You came to a bitcoin forum and posted in a bitcoin section asking what coin to buy? What answer do you expect to get? Buy dogecoin because this is the future - Musk says so! Cheesy
There are coins with a purpose and there are shitcoins with no purpose. For instance the purpose of dogecoin is being a joke and showing people that anything can be turned into a cryptocurrency, even an old meme that people aren't using anymore. The purpose of bitcoin is to give you a way to store money that other's can't take from you at an airport or a country's border. They cannot tax it and they cannot stop you from spending it. Bitcoin is what matters!

Investing in crypto is very risky, especially if you take out a loan and it will be more risky, you should study it well first and this forum is a very good place to learn and seek knowledge for you. And if you ask a question, there will be a lot of people who will tell you and also give you good advice.
and the best way to own crypto or bitcoin is to buy when you have extra cash or buy as you can afford, and buy gradually when the price drops and keep doing analysis, like current price and hold for long term. Forget and ignore everything you mentioned because there is no guarantee for you to be as successful as you hoped.

what coin should I buy and has anyone got any discord/telegram chats to join for these topics?
This forum can offer better credible information when compared to some telegram groups. Don't get me wrong, there are still some very good telegram groups to join, but the number of bad, deceitful and dubious ones seems to supercede the good ones these days. To you a newbie looking to buy a coin mostly your motive is to make profit quickly, some of these telegram groups can still tell you to buy bitcoins, but you should buy from them and expect good returns (this is dubious).

If you really want to invest, invest in Bitcoin with your eyes closed, and Bitcoin is now at Perfect Dip. This is the best time to invest long-term. The idea is to go further dip ahead but I don't think it would be right to be late. Now if you invest for long-term, you can easily make almost three times the profit. You don't have to worry about the security, so buy and hold Bitcoin. Best of luck

Settle in!
The forum is a good place to start getting answers to various questions that arise in the process of acquiring bitcoin.

Undoubtedly, but please for the collective sanity of the Bitcointalk cummunity — Google your question first before asking, or look around first for a similar topic question. The last thing we want is more redundant topics.

Learning does not end once you decide to have a crypto, on the contrary, learning is continuous, this community is a good place to learning, it is also also a reference to be able to get information about other communities, it may even be that you get one that corresponds to your country of origin, check the local boards and in general the entire forum.

Regarding Discord and Telegram groups, be very careful when joining those as they are plagued with scammers and shillers.

it's so I just opened up a coin base account (turned 18 a while ago) and I have been looking at the market Best Private Lenders for High Risk Personal Loans South Africa and shit is down bad, Has anyone got any advice on this? what coin should I buy and has anyone got any discord/telegram chats to join for these topics?
You are in perfect place and already many have replies that buy bitcoin. My suggestion will be also that if you are gonna invest in this situation of cryptocurrencies market then bitcoin is the best solution for you. You can invest in it without any worries it will  gives you the best security. And I also advised you that refrain from investing in alt-coin in this situation. At present it is very risky to invest in alt-coins. But investing in top alt-coins like BNB, Ethereum will not be bad. But in my opinion Bitcoin will be the best for investment.

Obviously Bitcoin. Buy when bitcoin is at a high, sell when the price plummets. In reality, this is easier said than done, even for experts.
As I personally didn't follow any discord/telegram chats but careful when you joining those groups due to nowadays, everywhere is scammers.

There are many threads in here that discuss the current bitcoin price as it was mentioned above. The main goal is simply to buy as cheap as possible and then never sell. If you can get enough coin sin the bear market you should be good. But still just constantly buy like for X amount per month till the price goes to your desired target.

Buy when everyone is selling and sell when everyone is buying.
You are in at a great time; to purchase cryptocurrencies at a cheaper rate compared to a couple of months ago. When the market is dipping, that's a good time to buy, and you don't necessarily have to sell once it goes up, or a least, do not liquidate your entire stash. Plan your profit margin, within medium to long term.

Has anyone got any advice on this? what coin should I buy
Bitcoin

any discord/telegram chats to join for these topics?
I do not have any, and you should be careful when joining communities that discuss what to buy or market conditions. Many of them are pump and dump groups.
There is the Wall Observed thread to discuss Bitcoin price movements here on the forum.

So.. you actually prefer buying assets that are up a lot already? If so, you might want to re-think this investing thing.

But yea — If you're asking us what to buy and what to do with your money, then you obviously don't know what you're doing.

if you know enough about things like mining and stuff or look at the 2 year market prices

simply look at the coins price and guage it on a score of where the prices had sat at in the last couple years
cheapest-expensive
EG
$15k            $70k
||||||||||||||||||||
and see where the price currently sits.
and then mark where the current price sits within that window

its a lil important to see what the cheapest mining are/were and where the 2 year LOW/high of market is and was to work out how much wiggle room is left at the low end compared to the price

EG bitcoin is at the low end
where as ethereum has alot of wiggle room to fall. (most efficient mining is lot cheaper than current price and going to get a HECK OF ALOT cheaper.. be warned)

if you are buying.. a price going down is not bad..
call it discount the lower it is the less you pay the more you get.
however dont get too obsessed with trying to wait for the ultimate bottom.
especially if prices are already in the good green region already

if you can work out that a coin has alot of wiggle room left where a recent LOW or mining cost is alot less then current price, meaning the price s in the orange zone. then yea wait it out you might get lucky.
and yea if its in the red zone like if a coin is in a current high/new ATH dont buy..
but if its in the green relax and be ok to buy in. knowing odds are in your favour, you just have to have patience

~ has anyone got any discord/telegram chats to join for these topics?
I'm not active there but you can try the (unofficial) bitcointalk discord https://discord.com/invite/ahgHyku Forget it. You're looking for groups that will suggest what to buy and I don't think they'll be discussing other coins there.

I remember joining channels created by some crypto 'expert/guru' back in 2017 and members discussed a lot of stuffs that's happening in the market. I left the chat after they started shilling and debating about certain coins/tokens. It's what has become of most crypto groups today and it's unproductive to stay there.

Well, since you are in bitcoin forum, then most probably people including me will recommend you to buy bitcoin.

Because one, most of the altcoins have become shittier in the long run, and some of them are always on the brink of collapse when the market crashes leaving bitcoin the safest coin to invest especially for newbies alike.

I can go on but I think you get my point.

With regards to communities, this forum alone is enough.

Buy Bitcoin and ignore everything else, as simple as that. And after you buy Bitcoin, don't keep it on Coinbase but instead send it to your own non-custodial wallet like Electrum or if you can afford it, get hardware wallet which is even safer way to store your crypto.
Regarding Discord and Telegram groups, be very careful when joining those as they are plagued with scammers and shillers.
