Polo is one of the very first exchanges that i've used and i can say they're not what you say there are. Issues like this happen to majority of the exchanges and they have support teams that handle users with issues. And it's already a given that you should't put money in exchanges that you're not going to trade with. It's not your if it's not in your wallet.

Poloniex is an infamous service that I don't like to use, which I use at most two or three times in all my economic life. In particular, it has been a service that I never thought to use with the reason of not giving value to its own investors, preventing users' accounts without any reason, bad live support, insufficient transaction volume and nonsensical security measures. Although it is popular in this market and the transaction volume is good compared to many services, it is a service that I no longer intend to use or recommend.

Crypto users are definitely familiar with the Poloniex exchange because it is a long standing exchange, not sure about Poloniex because I have left it for a long time because of problems with withdrawals and there are still many problems experienced by many users out there such as freezing account etc. I just want to convey to be careful there and always do more research about the feedback and reputation of Poloniex.

I believe that Poloniex has lost the confidence of traders. Everything was fine before, but now with her there are any problems. I like most to use Binance and I think that many will agree with me that this is one of the best and most convenient exchanges for trading.

Well looks like majority have worst view about Poloniex. In my case, I've experienced none.

I don't even see these exchange as "graveyard" like others saying. Current trading volume is still decent although we can't really compare it back in their peak. Been an avid trader here prior implementing KYC. When that policy came, I have limit my trading activity but still undergo KYC to avoid trouble if ever one of my coins here will begin to bloom "again". My verification process takes about 10 days to be verified (iirc).

The only worst up to today is their support. This has been the case even during their peak.

Bottom line: If people don't know how to play with the waters here, don't take a risk and just used other reputable ones.

Apart from Coinbase, I don’t like using any exchange and I don’t trust any exchange either. I think if you are interested in Crypto trading then you should go for proper broker not exchange which is difficult. I trade under 3 brokers including Exness/Instaforex and FPMarkets, which all got Cryptos available to trade and it’s secure. There are many more Crypto Brokers that we can select if we want and can be not a bad option at all.

I didn't actually have big problems with Poloniex but I can share that they never even once replied my support ticket for a deposit that didn't arrive on time. Eventually it arrived one day after waiting for many days (as I can recall). But no apologies. Support ticket never closed. No nothing. Did I ever go back to Poloniex? No way mister not after the treatment I got from them. Might change my mind one day but I don't see how.

Poloniex is not popular anymore for some reason, their trading volume has dropped as traders have transfered to Binance and Houbi.
I admit that in the past I have been trading this site when it was still popular together with Bittrex, I left because of their service but because of their low volume.

Aside from that poloniex has the highest transaction fees from all the exchangers i have used,and I totally agreed on the first 3 post that says the scam accusations involving poloniex (but i never been a victim though my cousin was)and the stupidity of this exchange is the laziness and effortless of the support team whenever theres a issue from the users.

For OP this is a good article but just a piece of advice,why not try to create from other platform aside from poloniex for the benefits of more aspiring investors for not to become a victim of such problems

I've used Poloniex for years in the pre-KYC days and I've never had any issues. They did have some hack back in 2014 or so and it ended up having a small haircut for all BTC balances but that was before my time.

When I used them I've never encountered any issues. The withdraws were almost instant, fees were fair. The deposits for some alts were really slow due to the long confirmation times but its not the exchanges fault.

When Bitcoin went on a full bull rally in 2017, the exchange had to implement KYC and that is what caused most of the issues. Because most balances were frozen and they did some without warning and every since then the exchange went down-hill. Looking at the total volume, its a very low volume exchange these days.

I believe you are not the only one who experienced bad thing in Poloniex. I have to admit that Poloniex was one of the best exchanges few years ago, at least it was my first non-local exchange that I used to trade regularly long time ago. I stopped to use Poloniex since there are many issues on withdrawals which took too long time to solve.
I appreciate OP's effort in making tutorial how to trade in an exchange started from creating an account, but it would be nice if OP choose a better exchange such as Binance for the tutorial.

Poloniex may not have the fame as ever but I cant categories them as scam beside it is one of the exchanges with a genuine volume of trade now. They do a lot diligence to list projects now and has one of the longest track record as high volume exchange.

Agree with @Patato Chips, i had a problem with my account and it was urgent. I did try to contact support but i was so disappointed, it took over 5 days to get a response from them of which i had already given up and moved on. I have never looked back to that exchange. It sucks.

Two years ago, Poloniex was a real monopoly on the market. Today there are much better exchanges. I've been using poloniex for a long time and so far there is not a problem at all, even a lot has improved in terms of support, just trading volume is declining

Have you considered adding something about algorithms? I've been using this: https://app.signals.network, you can create your strategies to be used on Poloniex. But it's still kinda in early phase.
