Sorry for my opinion, but your logo kinda sucks. The current Bitcoin logo is awesome. Why should we have to change it?
I don't like yellow and light orange, the logo looks too oversimplified and I don't understand why the Bitcoin symbol isn't straight. It seems to me that you don't have enough experience with logo design. What software and tools are you currently using?Keep practicing and you will get better.
This logo isn't "futureproof" or "wide-adoption".You can't boost the adoption of Bitcoin by simply changing the Bitcoin logo. Grin

I insist it could.
the bitcoin impression at first sight is just not what existing payment systems give you.
it's just not friendly enough to the rest of the world.
also - what does the software has to do with it?
is it because I mentioned I'm a zoomer  Embarrassed ?

I cant find big difirencec between default logo and this one. Why we should use your picture?

Because he wants to see himself as the "designer". It's something as trivial as color but it makes it his design and he can add Bitcoin logo to his portfolio, even though hich "change" could have been done in mspaint by a 10 year old. Usually if we change something it's meant to bring some benefits but is there really an improvement here? OP said it's going to look more modern. Really? You can use any background you want with the BTC sign without having to tag it with your name.

Never though of it this way, just wanted to help the community.
I though simplification would not make BTC look confusing to the average user at first sight.
Something "friendly".
It was just an experiment tweaking the bitboy design - I said it's not a big difference.
2020 was a year with plenty of economic change - why not USE THAT?
but if my logo is unwelcome in the eyes of the community - I'm fine with that.

The Bitcoin logo you presented is quite good. It matches with all the different companies that have updated their current logo like Dunkin Donuts, Uber, Mail Chimp, Toys R Us, etc. It's a little bit too late though, most of them happened 2018 [1]. But no matter, it's still the same.

Logos are essential to the people just because it immediately recognizes what it is, and Bitcoin's logo is okay. I think you are free to use any logo you want as long as it's Bitcoin, right? What matters is that it's accessible and is supported by people all around the world.

Bitcoin's current logos are already great, there's no need to fix what isn't broken. I never saw anyone complain about them. Maybe some people will use the logo you designed for some purposes, tough generally it's rare to see any sort of non-standard logos, since they are meant to be recognizable.

Also, how can you make a futureproof logo? You can't know what design styles will be popular in the future, maybe the current logo is already future proof?

No God or Kings, only BITCOIN.
Just leave it as an iconic one just as you said but where did you find and survey people that it's too techno, unfriendly and complicated, anything that could back up your statements? I love the initiative you made but even if surveyed whole forum I am positive they'll still love the design that still right now deemed as a classic one.

We don't need another logo for bitcoin because the current one is perfect. It is simple, representative and has been deeply engraved in our mind.

I am sorry if I am make you disappointed but no need for another Bitcoin logo. There is no need for Bitcoin forks, none of them.

the double line though the B is bitcoin
single line is the thai baht

we dealt with this years ago to not try getting close to the thai baht symbol as it would cause more confusion
the current BTC is good enough

if anything could be developed.. people thought about the sub unit of bits(100 sats) having its own custom symbol
for instance
Ъ or Ҍ

I agree that a logo should get updated once in a while, but I don't think designing a 'future proof' logo is possible. Your options look nice, but I don't like that they don't have these serifs or how to call them on the letter B at the top and at the bottom. You cannot change the basics, Bitcoin symbol without serifs is very unlikely to become widely recognized and accepted. I believe that logos tend to preserve the basis even when they do change. And to be honest, I'm not sure Bitcoin needs a cool logo because it's not a company. The $ symbol doesn't change with time, and perhaps neither should BTC.

owned up to the honest criticism. thank you!

That's better! But if we're being precise, Bitcoin actually has double serifs at the top and at the bottom, and changing that to one serif thing is also quite a serious change. And it makes it look more like dollar, I suppose.

I do not think this is the right time to update the logo. I think it would be too early to make any changes. It has only been a decade and it should take another to properly make every single human being living on earth to understand and adopt Bitcoin.

Changing the logo now will simply mean changing its identity and existence. We should wait for few more years before coming out with a new one.

Bitcoin resemble power and control for everyone we should first try to promote the cause, rather thinking about the symbol.
I think that changing the basic symbol (₿) is probably a bad idea. It should be a 'B' with double serifs at the top and at the bottom. This is what makes Bitcoin recognizable. However, playing with the font, color and background is nothing bad. Perhaps a more appealing logo could indeed attract new users, especially the younger generation. Not changing things is something zoomers might have a problem with. They are accustomed to fast-changing images in a fast-changing world, so taking this into account is also important. The dollar symbol never changes, but while dollar represents tradition and conservation, Bitcoin represents innovation.

I am open to changes if there is a need for it and if the change can really be making a big difference. We should not be changing anything just for the sake of change itself but there must be big and rational reasons behind it. As far as Bitcoin is concern, I don't think we have any problem with the existing symbol, hence I am not seeing any urgent need to change it anytime. Maybe 10 years from now, the symbol can be ready for some overhaul but not now. I still have to hear anybody saying NO to Bitcoin based on its symbol. However, I do appreciate your effort and concern.

Officially, no. Your designs could very well be used by merchants who wish to, but the original logo should remain as is.

There is an unicode character for BTC, its . It took nearly a decade to appear, changing it is not an option. This is exactly like the dollar symbol $, there are countless styles out there, but its officially the same. Same as £, €, ¥, etc...

welp, there's a similiar unicode to my symbol, Thai baht ฿.
also - is used only by the community.
nobody else uses it, it's still not a popular unicode, not like $, or €.
the bitcoin logo started as BC by nakamoto in 2009, evolution happened, things changed.
the dollar used to be the spanish dollar - besides, bitcoin is digital.
it's been 10 years since the last design. 10 YEARS. its 2020.
my point - simplifying and adapting is the path to adoption.
really, the community would only benefit from a minimal change like this.

I appreciate your initiative, but my opinion is that we should stick with the original one. We don't want to make many changes because that could end up looking like a fork or something.
Moreover people generally are looking for stability and not for change. It is already hard enough to make the conservators use cryptocurrencies.

I believe you pointed out something very important -
the conservators you mentioned are most people on this planet.
BTC is a movement, but it should scale up, every movement wants to scale.
the only way to do so is making BTC friendly.
as much as I love BTC lets face it - it intimidates the average user.
this logo is just friendlier. friendlier stickers, friendlier glyphs.
small details matter. the internet was intimidating at first.
pay attention - the internet made it because things began to be less scary.
at first browsers became simpler to the average user - then google made it simpler.
same goes for PCs. that's the tech curve. NOT JUST TECH - TRUST.
Ive seen so many jokes and skits about people not knowing what BTC is and thats unfortunate.
I fear we would not make great leaps for bitcoin unless we create a friendlier impression.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk

What is the fundamental difference in the logo? It is the same idea with a change in color and omission in the figure

well it's not a night and day difference, but its smoother and little simplified,
it follows a more modern graphic approach - and while this is not a huge change,
in the long term I believe it could set a great first impression for user adoption,
remember - we want this logo slapped on merchant - websites - apps.
it needs to look friendly..

In fact, the Bitcoin logo was not the same in the early days. Several years ago, Bitcoin was not BTC, BC check this ----> https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Original_Bitcoin_client

Doing the update will not change much unless the community adopts it.
