seems legit
Unfortunately, there's no statistically accurate way of removing this inaccuracy. The only thing I can suggest is to ignore categories under 5% for now.

We have our first voter who has not reached the age of ten yet. Together with the middle school, high school, and university students in the teens, Bitcoin is turning out to be a very young community.

The GEN-Ys are coming in now - Male, 20–29    - 39 (41.5%)

Clarifications
  • Age is measured from date of birth. All categories are inclusive.
  • Please enter your gender at birth if you cannot classify yourself as male or female.
  • If you have more than one account, please vote with only one account.
  • Please vote as soon as you see this thread, so as to avoid bias in people crossing age boundaries.
Thanks for shunting everyone onto the gender binary. Not everyone identifies as 100% male or female.
I did try to avoid this.
Don't stress about the trolls. If they can't read, it's not your fault.

80+ female? I doubt that  Tongue
Remember that the sample size is still small, so 1.6% is meaningless (try rounding to the nearest 5% for more accurate results). The group of males in their twenties seems dominant at the moment, supporting the hypothesis that this is a young male-dominant community.

Interesting that so far, the ratio of males to females is 11:1. This is much more male-dominant than I expected, and much higher than the forum stats page would suggest.

Google Translate doesn't produce spelling errors (it does produce weird ways of expressing things, however). Posts like these indicate not foreignness to the English language, but rather incapability to properly convey English with proper orthography.

Not knowing a language proficiently does not translate to not knowing it at all. Only people who barely know a language will use Google Translate to communicate in it (unless they are oblivious to errors it is prone to make).

I think the posts' quotes you posted actually do indicate foreignness to the English language Smiley

At least two users here look like non-native English speakers to me:

Huesos - that's a Spanish sounding nickname, 'huesos' means 'bones'
and
tomaszsz - 'Tomasz' is a Polish equivalent of 'Thomas'

(and, to be honest, the frequency of speeling erors on this forum do indicate a younger population).

I wouldn't say so. English language is the mother tongue of maybe half of Bitcoin users.

because there is not clear information abour newbies restrinction, i thing it shoul be some information on first page

Well for me I think Solo mining would make sense.Think about it at the time of this writing 1 BTC goes around 13.40 give or take.If you wait long enough to break a block(depending on what hardware you have) you'll eventually get 50 BTC which when multiplied to the current rate would be 670 USD. Now if you factor in how much 1 BTC will be valued by the time you break a block you'll get alot more than that because as we know bitcoin prices can get pretty high. But you also have to factor in alot of other variables such as the cost of the rig(Unless you happen to have one already) Electricity(Unless you don't pay it) and time(unless you don't have shit to do.

Yes, but this one includes gender, and, for some reason, a 0-9 category.
People on the upper end of that category likely have the ability to utilize BitcoinTalk (and, to be honest, the frequency of speeling erors on this forum do indicate a younger population).

Nonetheless, my real reason for including the 0-9 category is to make a population pyramid.

I was wondering if the Bitcoin community tends to be male-dominant and young, especially with many memes that poke fun at elderly women, of which likely few use Bitcoin. Since I think this community is a large sample of Bitcoin users, I'm starting a poll. Unless forum admins are snooping, this is fully anonymous, so please be honest!
