Hello, I have less than 0.01 BTC in my Deepbit account.  Can I donate that back to the pool or to someone?  I am done mining so I won't need that fractional BTC anymore.  Thanks.

Sure, you can donate it here:

the reason he's asking is because u can't withdraw anything less than .01

I got a question regarding the Difficulty History section (and please forgive me if this has already been answered before).  Why do some difficulty numbers have negative numbers next to them when they're clearly higher than the preceding number?
This a deviation percentage.
If it says -3%, this means that during given difficulty span pool's blocks were on average 3% easier (more profit to proportional users).

Can you be more specific please ?
What exactly is wrong on the stats page ? What is your login name ? (You can send it to me via PM or just post here a part of your bitcoin address).
May be you are refering to not seeing PPS rewards in the table ?

My apologies... I was out when I noticed the low payout and small amount of shares.  When I VPN'd into my machines from my phone everything seemed ok with my miners so I naturally thought maybe there was a reporting issue.  But since my post I have been getting my typical amount of shares.  I may have had connection issues before or something but the last three hours have been good.

The address I use for payout is 1zuxczb1csDEgCpb2jMxn1cCZswHh1rHa.

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner but I just got home. Thanks for looking into it and great work on the pool considering everything that has been going on.

Is the statistics page not reporting correctly... And therefore my payout also reporting incorrectly?  The numbers make no sense that I see under my account.  My miners are working fine and I reset the share counts on the account page and it seems fine but the stats page definitely has issues for my account.

I doubt these floods are even from a botnet, these days DNS Amplification attacks are just about impossible to stop..
Its not the pool operators fault the pool is going down, I would say he is doing a damn good job keeping it up through this bullshit.
Last time my servers were getting attacked they were taking 20Gbps+ DNS amplified attacks... smoked them right offline. Instantly nullrouted.

Agreed!  He is doing a great job!

well ive given up for now with deepbit, i cant seem to stay connected with all my miners.

They randomly drop and reconnect and in some cases only few stay connected where others wont ever connect.

Allmost like some artificial maximum connection per IP.

Keep in mind that most if not all pools were hit with extended DDOS today and some weathered it better than others.  BTC Guild was essentially down for the count and essentially remains so at well under 50% normal usage.  Slush stayed running I think due to the IP white list (if you don't mind high stale rates due to lack of long polling and score based rounds with 120 confirmation payouts ... you know the drill).  Obviously, I didn't check them all.

Try again now Smiley

Well he is a newbie, white listed so he must be knowledgeable and in the loop :p

I am half kidding since it seems unlikely that he does, but Eleuthria would surely deny it if this guy is lying, so then, if this guy knows both the attackers and the victims .... then what does that mean?  Or is there a partial truth here?  I can't come to a conlusion about anything posted, except that I can't mine, but I don't really case since the difficulty has made it such that it is not worth the constant babysitting [even if it is still profitable for me if things are running smooth 24/7].  Shutting down all mining equipment and going to normal GPU clock settings on my workstation until this blows over ... or bitcoin blows away.

I should point out that a little bit after the quoted post, perhaps 30 minutes or so, I tried mining with my workstation and things were up and running.  I brought my rigs back online and deepbit is doing just fine.  I think Tycho is doing some good work Smiley

Is there anything you do NOT know?

He doesn't know how many licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop.

Hah!  Confirmed my puzzlement over this white listed newbie Smiley

Thanks for answering that question for us.

The guys are criminals - probably not "script kiddies". They don't get what they want (having the botnet mine at pools), now they do this for punishing the pools. I hope it stops soon.

Your'e correct, these guys are not skiddies.  I only know, because I know who's actually behind all of this.  I have no take in it, just know from being connected via whomever.. however, its more than just a botnet and its not punishment.  They have their reasons behind it.  The attack against deepbit is not supposed to stop any time soon.  Its just how they're currently operating.

Conducting a DDOS requires access to a big botnet. And no, whitelists won't help if it's big enough (BTC Guild banned *every* IP, and they are still unable to offer their services because the connection is at the limit).

Additionally, BTC Guild did not black list every IP address.  This I know because I know Eleuthria at a more personal level.  There have been major changes to his infrastructure over the last few days and more to come in the coming week, however it takes more than just a large enough pipe to handle the attacks.

You need access to an upstream provider who is capable of withstanding the attack as well as mitigating through means of nulling the route upstream, not just the IP of the pools server, that doesn't do anything for the miners or the pool operators, other than shutting them down.

BTCGuild is moving to a larger connection, much larger connection.  This I know because I am the one plugging it in Wink
