EMC2 is working on a crowd funding campaign to help raise funds for scientific research, it will start soon. Use this link to see the campaign page coming together:

Merry Christmas to all.
Can you explain to me the purpose of this campaign and what it will entail. The campaign itself is not very informative of the motives behind it. What will the money be used for, what is its end game, how will it help something that is widely known in the medical world?
Thanks for your questions
There are different ways of viewing this campaign, the primary audience is the crowd funding community not associated with cryptocurrency; a second audience is the cryptocurrency industry, and a third way of viewing this campaign is by a science research audience.
With that said, and given that we (you and me) are in the CC industry I'll start from there. This campaign is being conducted at indiegogo the second largest crowd funding campaign in the world. The campaign will have many eyes on it. This is a way to tacitly introduce CC to the wider worldwide community. Indiegogo does not currently accept any CC on their platform our ongoing campaigns (this is the first) will very likely change that.
The Einsteinium Foundation has a mission to raise funds for scientific research, our mining tax creates a pool of funds that we provide to grant applicants that are approved by the board. Recently we intergrated crowd funding into the process to enable the grant beneficiary to receive more money than we could immediately supply. This enables us to market the project, our coin, our sponsor items, and crypto all at the same time.
From the perspective of the science community this is a science research project seeking funding for two things, to provide funds in appreciation of work done, and as motivation for more work to be done. More specifically, in 2009 the Abel lab make a great discovery that lack of sleep triggers a chemical in the brain that causes memory loss. Recently, the lab also with Dr. Havekes created a method to interrupt that trigger in mice to reduce or eliminate memory loss due to lace of adequate sleep. Dr. Havekes' intention is to apply his knowledge and methods to humans such that people who often get low levels of sleep ("shift workers and doctors") may suffer less memory loss due to sleep deprivation.
Often times when dealing with scientific research its very difficult to see all of the connections, but as one person commented at youtube this video: "Suffering from diagnosed insomnia myself, this research is great and will support".
The largest audience is the general crowd funding audience, the purpose of this campaign is to make them aware of some problems caused by sleep deprivation and the work Dr. Havekes is doing to solve the cognitive problems associated with sleep deprivation. A secondary purpose is to make that same audience aware of cryptocurrency, and that there is an org in that world that funds scientific research.
So to answer your first question -- what is the purpose of the campaign -- to provide awareness of a problem, to encourage support of the investigation of the cause, and to support the search for the solution.
You said: "The campaign itself is not very informative of the motives behind it." I'm sorry about that, I invite you to please help us to recreate the message so that it is concise and cogent and effective.
You also: "What will the money be used for, what is its end game, how will it help something that is widely known in the medical world?" this campaign isn't for making a product or service, its for rewarding successful research and to inspire more research. Such is the case for most scientific grants ie: nobel.
As for Cryptodatabase it's an opportunity to get involved with what we are doing at the very start.
