Why is it, then, that they have honored all refund requests, including giving an opportunity for a full refund to everyone? That's what the latest agreement was, after all. A chance to get a refund given the changes in the product specs (i.e. power, size, etc.)

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely understand the skepticism, but this company really is doing what they said they would, they were just really far off on all of their time and spec estimates. As I said in my first post in this thread, they're just an immature company; they don't have the experience or size to really make this process go smoothly.

im so happy i bought a couple of gpus instead of bfl last year. been jumping around on all the alt coins and pretty much have made more than those bfls (remember you cant mine the more profitable alt coins on them) will make in their lifetime, and i still have gpus with a nice resale value Grin

as we say around here i got it in both shoppingbag and in the good old sack.

Oh there's plenty of math you can do on it, you just have to look for well reasoned speculation on how long it will take for given hashing power to ship. As for how long until you get your order from BFL, I think their estimates are probably about a half a month off at most given their recent track record of accomplishments.

We cannot do any math, cos they dont know when they would ship if I order now. They dont even know when will they ship first orders of SC. So, at this point, I love more GPU mining or maybe auction for 1 ASIC blade if there will be one more. I know 50BTC is big price for 10GHs, but when u get it now, it is far better than 50GHs in novembre

. So I decided not to order anything from BFL, didnt have BTC to buy Avalon batch 3 that day they announced... Where is blade auction now (missed last one was so close to have enough BTC, but didnt have them).

Even at a difficulty of 1 bn. these units will remain profitable in terms of bitcoin costs, unless the price of bitcoins absolutely crashes (in which case electricity costs will eat up all the profits in bitcoins, since electricity is still priced in bitcoins.)

The problem is really just returning your fixed costs of investment into the units themselves and any power supplies, surge protectors, etc. you pull together for this purpose alone. Determining your desired payoff date given a certain shift in difficulty is really what will determine whether or not it's a good investment for you at this point, especially because it is clear that the company is shipping units and will be honorable about fulfilling the orders (even if they're later than hoped for or expected.)

I would suggest doing some calculations on that front in order to see how long it will take you to make back your investments and whether or not that is an acceptable timeframe for you. Do some research on difficulty projections, and even throw in a higher rate of difficulty increases just to see where your comfort zones lie with regards to the investment.

From the difficulty projection numbers iv seen...

By July we will be in the 70-90 difficulty area. The 50ghs model that would produce almost 10K usd today will produce 1K usd and progressively less every month after. Not worth it for me. Canceled my order and stuck the money into more GPU rigs for litecoin. But by all means, keep at that bitcoin and leave our low difficulty alone Wink

As i said previously. The price increase was most likely due to them getting prepped to started shipping out batches.

With my high order number, i would suspect that i would get my unit within the year.

A single Jalapeno isn't going to make anyone rich unless your the single miner(the current asic miners on the framework already cuts a single jalapeno's profits).

5GH/s is nothing compared to what the network is producing.

I just want a unit to have low power consumption that gives me a better rate than a quad GPU setup.

No one can tell you what will happen because they simply don't know. Anyone who does is full of it. It's been an intensely unpredictable market so far and I don't see that changing.

Based on my assumptions (which hold no value or weight), worst case scenario i WILL see payback in 6 months time. Best case scenario? I make a shit ton of bitCoin before the market is entirely flooded with asic. People think its crazy now... wait until BFL ships.. and is a proven technology caught up with the backlogs.
