58x58 is a much more attractive size, in my personal opinion. These quilts all looks extremely "crisp", as you put it. I may have asked my question in the incorrect thread, because it was in one of your auction threads rather than this discussion thread (which I forgot was still being maintained). Anyways, I'm wondering if there is any possibility for extremely small versions of the Cryptocurrency quilts? Something like 8" x 10", 5" x 7" or 11" x 14". I'm trying to think of anyway that I could get my hands on one of these and feel good about it.

Hmm looking forward to seeing a nice Mooonero blankey... ahem, quilt

Oh trust me. These are the perfect blankies. I watch TV and Movies every night with mine  Grin

Here is mine. So soft. The material is different then the quilts being made (brushed cotton), but if there is interest. We can make a fluffy Monero quilt.

The intended price point for the wall hangings was $400. I still need to confirm with the quilters individually for each project as it concludes. It's hard to set specific values to quilts as the design and complexity can change the required time and thus changes the price.

Here was the originally discussed starting prices for Crypto Quilts projects:

Wall Hanging/Baby: 30'x30' and under ($400)
Throw/Lap: 60'x'60 and under ($800)
Double/Queen/King: 85x85 to 110'x110' ($1,000+)

Please note these are rough sizes and Crypto Quilts plans to keep most quilts under Throw/Lap size. I hope to eventually have a large quilt, but I don't think the project is there quiet yet.

The intention is that no quilts will be reserved unless commissioned. It would not be fair to others if any reservations were made initially. The quilts will go directly to Auction and if not successful they will go to a Raffle. If the Raffle is not successful it will be listed as [WTS] until sold.

Looking fantastic. Definitly interested in the XMR and BTC quilts.

The next two XMR and BTC quilts are wall hanging sizes 20'x30'. Here is the rough order of coming quilts. This list will change.

#2 - Ethereum Quilt 20'x30
#3 - Bitcoin Quilt 20'x30'
#4 - Monero Quilt 20'x30'

#5 - Ethereum Quilt 58'x'58'
#6 - Monero Quilt 58'x'58'
#7 - Top 10 Cryptocurrencies 58'x58' (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, Litecoin, IOTA etc) See Pokemon Quilt

Note: The order will change depending on interest and demand. I hope to auction each quilt and if the auction is not successful I will raffle off the quilts.

Any pictures of the happy quilters at work?  I've seen some questionable working conditions in the past.

Haha, tried that and the picture was just of 6 ladies holding up their hands in front of their faces. "Don't put our picture on the internet".

I want to eventually put up specific quilters work sort of like "artist page" depending on interest from the community and with their permission.

Damn you now I have to watch Happy Gilmore...

Thanks for the info! What is the expected pricing for the wall-quilts 20x30? I might want to reserve the XMR one, if that's possible, depending on pricing ofc.

Can you make one that is double thread Afghan? That's what my baby blanket is made out of, and it's huge but I've had it my whole life.

It's also got maybe 3 or 4 different color strands in it maybe 5. Something like that

From quick google search that seems to be knitting. Not something from my knowledge any of these quilters do. However, I will ask around and see as I'm curious about the style.

Is there any reason that you have decided to decrease the size and increase the quantity of quilts being produced? I imagine it is because you are attempting to appeal to a larger audience and don't have the capabilities to produce them all at the first quilt's size. Please clarify, because I know you mention these would be better for framing, but I truly believe people are more interested in using the quilt for it's intended purpose of warmth. People love a good snuggle. They've got their Bitcoin mug, sipping their tea while being covered in their Bitcoin blanket and fall asleep while pretending their ASIC miner is a white noise machine.

I would like to see all of the quilts large, but that's just my personal take. The ethereum quilt looks ridiculously good, better even than the Bitcoin one. Please do post updates and pictures from each project.

It seems to be that your best bet is in the collectibles section, but it's a tricky one. Minerjones might know better than I would.

There are several reasons for the smaller quilts this go around.

1. Turn Around. Takes less time to create the same quality quilt but a smaller size. Note: Quality is the same for any size quilt.
2. Time and Scheduling. Getting people to work on a larger project takes coordination. The smaller quilts have been given to 3 different quilters after initial design and piecing by the group. Allows them to work from home instead of on a large quilt rack at the quilt guild.
3. Lack of initial interest. There were no bids on the Bitcoin Quilt #1 Auction. I think people were caution about myself and the project. This allows people an alternative.

I think it also comes from a collection standpoint. People might be more interested in buying a smaller version as they can enjoy it, but also turn around and sell it later down the line when Crypto Quilts is famous (right?). The larger quilts adds more intimacy to ownership, physical usage and thus a larger investment.

This is from feedback and suggestions from some of the quilters as a smaller item might be of more interest. There are arguments for both side of the fence. It will be interesting to see what options and feedback come from the smaller quilts.

As promised an update from the announcement of the announcement on the project.

There are three quilts in the works. I'm working out how I want to put these quilts up for sale. The option is either raffling them off to increase interest or just listing them up for auction. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Quilt #2 - Ethereum 18'x'24'
Quilt #3 - Bitcoin 18'x'24'
Quilt #4 - Monero 18'x'24'
Note: These sizes are more wallhangings or framed displays. Depending on interest and requests Quilt #5 will be similar in size to Quilt #1 58'x58'.

Here is a teaser picture of Quilt #2. For those of you with Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cryptoquilts

I've added a commission section on the website upon request. It's very exciting time as the first commission has been ordered by someone on the forums! They don't want their information shared, but they ordered a baby quilt as they are expecting their first child.

As a reminder this project is non-profit and I cover all shipping costs 100% of proceeds go to the quilters. If you want to support Crypto Quilts:

That is one of the nicest quilts I have ever seen.  This is really a cool project and I might look back into this again when fall/winter roll back around (and coin price has mooned!).

It is a shame that artisan craftsmen aren't appreciated as much these days, that really is a beautiful looking piece.  I'm sure the new owner will enjoy it!

Quilt successfully received Cheesy

Quality is spot on. Feels and looks great. Am quite happy with my quilt and OP/seller made it worth every satoshi Cheesy

Thank you for the 1st Bitcoin Quilt....  will def. be a repeat customer

Bigger than I thought too....

Thanks for joining the discussion and giving your feedback, because as I said I've been following this thing since it started getting stitched. I was almost convinced from the very beginning that it was going to be an elaborate scam attempt, but I'm very happy to see it in the hands of somehow that's reputable and satisfied with what they've received.

The real question, does it pass the smell test?

Spazzer this is exactly why I was so pushy about getting feedback from whoever your first customer was. minerjones is extremely well known around the community and the fact that they are giving you the thumbs up says a lot. It actually reinforces my idea of contacting you for a custom quilt, but again we're going to wait for a jump in BTC price; assuming you aren't too popular for my custom order by then.

I totally understood your answer. The difference between a handmade quilt and a manufactured quilt is similar to a painting drawn by an artist and a painting printed via a printer. Printed painting might be very cheap, maybe of better quality also; but it lacks the spirit of an artist. Kudos to your answer. If I ever have extra funds to spend, I will surely look for your community's hand made quilt. Smiley
