Fake money is used in demo account.  And the demo account is basically a place for a newbie to learn  about trading. This is a good place for newbies to learn trading practically and start trading business with real money in real account. However, there is no connection between the demo account and the real account.  However, the rules for trading in a real account and demo account are the same

I don't see how the rules for trading a real account and demo account are the same because you already saying demo account is fake money and that is correct in the sense that you can't withdraw it. But whether the demo and real account are the same is only on the fact that the technicality like the strategy, indicators but the emotions are not because as a newbie there are panic and fear when trading real account.
When one trades on a demo account he follows all the same rules as when training on a real account with real money.  The only difference here is that demo account money you can never withdraw or use for personal work and demo account money will only give you a trading fun but you can't convert it into real money no matter how much you gain from training.  But if you trade with real money then the profit loss will depend on you and you can convert the profit money to fiat money whenever you want and spend it in your personal life. That's the difference between demo account and real account.

Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹
When I started learning how to trade the Forex, I was introduced to meta4 and I was using a demo account and was able to fund any amount I wanted. I was made to believe that the only difference between a demo account and a real account is that the money in the real account can be withdrawn while the money in the demo account cannot be withdrawn. With this mindset I gave my all by learning with the demo account.

Tbh with you, when I entered into the real market the experience was something that is quite different from what I witnessed in the demo account. That was when I concluded that the essence of demo account is to make you master the interface of the trading platform the tools and the user-friendliness of it and not to turn you into an expert.

There are many factors that were not considered in the demo account which you will see in the life account as mentioned by Ratimov above.

Of course, the feeling when trading with money on a demo account and real money will be different. this puts pressure on traders when trading on their real accounts. especially beginners who panic very easily when they see the value of the asset they are trading has decreased.
we can use a demo account to get to know better the exchange we use. available features and there may be differences. although I'm sure almost all exchanges have similar features.
In demo, you do have the unlimited funds which on the time that you had deplete out your balance because of losing trades then you would be easily be able to replenish it and this is what makes you really that

too confident or simply it doesnt really involved any stress or thrill when doing trades since you do know that you cant lose on this way.Unlike when you are making use of your own money then it would be an another story which people would really be on their serious state and being that too mindful in regarding into their actions that they would be making of.
Demo account is only good for familiarizing but not something that you could really make your emotions a bit better but rather the opposite.

In my topic, I mention that demo trading is only needed to understand the principles of trading itself and the principles of the trading platform, in all other cases a demo account is absolutely useless.
I think it is still possible to understand all the aspects of trading even without using demo trades but after it, we will still practice what we have learned. This is where the importance of demo trading comes.

Instead of practicing trading for real and risking losing your money, why not use a demo trade and not incur any losses in the process? Just treat demo trading like you are trading for real, so that your trades will also look legit because you will feel all the emotions and they can contribute to your trades. Sorry, but I disagree about you when you say that demo trading is useless. Many traders are still benefiting with them and they are thankful that such thing exist.

Those demo accounts are actually for practicing the trading and learning about the platform to be more comfortable. You can also try different kind of strategies with it. And yeah, you are right. When trading with demo accounts, people has nothing to worry about because they actually can't lose any money trading. Hence they can to do some high risk trading strategies that can help them be more confident when executing those trades with their real account. Demo account also helps you understand the market better. So I don't actually see what's wrong to relate it with a real account.

might take the bold step of funding a real account with now a changed psychology and totally different mindset and emotions, yet still make great losses when trading real accounts
You said it well, OP. It's the reality of the psychology involved that gets to people, either to mess them up (real account) or to make them relaxed and nonchalant (demo account). Otherwise, both demo and real account are the same in trading dynamics. It's because we tend to be more careful and involved when we trade real account than we are with demo that often make us involve our emotions and make them amok during trading. For anyone to be successful trading, they've to put a check on their emotions.

~why can't we relate demo accounts to real accounts
~why do you think people still start making losses on real accounts after long time trading demo successfully

The whole reason and difference that we can't relate real account and demo account is emotions because you are likely to close a losing market that is losing but you don't do so with demo. If it is losing in demo you allow it to run. So if you close it in real account, you have lost the money. Apart from people increase leverage in real account, real life is emotionally attached because it is your money and you don't wish for it to lose.

The reason why traders have different accounts is that with the win rate ratio, some of them want to have a good winning ratio so they can manage easily getting consistent, I do the same thing right now but before I have just a single account and that account is good for demo trading, short and long term trading which is I see the current situation is quite bad and I attended some of the trading concepts that its good too have a different trading account which is giving you a good motivation to trade if you see your portfolio activities and organized not unlike just committing a trade and win without a proper trace of it.

the demo account in the trading platform aims to give you experience. such as getting to know the features and practicing the analytical skills you have.
when you get profit on the demo account, it's been strived by the exchange to provide a good experience for new users who try.
if you lose trying, will you continue your real game? it's like a way to coax you into real trading. if you are still at a loss, of course, that means the skills you have are not good.

when they feel or think they're good with trading on a virtual account, might take the bold step of funding a real account with now a changed psychology and totally different mindset and emotions, yet still make great losses when trading real accounts
This is an usual complaint about demo accounts, but when you are not ready to comply with the reality of switch over then you may not be fit for the process of trading environments. I mean even in real market conditions, your emotions need to work differently for different days; I mean there cannot be same set of mental capability for trading all the days across years hence applications of demo accounts cannot be ignore just because of failing in emotional switch over.

why do you think people still start making losses on real accounts after long time trading demo successfully
You need to accept the real facts of trading environment that you might be facing losses in the demo mode and even experienced traders in real trading must be facing losses the time to time. So, losses in real accounts in beginning days is inevitable; you must keep your capital low and should be keen on learning lessons out of own experiences.

My point is not to use a demo account to practice trading, the simple reason as everyone has mentioned is trading psychology. When you use a demo account, you know it's a simulation account and you won't mind trading, which means you are free to place orders without fear of loss. That will create bad habits for you and then you start with a real account and continue to trade as liberally as you do on a demo account, and you will soon lose money. Instead of trading on a demo account, trade with a real account with the smallest amount of capital.

The psychology between virtual and real currency trading will be different because we face different situations from those in simulations. A demo account is a way to learn to trade with virtual currency so you don't lose. If you can take lessons from using a demo account and keep practicing, you can trade on a real account just as well and be profitable.

Demo accounts are not the same as real accounts in that the exchange provides them as a learning tool for beginners. If those people still lose money on a real account, it's probably because they can't tell the difference between the situations and conditions.

Trading is not an abstract process in the sense that it is not a mathematical process like multiplication and division, so market psychology, risk assessment and how to manage assets is what determines whether you will achieve losses or not.

  • Psychological factors still control the market. Losing money can trigger feelings of fear and anxiety. This fear and anxiety will make you make incorrect decisions.
  • If these Demo trading accounts are linked to reality, you will achieve the same losses unless you know how to manage your feelings.

I agree with this. I am not using demo at all, but I have a friend that has no money to trade few months ago and use demo to take just $500 to $45000 in just one week, that fake profit is huge, but when he has money, he is only making few profit and he has never yet gotten to that amount, he was even broke from trading and he has not even gotten close that that profit before in real trading. He told me one thing, that in demo, when he is gaining, he still leave the fake fund profit and money grows to bigger amount, but in real trading which is with real money, emotion set, if he has won little, he close the position he opened. You are right, demo has different function for what many people are using it for.

I wrote about this a long time ago in my thread why demo accounts are useless for beginners: Is a demo account necessary for a beginner trader?
Demo account is not useless, as the name denote and according to dictionary, demo means a demonstration of a product or technique. Although, in trading, it is better to practice with small amount of money like $10 to $15 with a less volatile market.

Demo is to test how trading works. After you check that, you can use small money to practice, while increasing it after some months if the profit is getting bigger and much more than the loss.

I remember when I saw an IQ option trading online, I downloaded an app for it, tried the demo and I lost all the whole fake money given me and I did not bother to use money to trade at that time. In crypto, no even better deme when I started, I just use video guides that the exchanges provided and I used small amount of money instead of demo, but I can easily first just start with demo and use it for like 30 minutes to see how the trading works and move to use small amount of money.

I too do not see demo to be necessary, but not useless to be seen to demonstrate how trading works, but I wonder why people turn to it as a means to help during trading, which is not, small amount of money should be used for that, not demo, but demo can be used for testing how trading works.

Now my question is
~why can't we relate demo accounts to real accounts
~why do you think people still start making losses on real accounts after long time trading demo successfully
1. Because there are a lot of changes when you start trading on real accounts, the orders, buy walls, sell walls are all real now compared to demo accounts. You still can't guarantee it here.
And also, even if you are in demo accounts, you still can't always do 100%.
2. It's part of the trading, you will lose sometimes. That's why some people are using real accounts to practice so they are more aware but this is risky though.

Also with proper risk management, it will help you especially in real accounts because you know that it's really so you need to preserve your capital.

~why can't we relate demo accounts to real accounts

Relate in terms of what? Thinking if we are able to make profits in the demo accounts, is supposed to happen the same in real accounts?

Demo accounts just give the users what to expect when trading now goes live.

~why do you think people still start making losses on real accounts after long time trading demo successfully

Because in a demo account, no real money is at risk. Therefore, no pressure for users to save their balance from being busted.

Since no pressure, no seriousness at all, and every strategy will do since even on a loss, no bearing for users.

The time these people will now face the actual risks in real trades, they think that things are just that easy to achieve.
