well there was premine.....pirates !, but I guess being pirates they squandered that on rum years ago, but they do keep to the code  Wink

Just to make sure, I've been stung a few times by crooked coins, is there any substantial crookedness in Doubloons history?

The announcement was May 15 xx:23 pm.
The first block seems to have had 6.77 dbl and was mined May 15 at xx:09 pm.
About 30 blocks were mined, 200 dbl or so, then a couple minute gap when I guess Shakezula posted?
So there seems to be
1) no premine, just some blocks mined to get it started at launch
2) no special rewards for early miners, an even payout through today, extremely unusual in early coins.

I'm going to make a page on the site detailing any negatives I can find about doubloons, since that is the first thing a person should look for. So far all of the negatives are trivial and boil down to slackiness. Unupdated wallets, etc. Is there some major negative aside from that?

Is the wallet so overdue for an update that it's vulnerable to the heartbleed bug? Any wallets long overdue for an update are vulnerable.

Someone could probably do with creating a brand new topic with all the latest info.

No premine. Check.
No scumbaggery. Check.
No moderated thread. Check.
Still using the original thread. Check.

When the Wall Street Journal runs the headline "Doubloons to Replace U.S. Dollar as International Trade Currency" then the original poster will probably dry out for a few days and update this thread.

Pushed to git change in my P2Pool code.
Old settings was 5s share time - very unfriendly for ASICs. Now it is 20s.
New share chain data, delete shares.* files from data directory after git pull.

There v10: https://github.com/RazorLove/doubloons-qt
Not sure about 11
It is all still compatible.

Couple of months late to be responding to this but the 0.11.0.0 version that blazr2 released is here [source code]

Someone could probably do with creating a brand new topic with all the latest info.

The explorer is at doubloons.net, that is why I though someone here must own it.

I'll try to figure out the fridaynightunix link you posted and contact him there soon.

I am not someone you want in charge of something like a faucet. I'm lucky if I can plug in a toaster without getting an error code. I do know how to make a basic website though and I'll put a doubloons theme on a website just so there is something with up to date info. If the owner of doubloons.net makes a website too all the better. No monopoly.

-

added: I have a few undeveloped exchange name type domains, so I will make allcoinexchange.com a doubloons site.
It's online but the nameservers are still propagating. All suggestions welcome.

I have no idea how to use freenode or irc. The keypad on my tablet pc does not pop up there and I don't see a place to type.

The link I provided was merely a web based irc link, you simply need to choose a nickname and do the captcha test and it'll do the rest. I've checked through this thread and the first reference to that block explorer references diatonic as the owner. He's not logged in since January though.

Was there ever a website? I could register a domain but whoever has doubloons.net has a pretty good domain for the coin.

There was never really anything aside from shakezula's coin creation page that used to reside at andarazoroflove.org, doubloons.net redirects to this thread so it's possible he owns it but he's not logged in here for close to a year. He used to hangout in #fridaynightunix If you want to discuss it with him.

Maybe a simple landing page with specs, a cryptocurrency explanation and a link to the faucet.

It should be easy to get a little activity with this coin.

A suggestion for the faucet. Since crypto is supposed to be about fair play, among other things, maybe let people in certain categories get a little extra. For example if someone self certifies that they are an extreme charity case, or are from a country with a bare bones economy, let them get a few times more dbl from the faucet as an investment. It will give a little ethics to the coin. And if big holders of doubloons are generous the coin might at least get a fair reputation, something most coins lack.

If you get a site up and running I'll transfer the faucet code and wallet balance to you and you can run it directly. You can send me a PM for more specifics on how you want the faucet improved and I'll add the features you want free of charge. I already have a pretty decent personal DBL balance so anything you can do to improve the value of DBL is in my own best interests. Cheesy

add: Looking through the thread I see Petr1fied made a faucet in July but that one also seems down.

Sorry, I've not logged in for months but occasionally check in. I've put the DBL faucet back up but it may take a while to sync the 200K blocks that have occurred since I last fired up the client.

9999.999 sent to the faucet.

When doubloons hit $1 = 1 doubloon I'll send the final 0.001.

Use:
Code:
doubloons -bantime=5 -banscore=1000 -timeout=500
or add lines to doubloons.conf:
Code:
bantime=5
banscore=1000
timeout=500
It will reconnect back after 5 sec to node, node is harder to ban and it will find nodes faster.
When you successfully sync remove them.

Because changes in diff code and because many times diff drop rapidly daemon "thinks" that block data of some future block (compared to currently processed) are invalid and ban node that send that block.
It will be gone in v0.10 bitcoin code, where first of all block headers are downloaded.

If it stuck anyway, just restart client, it will continue. I have over 10 connections all time, mostly incoming.
Try add those nodes:
Code:
addnode=192.99.37.133
addnode=46.146.19.49
addnode=68.231.38.34

edit: lol, responded to question that vanish Tongue

Wait.

An ultra ethical coin created in mid 2013.
Less than 5,000,000 exist.
Market cap ~$5,000.

omfg

This coin is undervalued.

And there are almost none for sale.

It was never mean't to be taken seriously but neither was Dogecoin and look how well that's done.

Dogecoin was cleverly stealth marketed and made to favor early investors.

Doubloons seems to be fair.

I'm not going to pump it or anything but Doubloons has the possibility of developing a natural organic following of the kind that Dogecoin manufactured artificially. It would be nice to have a faucet so a person can refer others to a place where they can get a start. Does someone here know how to make a faucet?

add: Looking through the thread I see Petr1fied made a faucet in July but that one also seems down. I'll buy the 20,000 at 0.0004340 on Cryptsy and if someone makes a faucet I'll kick in half of that to start it and maybe also try to popularize doubloons a little online. No pumping bullshit, just exposure. I know zero about technical stuff and am not a miner so that's about the limit of what I can offer.

20,000 bought. 10,000 to the first working faucet made by someone who has already posted on this thread or has been on this website at least a few months.
