So what would receiving an award/price for Digusign mean for the value of Digibyte the coin. The two have nothing in common. One ois a way of sending data on the blockchain, the other is a sort of attention token or whatever you want to call it. They pitched Digusign.

Who can tell me where, other than speculation, would the value for DGB come from? Or is DGB just what stock is for normal companies. Cash cow to keep development for blockchain services going?HuhHuhHuh?

Isn't DGB what XRP is for the Ripple Network....--> as in the network/blockchain is handy (the services on top of it), but they coin itself is rather useless. Banks can drop XRP and use the Ripple network as can companies drop DGB and use Digusign...the two are not tied to each other like for example waves on the waves platform

digusign service is not free, people who use digusign need to pay service 0.5-2 dgb/tx (Depending on the developer policy). when company is using it mean they need to buy digibyte for payment. it is not only company, goverment for ID, healthcare recording, financial service, insurance, real esatates and many others use digusign as smartcontract. can you image how big impact from application digusign in the world for digibytecoin? 21billion coin is not enought to cover this service. we know only one-third of it is on the market, and mostly held by traders

Smart contract use cases in industry and country (remember country)

Here is the Brian Kelly video where he mentions Digibyte for a split second on CNBC Fast Money.

Well as far as i know,
- DGB offers fast transaction comparing to bitcoin, your transaction confirmed in seconds with low fee. You should try and see it your self. It also reach VISA / Master combined transaction speed in the future.
- With the projection ideal price $1-$5 for 1 DGB. It's more easy to say to your friend,  hey send me 1 DGB, instead send me 0.0002819 BTC.
- Segwit.

There would be more others that i don't know.
EDIT: See and read this for better understanding about the value of DGB:

You should add "http://" in front off your localhost address.

I have just tried exactly "cgminer --skein -o http://127.0.0.1:14022 -u digiuser -p digipass --verbose"

it does not work:

I got a PM asking about how to solo mine . . .

The abridged, super simplified, solo mining HOWTO Wink

This assumes you already have your rig built, and OS and miner installed and configured.

Solo mining, single rig

ONLY 3 THINGS TO DO:

  • set up your wallet config file
  • set up your wallet to run as a server
  • set up your miner batch file to point to your wallet

Wallet config file key items: everything, but there are less than 20 lines

Cut and paste what's posted here into your digibyte.conf file inside the same directory/folder where your wallet is found:

Code:
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcuser=yourusername
rpcpassword=yourpassword
server=1
daemon=1
txindex=1
debug=1
algo=scrypt
rpcport=14022
port=12024
addnode=216.250.125.121
addnode=74.208.230.160
addnode=69.164.206.169
addnode=192.99.215.234
addnode=96.126.114.208
addnode=54.204.36.33
addnode=192.99.41.108
addnode=199.83.128.91
addnode=199.83.132.91

Change the rpcuser and rpcpassword to something of your choosing

Save it as digibyte.conf

Create a shortcut of your DigiByte wallet, right click, click properties append --server to the end of the TARGET line
(Example: C:\Users\User\Wallets\DigiByte\digibyte-qt.exe --server)
Save it and run your DigiByte Wallet as a server using that newly created shortcut.

One other thing, don't forget to modify the algo line with the algorithm you're using.
Code:
algo=scrypt
algo=sha256d
algo=groestl
algo=qubit
algo=skein

Setup your bat/script startup file by SIMPLY CHANGING 3 THINGS: your -o -u and -p switches (everything else stays the same)

-o 127.0.0.1:14022
-u the user name that you gave to rpcuser in your digibyte.conf file
-p the password that you gave to rpcpassword in your digibyte.conf file

Save and run. You're now mining solo.

Multiple Rig Setups

All the same as above, except you need to:

Change the 127.0.0.1 in the rpcallowip line in your digibyte.conf file to the IP of your server wallet machine or of your subnet, (for example to 192.168.0.* or 192.168.1.* which are the most common - you could go with 192.168.*.* when in doubt)

If necessary, create any necessary firewall exceptions on your server wallet machine and/or router.

Change the -o switch in your bat/script startup file to the IP of your server wallet machine, followed by a colon, and the rpcport number used (for example 192.168.0.30:17772 )

And you're off and running, now solo mining using various miners together.  Grin

It's easy as 1-2-3. Good luck, and good mining!

i am confident that there will be the same hype culture prior to the next citi bank event when really it is not relevant but speculative traders make up a large portion of bag holders. I wonder if hypothetically we drop below 1000 or 800 or even 500, prior to next month if it is wise to capitilize on the low prices and re purchase to profit on the upswing just like everyone else or just wait it out. and since this hype activity obviously plays a major role in affecting DGB, if they lose this silly contest again will there be enough confidence lost to impact the long termers? how bad a beating can the digi take

Are you talking about the overall prize for the Citi challenge?  As much as I hope they can pull something out of the bag, to win one of just 4 or 5? prizes (let alone the main prize) out of a total of 1,000 entrants would be a bit of a moon shot. Personally, I'd be happy if they establish some kind of working relationship with one of the partner companies, and frankly over the moon if they managed to secure a prize. The price today was driven by pure speculation (as predicted).

Not that token value is everything, but the price on DigiByte has always bounced back, and that's mainly thanks to the tireless Dev team who come up with interesting and innovative ways to promote the technology. I'm possibly one of the few (or maybe not) early holders who actively trades rather than just holding and follow the very traditional policy of buying in stages on the way down, selling in stages on the way up. It doesn't get you rich quick, but over time you build up a nice hoard.

Even despite the event today, I'm surprised DBG's volume has held up on Polo, over 37k BTC. Since the trollbox closed volume has been way down across the board, even ETH is only @ 14k BTC today. Ripple barely over 10k.

I would expect Polo to take quick massive action on their support issue so they can get the trollbox open again without being flamed about their crappy support every 2 lines. In the meantime, I'm sure the other exchanges are taking notice of that volume. Wouldn't be surprised to see one of them add DigiByte in the next month or so.

Are people seriously selling because Digibyte did not win? The win was to get to present there! Well suit yourselves, not my money that is being wasted.

have the results been posted already? thought that wasn't for a while....

Apparently the demoday award was given to some company. But if I understood correctly, the main prizes will be given in July. But seems like people only saw that Digibyte did not win todays demoday award.

so because digibyte didnt get the demoday award someones chucking a crypto hissy fit and dumping his bag lol..... amusing.

Don't really know why so many people sold today..would make more sense to let the price go up higher first. Some sell walls were over 100btc worth. If ppl hold so many DGB it doesn't make sense to force the price down by putting up a wall rather than splitting it up into stages.

pre dump fear i reckon. some obviously believe the results would cause the price to crash thus losing profits....

Or whales are pushing the price down so they can buy cheaper coins before the good news spreads Smiley.

Won't catch me dumping my small bag.... short term may not be great but long term is where the money is gonna be made.

looking ahead is the only thing that stops the pain of this savage dump. I only wonder how long it will take to re-up

the dump is far from over going by what i have been watching, buy support is lowering as well. i suspect we will see a new low before we will see it rise again. Far to many people bought in with the hope of quick profit from citibank event, given digi didn't get the "day award" people are probably seeing that as a failure and thus dumping their stock to recover potential lose's. Long term holders have taken their coins off exchanges where the ones that are dumping atm are just those who where hoping for quick profits, although they should have been a tad more patient.
