with the current players, and we are ready to take more Ancient ones to the google version. This is a prime time to jump in and get a character with esteemed capabilities, and/or buy the game assets (gold, land etc.) at their current low prices. This way you not only help yourself, but also the game, to manage the additional spending. I am not ashamed to call it an investment if you can buy 1% of the gold for $500 or a whole chapelry of land in the 1st perimeter from the old town for $200. If we are required to actually do fundraising, be assured that the valuation will be set to a higher level.

The price of building has gone down to about 1/3 of what it was when we started. Not much has been built lately, in the anticipation of solving the uncertainty concerning the online game, and the great earthquake that is set to destroy 50% of the value of the buildings in 1600. I am happy to announce that 1) the uncertainty is quickly fading away and that 2) the buildings constructed between 1583-1599 receive all the status of Ancient buildings, yet are immune to any calamities of that fateful year.

Both me and Roopatra and maybe others are back on duty to design any beautiful buildings that you still want erected during the final years of the Ancient era. The new building cost calculator should be online shortly.

Town Council meeting is on Thursday at the appointed time, new councillors welcome to decide on the actual stuff.

TL;DR: I am more enthusiastic than ever on what's happening in the game. Hope you will join us! Smiley

New to the town, Mooo looks right and left at the imposing structures peppering the landscape. Never had Mooo seen so many artificial structures been so clustered together in an attempt to wrest control of the land from Nature's capricious will.

Walking aimlessly past stone buildings and sturdy walls, Mooo eventually stopped near an imposing building and sit down at the insistance of his weary legs. He produced a set of of dice from his pocket and started to roll, while reflecting on the numerous wonders that had filled his view for the last few hours.

No updates?

CK was featured in Satoshi Roundtable, which was the event important enough that the "sun stood still for 7 years".

Since that, the time has started to move again Smiley

In 1600 (in about 3 weeks), a major rehaul is coming once again (the last one was in 1550, just a month ago). Currently we are coordinating it with the online version.

The duty to update concerning the advances in the technical development side is on fluffypony. I have not much to add to the "sneak peek on 1600", published in the thread a few weeks ago.

The most important change today is probably the soakbot, which they have been installing to the IRC channel.

Strange, yet attractive.
Upon coming back from the far foreign lands, from a trip that felt like it lasted for years, our royal carriage again hits the familiar cobbled streets.

Lo and behold! It is as if the time has not progressed at all here  Shocked  The words of Zenon, of our father the Duke, the very ancient writings, every letter of wisdom, come to our mind as we behold the sun. Then, slowly, the shadows start moving again.

We have to investigate the matter..

This must be related to the coming changes in 1600, that year when the time will readjust itself. We are still puzzled. Perhaps the Satoshi Roundtable had such a profound energy that time did not pass anywhere else??! Or maybe just here. Anyway, we hope it is over now.

Multiple years shall not pass at once, the game continues from where it is.
