this is a problem you dont get to decide to confirm or reject a wager where money is sent up front and confirmed.
that needs to be eliminated imo if you are going to grow.

I have had wagers I put in with the pick your negociated price option. well before the gates open and when your screen shows the race is yet to jump... The price of my horse does not creep up to where I need it so should be no play..but then you guys get the transaction and wait the minute and all of a sudden im confirmed at my price in the LIVE racing portion of your offereings, whicih I dont want at all cause if the odds start to climb then your screwed, and those bets have been accepted and graded a loss.. they were small wagers and buyer beware but that is a major flaw to your advantage in your set up there.
far as I can tell you cant cancel a best offer price so if this happens your screwed.. and thus this statement you made below is 100% not true

please dont take these comments as a negative condemnation, what you have is unique and Im figureing out the flaws and sorting it all out. but imo you need several improvements if you are going to draw in serious volume and members in horses..

They are confirmed or rejected immediately most of the time but I had one that said pending in basketball for about 5 seconds.
That's normal. It does take a few seconds to confirm bets as we need to obtain the most up to date odds, validate the bet and publish the confirmation to our website.
Directbet is getting worst now, bets don't get confirmed immediately, and the worst thing, if your bet lose the bets will be confirmed and if it wins it will stay no bets received and you will get a refund with fees..

Can you please provide the bet ID(s) that did not confirm so that we can look into what exactly happened ?
you are right in that they will never GROW unless you can confirm a wager instantly especially in horse racing the waiting to see if it was taken "in time" or not raises questions to the actual person risking the money. its understandable that the person not risking the money would say its all in the system and the clocks and they dont choose which to take or not. but they dont put the money up first... will hinder growth. s

Following is an explanation from our Rules page in regards to the process in which we confirm bets.
What exactly is it that you don't like ?

As soon as we receive your bet, we will either confirm or reject it within a minute. Refresh the Bet Status page to determine whether your bet was confirmed or rejected. If the status is 'No bets were received', it means that your bet transfer has not been delivered yet. If the status is 'Pending', it means that we received your bet and it is being processed.
If your bet transfer is delayed by the Bitcoin network or by your Bitcoin wallet or for any other reason, it will be processed as soon as it is received.
If the odds have increased by the time your bet transfer is received, your bet will be confirmed at the greater odds. If on the other hand the odds have been decreased, your bet will be rejected and refunded if you selected the 'Firm Odds' option and confirmed at lower odds if you selected the 'Flexible Odds' option or if you selected the 'Negotiate Odds' option, as long as the odds are higher than the minimum negotiated odds.
If the event is already over by the time your bet transfer is received, your bet will be refunded regardless of the result.
If your bet is confirmed then the bet will stand and can not be canceled by either you or us. If your bet is rejected, it will be refunded as soon as there are 6 confirmations for the Bitcoin transaction that you sent.
Once the bet status is either 'Confirmed' or 'Rejected', it can not be changed the other way around. A rejected bet can not turn into a confirmed bet and a confirmed bet can not turn into a rejected bet. A rejected bet will always be refunded and a confirmed bet will always get settled.
In the rare event that our system is malfunctioning while your bet is received, the bet status will remain 'Pending' or 'No bets were received', meaning it is neither confirmed nor rejected. I have to say after the recent coinbet and bitbookk fiascos I am leaning more and more toward using this site to bet. My major issue is that I usually use a computer that does not have my bitcoin wallet on it so it's a pain to go to the wallet computer and send to the new address I get from directbet. But in any case I think that's the best feature, that you don't store any bitcoin.
My suggestion would be to create a web wallet at www.BlockChain.info and fund it with the amount you need for sports betting while away from your computer. You can then use it to instantly transfer bets to us from any computer or smartphone.
Think of this wallet as "Your Account" at DirectBet, except that it is much much more safer and under your control.

We do not currently display races results, but if you place a bet you will be able to see the bet result in the Bet Status page.
You can find the complete results on the official race website.
Odds might be low when we do not have reliable odds. When that is the case, check back later. You will be able to get better odds as we get closer to the race start time, or alternatively use the "Negotiate Odds" feature.
