Well, I don't know how the movie goes forward when you say his girlfriend knew it's certain kind of scam. There might be a turning point part in that movie where cryptocurrency will come out as a legit investment, or It's just that coin "doolycoin" turned out to be a scam, but the movie clarifies the legitimacy of cryptocurrency investments.
If that movie didn't applied what I have mentioned above, then I can say It will going to create negative image to people who knows nothing about cryptocurrency.

To measure maybe it has positive impact or negative impact can be determined by the role in which the crypto play in the series.I have come across bitcoin being mentioned in many film but when the scenario in which it was used is bad then it bring a negative impact. For instance, a movie about a criminal wanting to be settled for ransom through bitcoin might generate a negative thought

The sooner it's treated as a fact of life rather than a cheesy plot point is when we know it's starting to go places properly. When it becomes the centrepiece of the story it's usually deeply offensive to anyone who actually knows anything about it.

One of the first mentions of Bitcoin I ever saw in TV and Film was in a sci fi TV series called Being Human about android cops or something. That was late 2013 and they were paying each other with 'Bitcoin sticks' like it was what people unthinkingly did every day.

Everything was going well until you said his girlfriend calls it dine-and-dash scam lol. Well, whatever, I believe that a lot of people are starting to know about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as a whole now. I have seen a lot of bigger movies mentioned cryptocurrency, the one you have here is just a Korean movie that not so many people know about. I have seen Bitcoin being mentioned in the Simpsons, and a lot of other bigger films.

What I don't like though is that some of these movies are fond of painting cryptocurrencies as something bad, but I guess it's up to people who don't know about it to do proper research and understand what it's all about and that it is not a scam.

This is the site is called "HappyBIT" I tried searching about it but it seems just a fiction
I don't know why, but I also followed you to search for "HappyBIT" because of curiosity, and indeed this is only fictitious, so the site is only used for film purposes only.  Grin Grin
Yeah I've spent a minute searching for it, but nothing is popping.

Korea itself has begun to open with both hands for cryptocurrency. Maybe the film is not directly about cryptocurrency. But at least, this can be an introduction to the audience. Moreover, many people both in the country itself or outside Korea who like watching Korean films. So, isn't that good to introduce to the people about crypto? However, one to note is that what kind of introduction is there? Is it related to the good points of crypto? or its risks or dangers? For, it will also really give influence to the audience about their thought of the crypto world.
The cryptocurrency appearance on that television series is just a tiny part of the whole series, it's like a 10 seconds in an hour however that duration of negativity from cryptocurrency can make an impact to the whole community most probably to the interested ones, I just find it really bad using cryptocurrency to depict scam and failed investments.
Actually, there have been several movies about Bitcoin specifically or even about cryptocurrency. Some of them are:

However, I have never watched it. Maybe it can be scheduled sometime while filling in the free time during the lockdown.
I have already watch some of these, the others are documentaries about bitcoin, I'm not interested to opinions from any people making a video about it.

I used to be amazed the first times I heard 'Bitcoin' in TV shows I watched, but now it's pretty common. Mr Robot is a great show where cryptos play a big part. Crypto tokens are a big deal in Silicon Valley as well. TBBT has an episode about Bitcoin, even Atypical mentioned Bitcoin. These are just the shows that I've watched and in which I've noticed crypto-related stuff.

I wouldn't watch the first one because it's enforcing the stereotype about the government and banks being great and fighting the money laundering criminals using cryptos. At least, that's what I got from the trailer.

It is true that "HappyBit" is a property site specifically created only for movies and will not be found if you try to find it.

South Korea is known as Drama Film but apparently Korea also makes films about Cryptocurreny and Bitcoin. Only know a few films about the use of Bitcoin, but the setting of Bitcoin is only used as a place to save money from stealing and breaking into other people's accounts.

Korea itself has begun to open with both hands for cryptocurrency.
South Korea has developed a Basic Bill for cryptocurrency that will regulate the use of cryptocurrency in a transparent manner and will categorize it as a digital currency. The purpose of the bill was made to prevent money laundering and protect investors.

I wish there was a way those of us outside of S Korea could watch it?
Have you tried Netflix? This is the most legal way to watch this kind of series. For more information about the website. Visit this link https://www.netflix.com/ph/. However, Netflix is still not available in the following countries such as China, North Korea and Syria.
Yeah I'm watching it from netflix, I just take a photo of it because netflix does not allow any form of screenshot, you can use sandbox to make it happen but that will take a while so I just captured it using my phone.

I just recently finished the first episode earlier and it is not very surprising if they are going to use crypto as an alternative mode of payment in their shady activity. There are lots of movies that involves crypto in their payment system and most of them portrays crypto specifically bitcoin as a way of getting paid anonymous which I think is very misleading to some extent.

In general, if an average Joe sees that crypto is used in fraudulent activities, they are most likely to perceive crypto as negative. Increasing crypto appearances in commercial/ movies/ series is a good move in making crypto to be seen in public.
They are not using crypto in the series as form of payment even he is doing an illegal way of living, they still use cash (Korean Won) to pay the escorts it is just that his father invested in an ICO project ( As much as I think of it) then it happened to be not a scam but a massive dump from the coin, probably another shitcoin added in the market.

What are your thoughts on this kind of crypto appearances?
Is it positive or negative to the cryptocurrency as general?
Just imagining that it was turned out to be scam investment I think that has negative effect on the cryptocurrency in general as well. Well, this do happen as well in real life I guess there's a lesson to get in here but they should have explained on the other side what really the cryptocurrency is all about and how it was made.

I've also watch couple of movies that do feature bitcoin but sadly,  one thing is common to them all, they do seems to use bitcoin for bad and illegal things like hackers and fraudsters demanding their payment through cryptocurrency to prevent being traced, drug lords and cartels using bitcoin to push their weapons and drugs. It's suppose to always be a happy thingy for the market but the fact they are using it for bad things sends a bad message to tge outside world about this market

This is one odd sounding movie/television show but personally I think any publicity is good publicity for bitcoin at this point.  ( a good example is wikileaks and silk road.  Satoshi was not happy about bitcoins connection with wikileaks but it did up bringing a whole lot of attention to bitcoin.  Same goes for silk road.  Sure an online drug emporium isn't a great look for bitcoin, but some argue if it had never happened, bitcoin may not be anywhere close to where it is today).

I wish there was a way those of us outside of S Korea could watch it?

Seems that it is hard to get that movie. And it would be hard to watch if there's no English subtitle. But anyway, if SKoreans will watch it, they may have idea what crypto is especially those who are still non crypto users. I guess it is good on crypto, raise awareness about its existence.

The story is about a wise high school boy whose life is nowhere to go, dead-end life, committing a crime for leading an application letting high school girls to earn money with escorting. *fast forward* the earnings of him is going well until he loses his phone, *fast forward* his father stole his earned money suppose to be his savings for college from his apartment, then his dad invested it cryptocurrency.

Netflix isn't allowing screenshot so I took a photo of it

This is the site is called "HappyBIT" I tried searching about it but it seems just a fiction

And this is where did he invest on "DoolyCoin"

His girl friend knows about it and call it dine-and-dash scam ( I don't know much about it)
