I was curious to ask about what bump means on [Suspicious link removed] ,which i saw when i was reading the forum rules . When i was reading the rules i came across something called bumping ,and is said to be done once per thread in 24 hours so i became curious and wish to ask about what it means.

As a newbie in this forum in this forum i wish to know about what bumping means and how to bump.
Here is explanation from theymos about bumping

An example: a bump button sounds good as a fix for certain very visible problems, but it also codifies a broken system. People would use bots to bump all of their threads constantly, giving "industrial" posters a huge advantage over casual posters. A captcha could maybe help a little, but there are services where you can pay a tiny fee to have captchas solved for you. (Which opens another question: maybe a comparatively tiny fee should be allowed as an alternative to having you solve a captcha.) A better solution would be to replace the concept of traditional bumping with something quite different, with different bumping models for different types of sections. But that requires further thought. If implementing a bump button was free, perhaps it'd be worthwhile to at least do it for now and fix a few minor problems with bumping today. But since it's a clearly-imperfect solution, this isn't even on my miles-long to-do list.

I would also like to suggest you to follow this topic to know  about the FAQs and the rules of bumping - Bumping - Rules, FAQs

If you have just posted a topic, the topic will be at the top of the first page of the board that you posted it. If other people are posting on your topic/thread, the topic will be seen at the top part of the first page of the board. If no one is posting there again and people are posting on another threads, you topic will move down. As more people post under more threads which is not yours and nobody posting on your the topic that you created (which is there thread that you started), the topic/thread will move down of the first page, later move to the second page, then move again and getting to third page and so on until someone post under your thread. If you have nothing to post yet on the thread but you still want the thread to appear on the first page, your can just post 'bump' so that your topic can appear at the top part of the first page again for more people to see it.

Simply put, the word bump is written to warm up or bring your topic to the fore. For example, if your topic is of standard and good conversation, you can bump it again. When your topic is down, you can bump it up and bring it up again.
This is how bump is used for discussion.

In simple terms, bumbing means bringing up your thread to be amongst the hot threads or recent threads.

It's just to create an awareness that this thread is still very much open to new ideas which is mostly done when one is not satisfied with the current response. Not more nothing less.

you can bumb this thread if it's a good thread that requires more visibility.

It’s meant to bring more visibility to an existing thread. Most of the time, it’s mostly used by those who have service threads.

Once you bump the thread, it will be part of the recent thread to be seen on that board, creating more visibility so that people will know that such services exist.

And before you can make another bump in the next 24 hours, you need to delete the previous one in order not to make it look spammy.
