Any government in favor of the people will not make something legal. Of course, they will not make it illegal, either. What do I mean? Making something legal or illegal simply says that government is in control of it. And since people do their own regulating of things, what government is really doing is controlling the people. Government control of the people means less freedom for the people.

Rather, get government out of it altogether. Let them repeal any laws they have about cryptocurrencies, and make no more laws regarding them. Only then will the people be free to use them as they want.

Cool

That's pretty cool. considering that Belarus is not the most open minded country... But I am happy they made such a decision Smiley

Have you ever been to Belarus? I don't think that Belarus is not an open minded country. If you listen to a lot of western propaganda, then this can happen. For the western media, Saudi Arabia can be the most open minded country in the world and Belarus and Russia can be dictatorships. But the truth is known to everyone.
Ye, you're right on 100%!

Does Belarus belong to West now? I guess so, I think they have some issues with Russia, I saw recently that Belorussian president has made some aggressive statement against the Russian dominance in the region.
Belarus is a X soviet country. Putin wants create old Soviet Russia again. The west doesn't want it happens, We can see meantime Ukraine Russia conflict, USA and NATO help Ukraine.

That is actually pretty interesting. Wondering what is Lukashenko thinking about and what is his purpose.

I am also wondering about how states with particular political systems see cryptocurrnecies. Democratic states are both very acceptive (Switzerland) some are less into it, considering the legality of crypto (Poland). Similarly some non-democratic countries are trying to adopt (Belarus, Venezuela) some are banning (North Korea- but that is pretty obovious) some are uncertain (China).

In my opinion, government's attitude towards cryptocurrencies is going to play a key role in the future.

Yes true,
one thing. Does poland considering to legalize Bitcoin? If they do , that's a good news,
I am interesting about Poland.
many people says Poles are very nice people. Hope Crypto will make them happier,

I wonder how many countries have allowed or legalized the use of Bitcoin or any other Cryptocurrency? As far as I know, only Japan has fully legalized the use of it. While US and UK have been open but still regulate the use of it.

Yes indeed This is a good sign also good move from Belarus for their own benefit I think.
Hope lot more countries will follow foot step of Belarus in coming time periods

If this news is true, then I think that it will be hugely beneficial not just to the Belorussians, but also for the neighboring people such as the Poles, Russians, Lithuanians and Ukrainians. See what happened after Japan legalized the crypto-currencies. A number of new ventures were created there, resulting in more jobs and tax revenue.

Isn't this country within Russia's sphere of influence? I just hope that cryptos would prosper there and it wouldn't get embroiled in politics with the big bear. It seem Eastern and to some extend Central Europe lags with other members so any additional source of funding is great. Just don't let the ECB shoot this down, LOL.

Yes Russian influences exits in Belarus. for your attention - Since 2014, following years of embrace of Russian influence in the country, Lukashenko has pressed a revival of Belarusian identity, following the Russian annexation of Crimea and military intervention in Eastern Ukraine. For the first time, he delivered a speech in Belarusian (rather than Russian, which most people use), in which he said, “We are not Russian — we are Belarusians,” and later encouraged the use of Belarusian. Trade disputes, a border dispute, and a much relaxed official attitude to dissident voices are all part of a weakening of the longtime warm relationship with Russia - wiki

Well, good luck having to escape Russia's influence. That's exactly what got Ukraine into trouble. I suppose a large population of ethnic Russians also live there, like in Crimea.

Anyway, I don't know what to make of Lukashenko. I found this old article. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/03/belarus-mythbuster-what-like-live-europe-last-dictatorship

Surprised they allowed cryptos there. You think they'd use it to hide money away? Regardless, the more economically free people are, the more empowered they are. Hope the country transition smoothly.
