Oh, you are right. I only checked the activity which is just 1, so I concluded that the account was just opened for the purpose of deletion. But still, I wonder why the account that was opened in 2019 and remained in the Brand new status without a single post suddenly woke up from nowhere and the owner started looking for a way to delete the account. I mean the account that has not attracted value yet. I am just surprised with it. It has not shared information that could be of concern as well. Perhaps the OP had deleted them though.
only OP is the only one who can really answer that but if I am going to make an assumption, after looking at the OP's profile again, I guess the account's name coupled with what looks to be personal information that can be seen on her profile could be linked to her in real life. just to be clear, I could be completely wrong, I am just making an assumption.

Did you not consider that the OP could have created a nickname that connects him to other networks on the Internet, which could affect his privacy? Maybe he realized that his membership in a crypto forum could have a bad effect on his current life.
The OP has not been active for a long time; I think we can close the topic.

I know you opened a new account just for the purpose of trying to find the way to delete your account, that is what baffled me more, and not the fact that you want to delete the account per se. If you truly want to delete your forum account, why open another account to make it two? You could have just asked the question via the main account and that would have solved the issues.
the OP's account is not new, if you check the OP's profile you'll see that it was created in 2019. he just probably wants to delete the account here in the forum for privacy reasons(or other reasons). anyway, OP hasn't been online for 5 days now, he probably took one of the forum member's advice.

Since 2019 with only 1 post I guess he's profile get nuked on request.

I would like to delete my account. I checked the help section, which instructed me to go to my profile and click on 'Delete Account' under the "actions" section on the left. However, I am unable to locate both the "actions" and the "delete account" link

Well, if you must know, this question has come up over and over again, and if you had used Google to search the question in relation to Bitcointalk, you would have been furnished with answers instead of opening the thread.

As it is, I've never seen this deletion of an account possible. But also, next time, it is good that you add the reason(s) you want to delete the account, it might be weighed in and resolved amicably.

I don't know how others see it but putting people in the dark like this is just not fair in my opinion.

Correct. But OP can do both:

1. Contact the admins via PM to ask for account deletion, providing a reason. (Perhaps they will delete it, perhaps not).
2. Meanwhile, OP can forget about the account and continue with their life like bitcointalk doesn't exist.
I don't think that admins have time to check everyone's PM's and that's why sending a PM to an admin won't be helpful. If I'm not wrong then admins might have disabled receiving PM's from newbie rank members thus it won't be possible for him to send any PM to admins.

So I guess the 2nd option is going to work for the OP. He should forget about the account and change his e-mail addresses so he will believe that he's no longer present on Bitcointalk and then he can continue to do whatever he likes in his life.

Only admin can delete the accounts but I don't think that admin has enough time to delete accounts of the users who create accounts and ask others that how to delete the account.

You can't remove your account on Bitcoin but if you really want to do it then go and change your account's e-mail address and completely forget about this account.

That's the only way to delete an account otherwise you can't really delete an account on this forum. You can create a fresh e-mail for that purpose and then completely ignore that e-mail. I won't suggest you to use temp mails as those can be reused by others.

Only admin can delete the accounts but I don't think that admin has enough time to delete accounts of the users who create accounts and ask others that how to delete the account.

I would like to delete my account.
there is an alternative, but your account will only get banned/locked not deleted. if you are curious, Xal0lex(one of the forum staff) created a tutorial on how to ban your account yourself. If you want to do that, I quoted the tutorial below, you'll just have to follow it.

Lol, anyways.
I can't even self ban myself by doing a simple reset by secret question, tried it a few times, didn't work.

Everything's working fine. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it, from start to finish.

Go to your profile, click on "Account Related Settings" and there you will find the item "Secret Question". Next, enter your question (1), the answer (2), your current password (3) and click "Change profile". That's it, the secret question is set.

Then you log out of your profile and are going to log into the forum again. On the forum login page, click the "Forgot your password?". On the "Password reminder" page, enter your username and check the "Ask me my question" box and click the "Send" button.

Next, here you enter the correct answer to the secret question you set (1), a new password (2) and again a new password for confirmation (3) and click the "Save" button. Yes, you can enter whatever password you want. You won't need it anymore anyway.

Congratulations, you have banned yourself Smiley

Whatsoever reason that has promoted your wanting to do delete your account is best known to you but I'm sure after checking the section where you could get help and was told what to do already you should have understood by now that abandoning the account is all you can do because deleting isn't possible at this time on the forum, but until it becomes a feature that's applicable on the forum you may just have to abandon it for now and probably forget your password or something else just find a way to leave the account.

But it's not a good practice to create an account and after a while you want to close, it would have been better you didn't create one so you don't add to the numbers of abandoned account that are already existing.

I don't think I've heard that there's ever an option in the profile section that allows users to delete their accounts, because for what I know, there's none. You can delete your bitcointalk account.

I really dont know what your reasons are for wishing to delete your bitcointalk account but you can't, so the best you can do for yourself is to change your email, I believe you can do that one, so go ahead and change your email and abandon the account.

OP is actually right in wondering where the option to delete the account resides, since the Help-> Profile section does state the following:

Quote
<…> Delete this account does exactly what it says! Yes, there's a confirmation screen, but it really does delete your own account, so be careful... <…>
(there’s another reference too on the same Help page, but not very clear, and looks more like Admin intended).

The option to delete one’s own account is a feature available in SMF (the forum’s base software), but is not enabled on Bitcointalk, and by the looks of it likely never has been.

If the OP has a valid dire reason, and contact the Admin, the account could perhaps be anonymized, though I’m not sure if that’s really a thing as of late. Other than that, resorting to deleting all posts (not all are necessarily deletable) is the next best thing, though as said, there are archived versions of posts on publicly accessible websites.

I never thought at all about the delete account feature. (or maybe I don't remember). So I just found out that in this forum we can't delete our account (perhaps, if I remember correctly).
And about those of you who want to delete your account, maybe you can just delete all your posts and leave and forget about it. But I'm not sure deleting the post will help. Because I heard that our posts also remain in the archives and can still be seen on certain sites. Because I once saw in the reputation section about someone attaching a post that had been deleted in the form of an archive or something. Maybe someone who knows more about this can answer it. I've only seen it and haven't studied it further because I think it's something I need to know.

You don't need to delete your account but if you want to abandon your account then you can change the password randomly so that you cannot access the account anymore. That way, it is almost the same as deleting your account without deleting it. Anyway, if you don't mind me asking why do you want to delete your account. Some account that isn't low rank but a high rank want to delete their account and what they do is change the password in anything or very random.

I think that randomly changing the account passwords and abandoning it as you said can be as good as deleting it, so even if it's because the password has been compromised, changing the password will make it impossible for another person to access it. If the OP has shared the reason for wanting to delete the account, perhaps he should have gotten help if the reason is not a tangible one, but we have to respect his privacy.

I think this is your first post that you are doing from your same account that you want to delete the same account but I want to ask the question because it is your first post that you have created an account. You posted this to delete an account means you created an account to delete an account and posted how do I delete it is It's surprising that I didn't see any other post like this from you, but it's your own choice, why you created your account and then why are you deleting it, it's your own opinion.

But I don't think you will get any option in Bitcoin talk like you can delete your account as it is, but you can do it if you have sent this message to delete or you can ignore this account and create other if you need it in future.

From all the answers they have answered from the seniors above, it seems that the Bitcointalk account cannot be deleted.

If I may ask, why do you want to delete your account?
Are you starting to get frustrated with this forum?

If true. Be patient friends, we all need a process. I have also been registering for several months, until now there is still a lot that I don't understand... what I always remember from the advice of the brothers here is that nothing is instant.

Or do you want to delete your Bitcointalk account because you want to change your username?
In my opinion, the username here doesn't really matter because everything here is anonymous, even many usernames are unique. My suggestion is to remove your intention to delete your Bitcointalk account.

There are many topics like this before Op, aso you can not delete your own account perhaps you can request to for banned but I don't know if administrator will agree with your reason. Anyways don't bothered your self Op this account is still newbie why not you abandon this account and create a new one if you don't like this account anymore? Don't make your self hard make it easy. Anyways you ask this question maybe you have a good reason for this but what other said above you are wasting your time to find the  delete button.

You can not delete your account.

Abandon it if you don't want to use it.
You can go to profile page, Account related settings, click on secret question, it will trigger an account lock, then you can abandon it without fear that someone will hack your account.

PSA: ACCOUNTS WILL BE LOCKED IF THE SECRET QUESTION IS USED TO RECOVER IT

It makes no sense to delete a newbie account with no activity so I’m assuming the account you want to delete is not this one. It’s impossible to delete an account by yourself, you will have to pm Theymos for that or you can simply delete all your posts and quietly leave the forum.

You said you search the forum for help, well this topic has been discussed before.
