Clarifications
  • Age is measured from date of birth. All categories are inclusive.
  • Please enter your gender at birth if you cannot classify yourself as male or female.
  • If you have more than one account, please vote with only one account.
  • Please vote as soon as you see this thread, so as to avoid bias in people crossing age boundaries.
Thanks for shunting everyone onto the gender binary. Not everyone identifies as 100% male or female.
I did try to avoid this.
Don't stress about the trolls. If they can't read, it's not your fault.

some people are born bi-gender though.

Please enter your gender at birth if you cannot classify yourself as male or female.

That will cover almost everyone.

If you can not classify yourself as male or female, you do not know your gender at birth. Perhaps dree12 wants people's assigned gender at birth.

Spam-bots were mentioned: Truly autonomous software agents are likely to be genderless as well (and be in the 0-9 year category)

The 95% male demographic is unfortunately very typical of a lot of open source projects.

But still on the forum
Time to attract ladies to the meta board XD

We have our first voter who has not reached the age of ten yet. Together with the middle school, high school, and university students in the teens, Bitcoin is turning out to be a very young community.

Yes, the middle school students...

A few months passed reposts to modify the data

I don't understand what you mean by this.

Aka I want more people to vote in the darn poll and change the demographic XD
Who knows maybe it changes monthly  Cool

That or this poll proves that we are almost guaranteed 4 out of 10 times to have people 20-29 go to the meta page on this forum and vote on polls XD
+- % based on number and in other factors usual error range based on poll sample size

Besides it makes more sense to keep a poll updated than making a new one to get a larger sample over time

Interesting results. Thought it'd be less male-dominant.

There's something wrong with the voting results because I can clearly remember 3 days ago there were 7 votes for "Female, 80+".

I purged them as it seemed extremely unlikely. No other results were affected.

For users with more than 4 posts who filled out this info in their profiles:

1,660 Male
65 Female
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=stats

This says ratio 2.9:1.

Is that because it includes also members with less than 4 posts?

It's because a lot of people didn't submit this kind of info - you included Smiley
What I don't understand is how jgarzik's ratio and the ratio I found on that stats-page can be different when the data source is seemingly the same.
Most of the "females" on this board are zero-post spambots, which register with a 1:1 sex ratio. See this page and all subsequent pages for the zero-post spambots.
Ok, right, as I guessed.
