Welcome to the forum, OP.
You are not alone in hearing about Bitcoin. The difference is, what exactly did you hear? A lot of people are terrified by this name, thinking that Bitcoin is a scam. Others are too enamored with Bitcoin and believe, believing that Bitcoin will take them out of poverty forever and make them rich.
Try to take a sober look at Bitcoin, having learned not only the advantages but also the disadvantages. Draw your own conclusions by reading the topics, of which there are a lot on the forum, and you will probably become a permanent member of this society, acquiring not only the right knowledge about Bitcoin but also many new friends.

Most of the fellows already gave a warm welcome to you so not being redundant I would like to say that if you are really interested in learning you need to struggle here because now most of the topics created in the section whether it's about the Bitcoin Discussion or the Trading or altcoin you will find the topics and questions asked by the Newbies if there is a question then you can find some useful insights by reading the feedbacks o the senior members.

I would say that if you want to learn in a better mode you should have to ask seniors, on your local board about the best topics created by the old members.. They can give you references to those threads and after reading a useful thread you can judge the topic by 100 views because there will so many comments on the thread and opinions by different users, This is what I like most about the forum. Its time taking but more efficient. In other way you can ask for the topics after getting engaged with he discussion on any thread, most of the times if senior finds the repitive topic they give the other references as well.

Enjoy you journey.

Hello community

I just opened this account here but although I won't say this is the first time am hearing the word Bitcoin before although Bitcointalk itself an entirely new term to me. Bitcoin is almost everywhere in my region and although it is said to be restricted to trade or transact it with fiat bank but still yet it has refused to die low.
Just as you candle light up a candle in the house and hide it under the table that's how no instruments of restrictions from the government can make bitcoin lay low or die out. Good things will always sell itself amidst opposing  philosophies.

First off, welcome to Bitcointalk.
Second, it's good that you open an account here so that you can see the crypto is for real. We understand that there are a lot of skeptics just like you.
But that is ok, the sooner you admit that this is not a scam or something, the better.
I will advise you to go and read a lot from this community. You can ask questions from time to time if you don't understanding something. But reading will be your best weapon here as a starter.
And don't forget to read about the rules so that you won't break any that can make your account ban from this community.
