It keeps newbs from flash selling when it hits markets. Most don't understand the importance of staking. If it will make you feel any better, go to the faucet or trivia and get some. 
Also, you can easily purchase them on two exchanges. That is not why. The point of older accounts was because it's easy to make many new ones and someone may have claimed 1000 times as new names

Am hearing reports of a trojan wallet stealer hidden in Digicube's wallet , please check carefully if you must install.
Can you quote any sources?And i mean i compiled it and uploaded it to virustotal, it was clean. Not sure how accurate that can be though.
Was his wallet encrypted? It shouldn't be possible to send coins with the wallet encrypted and needing a password. I have been running the DigiCube wallet (Mac) since the start and I've had no problems.
