Well.  Loads happening.  

1. Bitfinex ... such Mt.Gox ... pattern recon starts there.
2. I am doing a 180 on BTC, it could/should go x2-x5, straight up, hockey-stick.
3. The correction will be a holocaust ... maybe $400 ... likely $650.
4. Not sure on the accumulation check point ... I think several bounces in the $500-$900 channel.
5. Then 2-3 yr bullrun to the new old top ($5000).

So that's the pattern for 2017-2021, a repeat play of the last 3 major BTC-cycles.

'My personal opinion on this.
Segwit is a ticket to the show. All coins implementing and activating segwit will get a ticket.
The name of the show will be: Lightning Network, Tumblebit, Schnorr Signatures, Confidential Transactions, Cross-chain atomic swaps etc etc
It will take time to see those implementations ready for production though. Segwit is the enabler of possibilities (and is not a scaling solution as some people think, thats just a positive side affect for Bitcoin)

As far as a movement I think that all coins that dont implement Segwit will have 2 choices: die slowly or implement masternodes system to resist Segwit.
I expect lots of coins implementing either SegWit or Masternodes soon. Most PoW coins will choose for Segwit and most PoS coins will choose for the masternodes system.'

9-18months ... the exchanges get it ... and start structuring their own angle on each cherry ... there will be $, BTC, LTC, ETH, asset, etc. etc. driven markets ... so this is the first race.  Notice Polo winning big at the moment?  They are kicking the arses of the big boys who focused only on the BTC ... because they offer a range of ALTs they have likely captured ETH and BTC markets, this is forcing the lot of top end exchanges to reconsider their concepts ... Krakken has started to take on more ALTs ... Korea is betting big on ETH ... Japan starting to heat up, and China/HK/Singapore/NYC/LONDON still scratching their heads ... NZ is underDog with a bite ... Swiss are crafty likely to react in a smart manner ... Sweden in the game ... Russia will come in on a Wave ... and loads of DEX platforms shaping up.

24-48 months out ... maturity, establishment, conventions, and terra firma.

60-72 months out ... global Facebook level network effect ... your grandma gets/uses/trades Kitteh coins.

6-12 months out ... the Fiat empire tilts towards the exit ... for decent-digital ... our door opens.

In 2011, BTC 'arrived', 7 years later ALTs will have 'arrived'.  With greater mass and with greater momentum.  Another bubble is happening right now, it will pop, and we will be looking at 12-24 month bear cycle, the question is ... What's the Top?

Morning, B.N.  '36-72 months out'?  Interesting to see a time-frame. And how the (IoTa) gizmos fit in? Yeh, that's a valid point.

I think everyone will have their own currency.  Just as everyone has their own debt.  (which is bought/sold ... traded ... near everyday ... just a fact unknown / seen-not by the general public.)

We ain't there yet.  And we still have miles to go. (like 1ooos).

First things first ... numero UNO and DUO!

the C.W. has elected BTC the Ethhh and looks like LTC gets to be in the picture too!

after that the race is less clear ... I say the BIG10 or SWEET16 ... round about 20 big ticket coins ... the ICONz.

Then comes camps, divisions, sectors, regions, geo-specifics, and more.  Likely fairly liquid, and active trade, but still 36-72 months out from today.

Finally, once all the gizmoz and gadgets, of the internet of things, has us all tagged, tracked, traced, measured, and weighed ... then comes ... a coin for everyone.

Suppose there are a hundred families in a village. There’s a local vegie-delivery service: three guys who take turns doing the deliveries. The number of combinations of who would accept which currencies is simply insane. There aren’t enough hours in a day.

Conclusion: hobbyists and some crypto-trading specialists will choose to work with a wider range of cryptos; but over time, a solid core of established cryptos with talented devs will become the mainstays of global commerce.
