Fresh information from reddit - Cryptopia has permission to reopen

Hi guys,

I'm a journalist in NZ.

I just had some communication with police, who confirm they have wrapped up the on-site investigation.

From detective inspector Greg Murton: "Cryptopia management have full access to their facility and business premises and the Police investigation is not preventing their business from getting up and running again. However only Cryptopia management can speak to when it may be open again."

Story: https://www.nbr.co.nz/story/police-give-cryptopia-permission-reopen-investigation-heats

It's a shame, the link is only available for suscribers, so it's bearly impossible to read the post  Sad

Had a think about this:

I've been waiting for someone to bring this up...  Grin  Cool  Kiss

@Timelord2067... just a (very) minor correction to your OP:

Unless otherwise stated, all times in blue are NZ (GMT +12)
We're currently on NZ Daylight Savings Time... NZDT is UTC+13

Otherwise, thanks for curating this list of articles. Excellent work!

Hi,

Well spotted - I know from living across the ditch in SEQ that when the rest of the country goes onto nutty time that times on the east coast are still AEST (ie GMT +10) as opposed to AEDST.

And so it is for New Zealand that New Zealand is and always will be (unless the international date line gets moved yet again) sitting at GMT +10.   When NZ goes onto nutty time most of the rest of the planet stops being on nutty time, then when they go onto nutty time New Zealand has recovered its senses (thus nature balances itself out)...

I've cast very long shadows down Princess Street towards St Kilda Beach and along Linwood Avenue towards Ferrymead... (... and New Brighton Beach  Shocked )

I'll be over for WOW again this year.

Unless otherwise stated, all times in Aqua are NZ (GMT +12) and in blue are NZDST (GMT+13)

How do the legal fees work here, who pays if you don't get anything from Cryptopia?

If you were talking about our initiative, the legal fees are free for all Gunbot users. It depends if the number of people that are not gunbot users and would apply are treasurable or not, our lawyers might or might not ask for a fee, it isn't decided yet and eventually I will notice everyone about their requests before to accept non gunbot users applications.

Our organization as an incorporated company is gathering informations in order to make a legal class-action against Cryptopia on behalf of Gunbot users that have lost their funds at Cryptopia. I will post on our forum detailed instructions. The service is totally free for Gunbot users , if any not Gunbot users wanna join (assuming we are talking about serious cases with proofs of lost funds) you are welcome to message me or one of our staff.

Doesnt worth as much imo since funds are already gone but still Cryptopia owners are a legal entity and if any kind of responsibility is proven by a court, they are liable.

Hi, at the time of the hack I had some daytrading bids on Cryptopia, but none of them in ERC coins. I'd like to get my funds back.
Anyone knows if people is organizing to reclaim funds?

Just wanted to add another Cryptopia wallet so we have them all listed in one place:

- Cryptopia wallet https://etherscan.io/address/0x2984581eCE53A4390d1F568673cf693139C97049

One more note I was intrigued by this transaction:
https://etherscan.io/tx/0xaeba4219a28942248203121968e69502ad878652db5e51389d597a5ae2051847

Robbers scraped 0,47 ETH that came 2 days after first hack (probably by accident).

This last robbery of 0,47 ETH took place 14 days after the main hack  Huh Huh

This shows that Cryptopia lost control completely of their wallets.

Police baffled as crypto-currency funds disappear

https://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/morningreport/audio/2018680963/police-baffled-as-crypto-currency-funds-disappear

From Morning Report, 8:44 am today (Monday, 4th February 2019)

Quote
Funds are continue to be drained from the New Zealand digital currency exchange Cryptopia more than two weeks after police started investigating. Various cryptocurrencies believed to be worth more than $23 million have been siphoned from the trading exchange since it was first hacked on January 14. But even with scores of police investigators on the case, money is still disappearing, the latest being 260 thousand dollars worth last week. on Tuesday. Max Galker, who runs the cryptocurrency watchdog Elementus, has been monitoring the flow of virtual money from Cryptopia. He told RNZ reporter Matthew Theunissen most hackers aren't caught.

That should read "Both @xtraelv and @an00b please take your discussion BACK to the Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/cryptopia-cryptocurrency-platform-services-and-development-1669443 thread which is an open discussion about Cryptopia started by one of the founders of Cryptopia, TripleHeXXX." as I saw this after commenting:

There is on other thread some interesting conversation about 51% going on that might deserve a bit more attention, so I decided to link it here

Because @an00b instigated this exchange and posted the above, s/he is similarly banned from posting in this thread.

Is 'First come first serve' legal or not?

No, it's not.

It's trading while insolvent.

Is 'First come first serve' legal or not?

The only thing that would be stopping payments in such a scenario is the blockchain ledger balance which was fraudulently altered by the 51% attack.

yes or NO?

I don't think it is legal that the blockchain is dishonoring the blockchain balance it initially confirmed prior to being exploited and fraudulently altered by a 51% attack.  Do you ?

This conversation is done.

Your refusal to answer the question and use of an alt account to post speaks volumes. Which 51% attacked coin are you representing ?

There are numerous things a coin can do if it does not have sufficient hashrate to protect the network:

Checkpointing.
Changing to a less vulnerable algorythm
Introducing a hybrid system.
Utilising masternodes.
