It is dark because there are illegal stuff there nothing big though, you need to have some knowledge first to be able to trade there.
All you need to have are some links to get on there usually but still I wouldn't just go on dark marketplaces and buy stuff cause if you buy there it could be undercovers trying to catch criminals I have heard stories already where this has happened.

Dark marketplaces are just a fancy word for illegal marketplaces if you host one you could get in trouble if people are trading illegal properties over there.

And they are not going to be stopped they are going to keep on operating so if you are curious about dark marketplaces it is better if you are not going to get involved with any of their transactions. Because of the people there are very hard-headed once and they always wanted to be followed even though you are their customer.
In long run, I believe they will not get sustained with their non reputed market dealings as people will stop supporting them, but I fear there are new people will come and keep on testing them.

I would suggest don't ever try to have transactions in the dark market because that is just going to make you feel unsafe. i guess some of the links on the deepweb that is indexed as a blackmarkets are just a trap made by the undercover agents or the FBI . i have tried to surf the darkweb and entered some drugs and weapon markets just to see if there are actually a illegal stuffs that are being sold there .

So what I tend to believe is wrong that bitcoin is anonymous so if someone wants to look upon at your transactions it tends that it is just going to be traceable. But I guess that is just going to happen if some investigation is needed. But the ip address is not going to be traceable so what I am justifying is wrong from now on.
