Why not?as we can see the bitcoin price is $3650 so it will good to buy now if you have cash and wait a bull run so you can get great profit from.bitcoin. Don't wait that the bitcoin reach high price that you can't afford so grab the opportunity now as long you can afford it.

I said 3800 is within $1000 of the bottom. I think I drop below 3000 is possible, but wouldn't last long. I think 3000s will end up the bottom and we'll be hanging around 3000s and 4000s for the most part until mid-2019

So as per your view, then it is a good time to start buying. but i think first the market will test the $3000 level and if it is broken then the next bottom no one knows it as the market will come in panic mode and how much low it will go no one knows it. So i think if you are thinking of investing then right now only buy 20% of you investment and wait for another dip and then buy same way so your buying price will be averaged.

It might not dip lower, you never know. I think the best way is to buy now, then just gradually buy (like as much as you can from each paycheck over the coming months) because you never know when the lowest price has come, so rather than wait for dips just buy a bit every week or something. I'm perfectly happy with <$4k so I've bought a bunch the past two weeks and I'll continue buying for another week or two, just to make sure no matter what happens I've bought some under $4k. Then I'll resume buying a bunch more the first few months of 2019.

The bitcoin price index is now 1.000000 XBT = 3,836.92 USD

~1 year ago the price was 1.000000 XBT = 19,916.37 USD

The current price is 19.3% of the previous all-time-high.

In the future, maybe a moment like this will be something rare or difficult for us to find, because price fluctuations are very difficult for us to predict. For me, this is the right time to convert cash into the bitcoin format, but not for them especially those who expect the price of bitcoin to fall lower, so someday they can buy large amounts of bitcoin at low prices.

As the saying goes: the best time to invest was yesterday, the second-best time is today.

You shouldn't try to outsmart the market by buying at the lowest point if you're aiming for investment income. Sure, if you want to become a day-trader then you might be able to do this kind of playing the market after years of study and practice. But if you're in it for the long run, it doesn't matter whether you buy today, yesterday, or a year ago. Just don't wait until tomorrow Wink

5 years from now will not matter if you bought at $4000 or at $2000 or at $8000. All these numbers will look totally the same.

That's potentially 4x the return for the same outlay in USD if you time it right. That's what causes people to wait for bottoms that never come. Better to hedge your bets with averaging the cost where you can and extinguish the minor what ifs compared to not grabbing the big one by not buying at all.

I'm certain there'll be people who buy nothing because of that who'll screech about it down the line.

Exactly. That's why I'm buying now so I know I picked up some in the 3000s, no matter what happens in the future. I'll be buying a ton in January and February, and I'll continue buying some each month in the Spring. Cost average out the whole bottom of the market. I don't expect to get within a few hundred dollars with any of my buys, but what I am looking to do is buy a ton of Bitcoin hopefully averaging under 4000 or at least under 5000, which a month ago I didn't even think I'd ever be able to buy this low again.

Hoping for a certain low price to go all in is hoping to get lucky (that it goes that low and that it's near the bottom). No doubt plenty of people have low points to buy in that won't be hit and they'll miss the bottom entirely.

There's never a need to enter at one particular time. Better to pace your buys over a few weeks or months. My own willy is telling me Jan/Feb is when we might hit the gutter.

Obviously if you're a believer now is still an OK time since it's 80% down.

Probably a false statement but you can only go down $4k and the upward potential is $16k.
Buying on the way down might be a good approach instead of getting caught out whilst waiting.

uhhh the upward potential is many times that amount. $16k was the past. That's like telling someone in 2015 the upward potential is $900.

When you can put cash into bitcoin should be when you are ready to buy and hold until it showing significant progress. I believe that cryptocurrencies market has a very good return for those that are ready to put in good money for long term purposes. Remember that investments into cryptocurrencies market come with risk and you should not put in money without knowing how risky it is to invest now.

While you have cash to burn.. sure buy away.  Just remember not to sell if the price goes down, just buy more.   Don't go all in, spreading out your buys over a longer period of time, is the best advice.  Buy in small increments and average your price in.   It's impossible to time the bottom.

You never lose if you don't sell below your buy in price.

If Bitcoin stops trading and dies then you will have an unrecoverable loss...

What do you feel the chances are of your statement?

They like to stand around and be caught with their willies in their hands. While timing the bottom perfect might generate the most profit it's not the best strategy because it's impossible to predict accurately. Therefore timing well and spreading your buys means a good average cost and guarantees you actually buy some bitcoin before the next bull run begins.

"buying on the way down" is very misleading in my opinion. we have drops and then we have dumps. and both are the same "going down" but you should never buy during a drop (like when a bubble is bursting and price is dropping or some altcoin is getting dumped) while you can buy during a dump (like when price suddenly drops to weird prices like now out of nowhere and because of manipulation).

It is never a good time to go all in on any investment at any given time.

If you have some cash that is big enough to divide into couple pieces the smartest move would be investing only a part of it right now and watch what happens.

If a person invested all of his investments at 20 thousand dollars he would be so much in trouble right now however if he invested a bit at 20 and a bit at 10 and a bit at 6 he would have had some middle ground there and if that person kept investing at 6 and even continued to this day at 4 right now he would move so much further away from 20 thousand dollar times.

Hence, even if it looks like it is 4 thousand dollars and everything is going great, do not put all your money there all at the same time. Just invest a bit more and wait around, I think January is looking great.

You calculated it yourself. It is 5 times better to buy bitcoin as it was a year ago. No to mention that USD lost some value in last year.  Let me add this. Now and all 2019 will be perfect time to buy Bitcoin. 5 years from now will not matter if you bought at $4000 or at $2000 or at $8000. All these numbers will look totally the same.

It will matter as much as "a house", "a mansion" or "an estate"  Grin

This is personal
I'm not selling and am more confident in putting more into BTC now than ever.
It is nice to hear that from an Hero member, which gives me more confident.
Too many people are bearish since Bitcoin price went below 6000 USD.
I think that is good time to start buying, or if you want take more risk, start buying at 3000 USD and below if price drops to that level this year.
